@123cgull He brought a real dark, kind of depressing feel to the band and really changed the style dramatically from BSSM. (It was not just him, both Anthony and Flea at least were also not in the best moods during that time). Although I have One Hot Minute and like many of the songs on there, I didn't think that Navarro fit in the band all that well. He also left the band on a bad note because Flea and Anthony told him he was fired, so I'm sure most people are following A & F.

Frusciante is one of my all time favorite musicians but with Josh its pretty damn good too. Josh was john's guitar tech for years and he played with them during the stadium arc tour if im not mistaken. Josh has also recorded some songs with john on johns solo albums. Josh is a badass and i think he's the best replacement. This is a killer album and i cant wait to see them in concert later this year!!!

It's perfectly reasonable to compare John and Josh. A band, and the music they make, is the product of the musicians themselves.. Although they are still RHCP, they are not the same band. A musician has been replaced. The music is different. That's not up for debate. My opinion, however, is that I miss John's riffs. I'm With You, like One Hot Minute, was a bass album.
