The real Martha was not Seth's sister in law. She was a childhood sweetheart. There was no brother who died in combat, no " child " nephew, no Alma Garret !!!

Molly Parker is beautiful especially in season 1. I love this first meeting between them. It is regrettable that Seth married his sister-in-law and adopted his nephew - a very dumb move on his part. And Seth himself said that he probably had to borrow his dead brother's life so he did not have to live a life of his own.

And then Alma entered his life. Really, really dumb storyline.

Yeah, they should have just stuck to the way it happened. Martha and Seth knew each other since childhood.
