I tested the site for the last three days and it really is quite informative.

you get a minute by minute breakdown of your activity and the default categorization is quite impressive but at the same time i feel really strange about it.

you are constantly watched by a company!

getting these drill downs for your private self would be awesome but this is a privacy incident waiting to happen.

I did a bit of research , there are many time tracking applications and most are web-based which i find very creepy, from what i could gather grindstone and rachota are applications that work offline but im not sure, any way i recommend blocking any software like this in your firewall i dont want people gathering info about me even if i am just watching porn

@americanu197 Hey, thanks for digging these out, im also concerned about the privacy issue here.. even though rescureTime only sell 'aggregated data' about their users .

from what i can tell rachota only records tasks that you enter yourself... so it seems like a poor choice if you need some(one/thing) to tell you when you are wasting your time.

An offline, stand-alone solution that keeps a record of how much time I spend on which programs, without reporting it anywhere, would be very convenient without the privacy concerns. just found a way to make it a apple widget so it shows up in your dashboard

1. open the html file after you completed the steps cgpgrey describes in safari

2. click 'file' then click 'open in dashboard...'

3. extend the window to accommodate the graph from rescue time then click add

like this if it works so others can do the same.
