However, US, in search of the fabled WMDs that didn't exist in Iraq, thought that they should "liberate" Iraq by ending the Sadam regime.
So the US military, bombed and annihilated the Iraqi military, civic buildings and killed a lot of Iraqi citizens. Now US promised that they will help Iraq rebuild.

@hellaprime Let me clear for you the situation that's going on in Iraq. Sadam was never an ally with the Talibans or the Al Qaida. In fact he's done his best to keep them out of his country. However, US, in search of the fabled WMDs that didn't exist in Iraq, thought that they should "liberate" Iraq by ending the Sadam regime.
So the US military, bombed and annihilated the Iraqi military, civic buildings and killed a lot of Iraqi citizens. Now US promised that they will help Iraq rebuild.

@kamikaze6000 Oh, come on. Everybody in the US know that they're abandoning Iraq once they realized the corruption is too strong and the cost is too great. $60 billion is not a lot of money for a nation like US; especially considering the morale at stake and how US destroyed Iraq.
But everyone inAmerica is happy that the little burden on their economy is lifted that their lives might improve a little. At the cost of the Iraqi blood. You watch, Iraq will not recover for a LONG LONG (x 500) time.

I'm American and I would not be happy with abandoning Iraq, or Afghanistan for that matter, and I live in one of the states that got hit the hardest by this economic recession. We barged into these countries uninvited and overthrew their governments under the assertion that they would be free and lead better lives. If we leave now we would be throwing these people to the wolves. We Americans are always bragging about how heroic we are, well it's about time we lived up to the title.

@bavwill It's not about result as much as it is about America's promise to the world of its commitment to restabilizing Iraq after the war. But now that the war is over, America wants to pull away from its responsibility. Obama is at fault too. This is just a political strategy for him to get his approval rating back up.
For him, it's a career. However this decision is an affliction towards the lives of Iraqi people.

@bavwill He saw Al-Qaida as what they were: extremist terrorists and didn't ally with them and worked his best to keep them out of his country. He reserved Iraq's oil so that he can leave them untapped and save them for the future when the oil price becomes more competitive. In other words, he's worked for the prosperity of his country. Completely different than Kims of North Korea or Mao of China.
Iraq was much better with the dictator than how it is now: destroyed and abandoned.

You will see that both the asset and population of Iraq from the war had been tantalizingly larger than the ones made by Hussein's regime.
