  • Vic! I am sorry I haven't been around lately. I was 1 week late back from Miami. I had to spend 3 weeks there... Sigh... LOL (NEVER fly with US Airways!) Now I am back and listen to your music and, as always, feel I missed you! I tld you so many times, but I love the sound from this guitar! Can I have it? :-))

    Stay Tuned!

    Per

  • @AndanteLargo Thanks Per, that last Beatles tune from you was superb, many ask me questions about this old guitar, but the older she gets the better she sounds, she's like old wine, lol. Thanks for the flying tip, all those flying companies are in a competing war and most of their service has gone down real bad, greets Vic.

  • Nice! Did you just learn it? Does the GB have a lot of sustain? Can you compare it to a 175? Lot's of questions huh? Haha. Keep it up and have great day man!!

  • @enzmusic Hi Pat,1. I know this tune quite a while already,2. the sustain is OK and the tone lovely 3.I think the character is different to 175.All the best to you Pat,Vic.

  • Vic, I have one question on you. What guitar are you playing in this video? I commented your wonderful playing in previous comment. Thanks,

    B.

  • It's a Ibanez GB20,taken out of production now and I changed the pick-up for a seymour Duncan humbucker,Vic.

  • Vic,

You really are a world class player. Great timing/phrasing/tone.

    Chris

  • Thanks Chris, really appreciate that from you, I sometime think this place is getting so crowded it doesn't matter anymore what you do, but these comments really boost me,greets Vic.

  • Stunning!

  • @Frets200 Thanks Frets,always welcome,Vic.

  • Kinda reminds me of Jimmy Helms

  • @dennisisms thanks I don't know him is he an American hero in Jazz Guitar? Vic.

  • What a senile old idiot I've become, I meant Jimmy Hall (Jim Hall). sorry

  • dennisisms, that makes sense my friend, I was nearly starting to believe I overlooked a great Jazz guitarist in History, lol,Vic.

  • See Youtube: Jimmy Hall Trio, Germany 1973

  • a great jam! could just have it playing non-stop

  • @etusax is there knob of continuous playing, maybe the next YT invention? now you'll have to do with the "replay" button, not so bad, lol, greets Vic.

  • That's great jazz music !

warm sound nice for the cold winter

  • Thanks yamita.. and great for getting your chops together, lol, cheers Vic.

  • This is *Fantastical* *Magical*

    Love, Love.........*Big* Time!

  • nice nice work vic! zeker weer 5 sterren waard! :D cheers roy

  • Dank je Roy,altijd welkom om te komen luisteren en van commentaar voorzien natuurlijk, groet Vic.

  • very good.

hey i was wondering, because i wanted to get in to jazz playing, are there a few standards which are good to start. or where would yo recommend me to start?

  • Great. Iam always happier when hearing a good jazz tune. I also like how are some of jazz guitarists talking to themselves. So friendly. Relaxing and greatly played, thanks.

    B.

  • Thanks Praclik22, I would say the world of Jazz is one of understanding, the road that leads to good Jazz playing is a long and tough one, one knows what it takes to reach the essence of things, and mostly one is also willing to share that path, Vic.

  • That was so beautiful!

  • @ abhikmazumder glad you liked it,Vic.

  • Nicely done Vic, you were playing some serious stuff in there and at the same time you look so calm. I can tell you having fun. Thaks for sharing this wonderful tune.

    Take care mi amigo!

  • Thanks Edwin, when reading your comment I have to think of a statement Miles once made: 1. How can a musician play if he ain't relaxed? I know, there's a long road before one reaches that state of mind. Thanks for listening Amigo, Vic.

  • Thanks for this wonderful music. I really enjoyed it.

    -Bosko

  • @ trhnpc, always welcome in enjoying my Music-channel-Vic.

Loik, my dog (chihuahua 15 years) died Friday, January 8, 2010, I am very sad!

    Your friend Rosy

  • Thanks Rosy, very sorry to hear bout your (true friend) your Dog, animals are so loyal to us and we miss them greatly when they're gone, I understand for you, hope my improvisation has given you joy to overcome, friendly Vic.

  • beautiful voicings

    i like it

  • @ toneburner, I loved playing it for you, Vic.

  • that's so fine, my friend.

  • Thanks Tony, always welcome Amigo, Vic.

  • You opened up nicely on this tune. Mike

  • Thanks Mike it's a nice tune to play enjoyed doing this one, greets Vic.

  • Good Afternoon Victor. I like Your guitars smoothy jazzy sound. I see You and remembrance Duet Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis. I see Your joy with this performance. Wish You good healt, free inspiring music and love in family. Greet. Artur

  • Thanks Artur, well those guys are giants in Jazz, and indeed I had a ball doing this one, thanks for all the good wishes, all the best to you too,Vic.

