Mate wat u have done is really kind and nice.. this world needs more people like you, my mum has tamed 2 stray cats and other cats come to my house for food.. i have no idea what people think of us as,(crazy animal lovers) lol i dont care but i know to many people who buy pets and treat them like toys or they act like there their just to shout at.. im not ashamed at all to say i hate the human race compared to any animal, ALL my pets show more afection that most people i have ever met do.
I have 2 ferals and one stray I'm caring for. The ferals are as ferals are, very shy but finally....the one I call sophie is starting to tolerate my presence, she doesn't run as far as she once did.....I aim to pet her one of these days...her brother "ghost" on the other hand is much more cautious. I call the stray Chat L'Orange and he loves to be petted but is not much for being indoors alot.
My feral cats love me and the food I provide, yet won't let me touch them. Not even the baby. But they will rub their bodies against my legs and feet! I love my feral cats!
My dad had an old feral cat that would sneak in to eat his cat's food.I say sneak, but actually you could hear him struggling his way up the flight of stairs, gasping and wheezing like he's been smoking all his life! That poor old cat sure went through a lot to get to a plate of canned food though, and we were happy to let him.
Aww. Poor old kitty. It's amazing that she made it to 24 with her being essentially wild.I have a kitty that is kinda like that. He was not entirely feral, but had obviously been abandoned a long time ago. It took a year for him to start warming up to us. He still doesn't like other people. I would take him in in a heartbeat if I could, but there are allergies that I have to worry about. :( Still, he gets fed everyday, and has a really nice cat house. He also gets lots of attention. :D
Bless your heart for all you do! We have a family here we are friends with who run a Wildlife Rehab as well!! You are truly special people - thank you for all you do and the time it takes (and the extra work to try to get funding!). We have 11 cats - all rescues - they all 'found' us.... we have a few ferals - all have come around over time ' on their own terms ' !!
I could never raise a pet that old... it would take too long to train and earn my trust. I prefer raising week old kittens that think you're they're mommy and try to look for a nipple on your stomach. Even though I'm a dude and that's totally gross but it was soooo cute... it trusts me enough to run on top of my shoulder when loud noises scare him.
@antongirdeux07 You let it go? Like, just left it outside? I truly hope I misunderstood, because I can't believe you would be proud of that. It's fine to not like cats. It's not okay to abandon an innocent, domesticated animal. >.<
OMG Mary! I was just looking at some cat videos on YouTube...and YOU POP UP?! I'm really not believing this! You are the same one that just posted your rescue of the white dog on FaceBook! Damn! I'm Deb Conner
I got a feral cat from my aunt couple years back. She was thin and very skidish. She stayed in my room alot because we also had dogs (they are good with cats but a little nosey) As time went on and I cared for her, feeding her, and eventualy grew to trust me and now she loves me... oh yeah and she got pretty tubby. She's a darling though. Her name is Amy.
Bless you for taking such good care of her! And taking her into your home. Even though she was old and feeling it. I bet it was the best two years of her life.
no you idiot why watch it i rea;;y hope you burn n hell and suffer for the rest of time i dont care what you come back with if your replying your just addmittingit
why even say something like that? are you afraid of animals or was your childhood filled with haunted memories of a cat attack? If not, I suppose you are mentally defunct. People of low intelligence usually have outbursts like you, poor poor CakeMace.
Aw. Isnt it a wonderful feeling when they finally trust you? I finally got one of the ferals outside to trust me this evening and i'm so happy! And that is wonderful that the kitty is so old! She's certainly a survivor! :D
I thinksuch an old cat living outside knows everything about the hard wildlife in towns and in counties. That cat is an veteran andyou must looka after it.Its a litte wonder that "wild"cats are as old as her.Nayshe live some years in your home and having good times and calm times. She needed it after that long and hard life outside.I know some old cats hier around my house..but no ca is older than 10.
There should be more people in the world like you.
And by the way, that is extremely impressive how far she's come. Usually adult ferals are very hard to socialize, let alone one that's 23 years old. I fostered orphan kittens a while ago and found them good homes myself. I'm thinking of getting back into it; there are just too many strays out there on those mean streets.
My daughter rescues feral cats, I've adopted two from her. It is a long process but so rewarding to see them begin to trust and enjoy human companionship. They get along well with the three I'd already had from the SPCA, and now the two ferals insist on more rubbing than the others!( making up for the lack of rubs when they lived in the wild!)
you have a big heart, you cat is very fortunate! I have 3 cats (all adopted) and then I feed around 3 cats in the neighborhood, and a few rackoons and opposums!

You are a jackass. You can determine the relative age of many animals via dental examination and bone density measurements.
