I can't believe anyone thinks this is real. It's a tv show.The players are all paid the same amount to participate. It doesn't matter if they win or lose. The money is a prop provided by the network. It is collected at the end to be used in the next show.

@snoopy9134 It varies per show. Most of the time it's the network's money. But on occasion they'll play for real, especially if they're one of the amateurs playing for charity. Personally, I think High Stakes Poker gave players some incentive to be there with a big bonus for showing up (you don't make money by playing against pros), but they get to keep the difference. A pro never wants to play against another pro; that's not where the money is. It's in taking advantage of weaker players.

I have a question to all of you poker players:

Every time I draw for a straight, the board pairs in nearly a 100% on the turn or the river.

For example: I hold 5 6 and the flop comes 7 8 K, betting round, and then normally the board pairs, with a K or a 7 etc....I never catch the straight....Is it just me.....??

Did you notice anything similar in your games?

Can anyone please explain the odds I have to expect??

I´m talking about Internet poker, THNL, various poker rooms.

stick to TAG play buddy.You don`t need to move makes fancy plays at your level.The players are bad enough.Just valueplay and bet/raise when you are strong, check/call when you are not that strong and fold when you are weak.Easy game :)

actually thats BS, Gus Hansen is infact a maniac, much like Ivey, Durr, and the rest of em, however he is not as good as Ivery or Durr. TJ Cloutier in an interview said that one tourney/ or cash game session which last many hours, Gus went in with the worst hand 27 times and won all 27. He's a good player dont get me wrong, but still a maniac, so when he picks up real hands he gets paid off all the time. Also heard stories of how he was in debt over 1mil to some Monaco casino due to bad swings.

I think honestly, he has days were he doesn't care, he just wants to play and doesn't care about losing or winning...I heard he owed individuals who backed him something like 400K which makes sense I think...That winning with the 27 hands is higly unlikely and a statistical improbability, but I'll believe it when it comes to Gus, like you say, he's a maniac, I've come to see that these last couple months...
