  • i cant understand

  • now that's really fast modeling

  • Very cool!! I know this is a pretty old video, but I'll try anyway. I'm new to Blender and I'm working on a model of a front end loader. The bucket needs to both raise and then tilt to dump. I have the raise and tilt basically in good shape, BUT, I can't seem to get the two arm tips of the armatures at the point (similar to where you put your "c1") to connect. I've tried everything I can find, but the points just won't stay together. Does this make any sense? Any thoughts if it does?

  • dude my techer awarded me 200 hundred dollars for showing him this be cuase we run a robotics/ engineering/ desgining program (yes i help run it ) class and this helped ous all out becouse cads all though more effective for what we need it is expensive and blender is not this helped prove that its not as hard as it seems (WOW thats was a mouth full)

  • Can you simply copy what you just did and flip it horizontally to make the other half of the mechanism?

  • @OregonDARRYL yes you can :)

  • @themanyone Hey, thanks. I downloaded Blender a while ago, but it looked so damned complicated... I think I'll give it a shot.... looks like an incredible program.

  • @OregonDARRYL Yeah there is not much it can't do now and what those things are I wouldn't know how to explain. Not bad at all for the price!

  • 5:06 pooooop

  • Hummmm ! Muito Interessante, mesmo que não seja em português eu entendi tudo =]

  • software???

  • This is such a a great mechanism

  • make parent doesnt work for me, whenever i put make parent and i try to rotate it the crank doesnt move, why not?

  • try doing the parent the other way... for example, you r parenting A with B, try B with A

  • i try parenting both ways and still doesnt work

  • first of all... what r u parenting?

  • i don't hafe blender :(

    but theo jansen RULES (6)

  • Blender's free, and Theo Jansen is indeed awesome!

  • i know, but i hafe cinema 4d and i understead that..

    and blender i dont..

  • Oh well whatevs right?

  • Sorry, i don't understand.. 'whatevs right..'

  • "whatevs" is a sarcastic version of "whatever".

  • ohw.. i'm not so good in english... sorry..

  • No problem. I don't know any other languages at all so I won't complain. :)

  • Nice Tutorial. Worked for me as a practical approach to Blender for beginners. Thanks a lot for uploading.

  • Ho.

  • hey what the heck version of blender are you useing ctrl and p ...... shift p you also got a lot of things wrong to i don't know how yours even works? it needed a lot of modification to make it work on mine ..... and we're useing the same version !

  • That was version 2.45 for Linux, I think. They are changing this a lot. I may redo it when they get 3.0 stable enough.

  • cool Ive found your vids twice now in the last few weeks - seahorse for ssh keys and blender3d - the PI resertation was a bonus!

  • your a dumbass

  • OMG he farted

  • douche

where do u download the pic??

  • how did you learn how to do things in blender is there a website to do that at and great tutorial

  • good info here thanks for making this tut!

  • can someone give me a link or a URL to that diagram

  • My friend happened to find a solution:

You need to place the armatures excatly on the same spot as the others. It's not enough if you place them on the top of each other with your eye sight. You need to place the cursor always when needed with "shift + s" (cursor -> grid) and while extruding the armatures make sure that you are pressing control to place them on lockable spots.

I don't know how it worked in the tutorial but without this, bones won't link correctly for me.

  • I got the model done, like you told in the video but for some reason a couple of the armatures aren't connected to each other which leads that the mechanism doesn't work correctly so my question is:

    How to link armatures?

  • Either "copy location" (for fat end of first bone) or "IK Target" (skinny end of last bone). See description.

  • Still can't get them to work.. I give up

  • how do you save a blender anamation render

  • Blender is FREE, and it's AWESOME!! 3DS Max costs a crapload of money(although it's probably awesome too)...

  • Then you don't know whet Blender can do.

  • i would like to see a tutorial in other 3d programs, as many people dont use blender, whether its good or not, i know that i dont, i prefer using 3ds max or maya, perhaps a brief tutorial on how to make this mechanism in those programs?

  • Great tutorial! Did you fart at 5:07? XD

Still learned alot from it though.

  • That was me swallowing. Mic was loose and fell down to throat level, heh, and I didn't want to do more than one take.

  • alright!

  • cool now how do I do the other part?

  • Good! What is the name of this program please?

    Thanks!!

  • blender

  • thanks for teaching me!

  • BRAVO ...

    It's possible to have the.blend file ? Please ...

  • Good show! Congratulations.