  • Beautiful sound and feeling Vic!!!!!

  • Thanks @willybass123 glad you enjoyed and always welcome,Vic.

  • nice to see you post another jazz tune Vic ! well done

  • Thanks Fred, hope all's well with you, greetings Vic.

  • Nice warmth in your playing on this tune.. Speaks a lot of feeling.. Vic.. What camera or camcorder do you use ??

  • Thanks Ken, I use the built in camera from my Mac Osx,glad I bought this one, not cheap but quality Stuff, your last Vids where of good quality too, greets Vic.

  • Vic I was looking at the Macs the other day ..They are Impressive.. But like you said..not real cheap. : 0))

  • Oh, Vic! This is too amazing! As wonderful as this tune is, you found a way to interpret it in such an

upbeat and beautiful way -- free of the nostalgic noir

elements it usually features. Sometimes you can reinvent the wheel to build a better mousetrap, or something! : ) I hope this will be available as an

mp3 someday from your site! Fantastic! ~Terry

  • Terry, thank you, once I was discussing composition with a Flamenco guitarist,he talked about composing within the framework of composition,he brought up some interesting elements I meditated on,they influence me in a positive sense :) hug Vic.

  • Vic, well this would make sense to me as I think of flamenco as an essentially optimistic and vibrant

celebration of life and you seemed to infuse your rendition with a celebratory momentum that has

left us all in great good cheer here! Wish that

we could each return the favor to you, Vic. I know

each of us would do so! ~Terry

  • Terry you guys are favoring me with all these warm and friendly comments,I need and ask no more, this is enough. Flamenco,Blues and Jazz are very optimistic and what you call vibrant styles that always challenges a musician to put in the best that's possible, I won't settle for less, hug Vic.

  • Inspiration..........I agree with SqwishTV comment.

  • Thanks Dorian, glad you liked my version, greets Vic.

  • I like that lovely sound you play.

  • Thanks @qollop,glad you enjoyed, Vic.

  • incredible! this guitar sounds so good

  • @ AlexisGuitar94, I treat her with total respect and this is what she does for me,lol,Vic.

  • haha lol

  • Perfect guitar choice for this instrumental.

    Looks & sounds great !

  • @ peterqb24 thanks,she goes back a long way,I bought her in 81,Vic.

  • Thanks, Victor!

  • @ tarnatalia,you're always welcome,Vic.

  • Wonderful, as always Vic!

    Thanks ~

    Fri

  • @ Fripilot, thanks for tuning in and joining my session, greets Vic.

  • Great to listen today to Yesterdays played by Vic!

I´ve been in a bad mood - but now I feel a bit better :-)

    Big hug and cheers

    Sabine

  • Sabine, how come the bad mood? Life is difficult sometimes I know, glad I could cheer you up a bit, thanks for always listening and commenting,Vic.

  • Vic, what great chord-voicings...that´s worth watching very often. The soloing, that´s worth listening to very often. Oh man, you are a genius in all that Jazz stuff, that´s your home, the Blues and Jazz....(which is no real difference, right?;-))) you know how I mean that!

Quality recording of a master in his music!

    I wanna see you live!

    Frank

  • Frank, we have something in common, actually quite a lot, and you can guess it, the passion for Music, you're a very good player yourself,I've heard some damn good Stuff from you, also in the Jazz Idiom, thanks my friend,Vic.

  • Very enjoyable smooth playing !! Groeten Jeroen

  • Thanks Jeroen,always welcome man,Vic.

  • Excellent........as usual.

  • Thanks @ TempoJunkee (nice name) don't go too fast though, glad you liked it, Vic.

  • Hello Vic

What A Beautiful Tune And Well Played My Friend I Luv It :)) 5/5 As Always

    Luv Patricia. Hugz.

  • Thanks Patricia, for your listening session and your shining Stars, big hug too Vic.

  • bien tocas bien carnal}

  • Muchas gracias victor038, siempre bienvenido,Vic.

  • Ahhh, nothing like having a good strong cup of coffee this Monday morning while listening to your latest smooth jazz video. Monday's simply can't get any better than this! Thanks for the much needed infusion, Victor ;-) *****

  • Thanks Jeff,I had to think on the comparison in words I mean with Soul-vaccination (Tower of Power) however an infusion is somewhat stronger, lol, Vic.

  • Forgot to mention I love the chord changes. You always have a good mix of blues and jazz chords tightly woven around the lead ,and beautifully executed throughout the song. You do make it look so effortless, smooth and easy. All those years of dedication, discipline, and practice obviously payed off :)

  • Thanks Jeff, you're very kind, I think I developed these kind of voicings by playing trio a lot in the past, I wanted a full sound(melody and harmony) if you don't clutter the piano-chords too much (keep them simple) you wont get any frictions and I can stack more chord embellishments,Vic.

