i agree racoons are dumb as well as possum. i dont where any gloves for any trapping and am pretty successful. i like the way you did that but i make it easeir and use old barrells lol. but nice video
If you put a pair of rubber gloves on instead of getting your scent all over everything I think you would have better luck! I guess Im going to have to break down and make a video on hear so everyone can see the real way to catch a coon!
them drags are just a waste of time becuse they run all over hell , but if you use a stake that wont happen. jrust me i catch around 200 coons a year and stakes work way better than drags. and i dought there are a few 50 pounders there.
you might as well have made it a fox set as much time you spent on it. there are things called pan covers that cover it when you sift it or use screens that work just as well but, your still a young pup trial and error is what you'll learn from.
I love everything u did on this set but u should face the trap sideways so it looks like this when the coon is comeing in (0) insetad of the other way it helps the catch increase because at times the trap jaw can deflect the foot of the animal u are trapping. (try it, it works!) good luck on the trapline!
I used to make those cubby hole spots like that when I was a kid but I used to fish the streams a lot and would put the heads, guts, tails, whatever into a small jar and let it get good and ripe. Anyway, if there were raccoons in the area they seemed like they couldn't resist a smelly fish bait. Anything ripe and even shiny attractants seemed to get me a lot of raccoons. Now days I think I'd have to get myself a rabies vaccination b4 I go back to trapping. Hope you had great success this season

Can you show how to clean a coon? Where are the glands? I am told that you can't eat them if you don't remove the glands.
Thanks in advance!
