  • This is such a happy tune!

  • in a way you should post up 2 versions, one with surface noise and one without, call the surface noise "alternate version"

GOOD STUFF!!! I am 38 and love this type of music!

  • it kinda ends like an old movie

  • i have noticed a lot of other setups have also cancled noise out basically, not just this one...

  • i had one of these which did 78's but ruined my other records...

  • great transition to digitial!

  • AWWWW! This is an amzing song! Sooo adorable!

  • @SuperJuniorDrWhoLvr *Amazing* sorry :)

  • PLEASE post a video that has the crackles and pops. Thats one of the best parts of old music.

  • @MrCrazyGrampa in a way you are right...

  • I love the fact that 90% of all the noise has been cancelled out......The song sounds GREAT!! Thank you for posting.

  • I wish music was still this way.

  • Love it...

  • like a time machine! amazing

  • Too bad it isn't Harry Reems...I can just imagine what type of "Cream,"...LOL...but, then I wonder what red tipped stir stick he'd be using...Thanks for this great song.

  • Wow! What a zestful rendition of this timeless song.

    Thank you!

  • Hi this is Graham Dalby - you can get my version on a new re-issue, its the Jack Hylton or contact me and I'll send you a copy.

  • Great record ! Thanks !

  • This was one of my late grandma's favorite songs- tomorrow would have been her 90th birthday if we hadn't lost her last June. Thanks for posting this. Rest in peace, Jessie.

  • I wish they'd play stuff like this on the radio. I'm tired of hearing the same "oldies" songs played over and over and today's music is not my cup of tea.

  • Fantastic ...always loved this version best of all, and you did a great job cleaning up the pops. Please do more of these great old albums :)

    Thank you!

  • Check out Max Raabe's Palast Orchester performing this song.

  • What's the heaviest weight you can put on the arm where it won't hurt the record?

  • Wow! What a hot band and a great recording- lots of versions of this song but this one really stands out. thanks so much.

  • Marvellous song, just love this era of music and song.

  • Ah! I've been searching for this version FOREVER! I first discovered this great, catchy song on a 1920s music site that gave me a VIRUS! After that, I could not locate this song for the life of me. Thanks SO MUCH for posting! :-)

  • Ich liebe dieses Lied - einfach tolle Musik der Dreißiger Jahre :DD

  • Sounds great. What type of electronics setup have you there?

  • Thanks. I used an ION USB Turntable which can connect directly to the computer and I used Audacity to smooth out the crackles and pops.

  • @Aaron1912 I still use a 1955 Philco, and I'm 15. It smooths the sound for me. XD

  • Tolles Lied! Ich bin begeistert!

  • Love the old 78rpm sound. And good news: saturated fat not as bad as we thought:& the best part I like a little coffee in my cream while listening to big bands

  • I never thought that you could play one of those old Victrola records on a modern turntable. Wouldn't that wear out your stylus faster?

  • Those beats sho nuff do be kicking.

  • This is, indeed, delightful. I'm bringing the lyrics to sing for my breakfast buddies on Monday.

    Love ya, YouTube!!!

  • it always amazes me how well these recordings sound even now...great recording and version..I like. I have this amongst my collection....

  • Thanks for these postings. You really recoreded these well! How did you record the sound?

  • very good! GREAT! Marly-Wunder.

  • Fantastic, i love this.

  • OMGG. I remember this from the Miss Bradley Masterpiece Mystery series!! Wow!

    -total nostalgia-

  • @hautxtalons I know lol. That version was by Graham Dalby And The Grahamophones and is also nearly impossible to find.

  • One of my favorite recordings.

  • Il y a d'un version de cette chanson a francais?

  • j'adore cette chanson et surtout cette version que j'avais entendu il y bien longtemps sur un vieux gramophone dans un grenier et plus entendu depuis;merci

  • the early Ted Weems band 1923-1934 was just magic tight arrangements hot solos toe tapping mandatory! As for his later recordings well DONT ASK ME!

  • Nothing can EVER compare to the sounds of the 20s!! Thanks!

  • Love this music, makes me want to get up and start danc.... well perhaps not.

Seriously though really enjoyed this. Thanks.

  • Recorded on October 19, 1928...

  • In my humble opinion, this is one of the top Orthophonic 78s of any dance band in the mid to late '20s era.

  • My husband and I loved Ted Weems back in the 1920's. I inherited my husbands records after he died in 1990. He had a bunch of records that I did not know about including this one.

  • awesome :)

  • It is wonderful music unlike anything being produced today.

  • This music is still produced today. Of course with another singer... Search for Max Raabe here in Youtube. I think, his Palast Orchestra doesn't do such a bad job too.

  • @jfford Da hast du vollkommen Recht !!

  • The all-time best-version of this song, highlighted by the ever delightful whimsy inherent in Parker Gibbs' voice. The band really swings on this perfect arrangement and performance, which reached #7 on the U.S. hit parade in 1929. Note that is impossible to listen to this and not feel euphoric. Only bad thing about it -- it ends!

  • This is the opening theme song to the wonderful but short-lived '90s BBC murder mystery, "The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries". Love it.

  • im related to ted,

well at least i think i am.

    my last name is weems.

  • Thanks so much for posting this...I absolutely LOVE it! I found it quite by accident, I was discussing with my better half the second line of the song. He said it was "You're the meat in my stew", and I was certain it was "salt in my stew". I won, thanks to you! What did I win? An ice cream soda with 2 straws, that's how corny we are!

  • I love this kind of music. Or anything jazzy like puttin on the ritz!

  • The best version of this classic number. Even Nat King Cole couldn't match this ... though many may disagree ! thanks for posting

  • Very good recording!! I like it very much !!Sorry for the wrong video nr.1! You can delete it if you want !

  • "Heartaches" along with this are probabley m favorite ted weems recordings.

  • o'yea thanks

  • i love this music

  • great tune! nice combination of new and old technology. I love the acoustic machines but not even the best Victrola Orthophonic sounds this good!

  • One of the greatest records ever made by anyone! Reached #7 on the hit parade for Weems in 1929. I could listen to this all day!

  • Yes, really good version. Thx for sharing!

  • This is a good version :)

  • NICE!