  • Nice work again, Vic, very cool & smooth. Wish I could play in that way that sounds and looks so smooth, easy and effortless. Many of your post are misleading like that, they APPEAR to be easy until you try it. Great work.

  • Thanks Turkamine, guess you''re right these standards sound pretty easy-going but it's all the improvisational Ideas that make it all worthwhile,Vic.

  • fantastic ! 5*****stars

  • Thanks Vini,for your enthusiasm,greetings Vic.

  • 5* for the great touch and sound! Also great musical flow.

  • MussoGorski thanks for your shining stars and appreciation, Vic.

  • That was really fantastic you make it look so easy!

  • @ davemorag1, Music making is never easy but I'm glad it looks that way,Vic.

  • Victor

Great tone and very smooth playing over a great standard. It feels like an old friend just listening to you play. Even though I just heard this tune from you it seems like I have always heard this before. Wonderful work as always.

    Rich

  • Thanks Rich, well I've been here about 2 years now and played quite a lot , always great having you here listening, glad you liked my playing,Vic.

  • Beautiful, Vic - great tone!

    Martin

  • Thanks Martin, looking out for another sweet post from you guys,Vic.

  • Hey Vic,

nice to see you on this monday!! And as always great playing!! Good for a relaxed afternoon!! Hug Sarah :-)

  • Thanks Sarah, glad you enjoyed my Jazz tune and a very smooth week to you,big hug,Vic.

  • great feeling , great sound

    as usual....

    Bravo!!!!

  • Thanks jeen69Lyon, glad you enjoyed my playing, all the best Vic.

  • True music. Some licks that made me hold my breath... This solo is quite paradoxal actually, full of groove, rythm and strength, the sound is very smooth and delicate.

You reached an appreciable subtility here, Victor. That's marvellous.

  • @Marseille5,great comment with good chosen words, I guess for me the means of musical expression lies in Blues and Jazz, it's always a challenge to play a standard and get out as much as there's hidden in there, at least that's what I try,Vic.

  • Vic

Gorgeius tone, so tasty - I love it!!!! Great solo too. 5 stars.

  • @crescentridge, thanks,I always try to get a 100% in the Music,it has to happen in the moment that's Jazz,Vic.

  • Lullaby of Netherlander! Lovely interpretation Victor. Great standard and well played. Is that a new pick-guard, or have you gotten another Ibanez? Happy New Year (Belatedly) John

  • Great hearing from you John, hope all's well with you,a great 2010 and lot's of inspiration. It's the same guitar Ibanez GB20, and the pick-guard started cracking here and there but on the Video it gives a great effect, cheers till soon,Vic.

  • excellent...thank you :)

  • 000Judge000,you're very welcome,enjoy my Music, Vic.

  • hi vic thats a feeling on guitar which me remembers old movies like casablanca etc, dont know why, people sitting in the night in a nightclub bar and think about the life, very well and also the guitar is excellent, glad that i am not playing jazz style otherwise i would have the wish to buy the guitar model and you told me how expensive it is 5*******

  • Well Friedl kinda like that atmosphere you just described, Casablanca still a great Classic Movie (love the Black & White) and it's the Era of Jazz that we know so well,Ella Fitzgerald,Joe Pass, Count Basie, etc. And as for the guitar,I hate robbing banks to buy one, lol, greets Vic.

  • that's a beautiful guitar.. what is that?

  • Hi Omertao11, it's a GB20 Ibanez (taken out of production). Most are owned by Jups nowadays who ask extraordinary amounts for them, staying out of (financial) reach for musicians,Vic.

  • One of my favorite standards, very well played!! A treat to wake up in the morning to this.

  • Thanks Jake, indeed J.Kern sure knew how to put together great compositions, and as you say this progression is a treat to play over, Vic.

  • Smooth and sweet.Thanks Vic

  • Thanks Paul, for your listening visit, always welcome,Vic.

  • You caught me after Midnight, which is the best time for me to listen to jazz...de beste slaapmuts...after hours..best way to relax and to wind down...

It sounds great, thanks so much Vic:-)

  • @Mariekesone, thanks, that's why the famous Thelonious Monk called his composition " Round Midnight" , all at ease and the creative juices flow, that's my time too, greets Vic.

  • Hallo Vic,

    Sterk spel.

Je leert me nieuwe dingen kennen ;o)#

  • @Jazzguts Ik ga me eens oriënteren op jazzmuziek. Ik ben blijkbaar een alleseter op muzikaal gebied, als het maar geen 538 of Slam FM type muziek is vind ik het al gauw mooi.

  • Absolutely fantastic yet again Vic - such a nice tone and so much feeling!

    Liam

  • Thanks Liam glad you listened, this is such an inspiring tune to play, it brings out the best in me,all the best Vic.
