  • I remember skating to this song at Skate-O-Rama in Oklahoma City years ago. And listening to it at the lake with my overly cool parents and my sister on our little fishing boat. At the time, I thought the song was "racy". (I was in 7th grade). The seventies were a VERY unique time in American history. There was still a middle class and we were part of it....

  • I spend waaaaay too much time enjoying these memories :)

  • A great memory from my youth. Thanks for posting! And....really, now--there is plenty of stuff coming out today that will be the same sort of memory for today's kids, 30-40 years from now. Katy Perry, Green Day,on and on...It's pop, don't judge, just indulge.

  • THANK YOU for posting this on VINYL! I haven't heard this song since I was kid...good times! We had this 45, so I am actually enjoying watching the actual record spin. Genius!

  • 6/30/11 watching Super 8, heard this song in the movie, jumped on YouTube to listen to it, got caught up listening to the related music videos of the 70's, and now the movie is over. Lol, I missed the ending. I'll catch it online later, for now, I'm gonna listen to some Ambrosia, Player, etc...thanks for the upload! It brought back great memories!

  • @MrSickofthisshit

Yep, i was also watching Super 8 and did the same thing!! Great memories!!!!!

  • Since he wrote hits for others, then it was a good thing for him to score one of his own - the 70s had a number of stories like this one.

  • I understand, from Alan O'Day, this song will be featured in the upcoming movie, "Super 8"..a J.J. Abrams movie, produced by Stephen Spielberg.. It supposedly takes place in the late 70's .

  • I was 11 when this song came out.. it was my fav. so happy on here

  • My dad had bought the 45 of this song. The only flaw was there was a skip in the record towards the end of the song! lol

  • this song came out about the same time I fell in LOVE for the first time. She was everything to me and this song seemed to be made about her.

  • Alan O'Day was also known for writing another #1 hit in 1974 - Helen Reddy's "Angie Baby". He also wrote the Righteous Brothers' smash "Rock 'n Roll Heaven". Good stuff!

  • Billboard's #9 song of '77. Alan hit #1 pop, #31 AC in Billboard. God bless!

  • Debut #40 Casey Cason's American Top 40.. May 13, 1977. I love this song. I used to fall asleep to this song when I was 13 and still sing it today!

  • Thanks for posting the original. The new versions ruined it. I looked EVERYWHERE for this as a kid, the record stores wouldn't carry it! It's like there was a conspiricy to sink this guy's song. It deserved MUCH more respect.. glad he finally got it.. took over 30 years to do so. Hey, Alan, if you ever see this.. you inspired me as a songwriter.. everyone check out my hot hit "In Your Eyes" featuring the talent of Christi Santana!

  • Nothing like good old fashioned pop...with a slight disco beat

  • Ahh, the comforting crackle of diamond on vinyl...

  • LOL I used to love this song when I was a kid, but I had no clue what it was about! haha

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!! It was my first 45 too. Thanks for posting it.

  • That's a fact, Rick! In my book this is without a doubt one of the 10 best songs ever. It was a #1 hit too.

  • I have this record, but was afraid to post it because of the WMG logo in the rim print. This a really great song!
