  • is it weird that this gave me a boner

  • It literally looks like you stole that out of the great barrier reef. One of the best corner reefs ive ever seen. I have no idea how you got it to look so natural.

  • @my89tube Thank you very much :)

  • dang i keep running into this video and is making me jellous!!

  • @jarederajarederaj Thank you friend! :)

  • @styx1981 Your welcome, and again I RAN INTO IT!! haha what kind of toadstool is that (the red one)? I bought one the other day but its tannish that is pretty large and the polyp things on tops are just little stubbs, is it because they arent opened or what?

  • @jarederajarederaj Cool! That is just a common toadstool...the will close when you move them sometimes for a week or so. They will also do this on their own. As long as it doesn't start turning black (decaying) it is probably just fine and I would give it some time.

  • @styx1981 sweet thanks man do you still have all this or is it upgraded?

  • @jarederajarederaj Yes still have everything...it will eventually get the LED lighting at some point.

  • @styx1981 yea I just upgraded, I think i got pretty lucky. I got a 48" 240 watt bridgelux LED for $375 except it came with a tank stand canopy, skimmer and sump and fish so ill be makin my money back to get a free light. haha craigslist can help you out some if you look long enough

  • beautiful aquarium. what's the dimension of that tank? I want to get something like that size but I have enough room. how wide from side to side and what's the depth from the triangle point to the bow front?

  • @hazellync Hi thanks! Dimensions of the Tank are: 27.25"L X 27.25"W X 22.5"H (55"H with Stand)

  • very very cool!! how old is the tank?

  • @trustbloodshed Thank you. It's been running for a few years now!

  • @styx1981 awesome! can you make an update?

  • @RaffleReefer1 Thanks...I did it is posted in the video response..

  • Very Nice!

  • @thxspanky Thank you!

  • That’s a nice office salt water tank.... what company is that for?

  • @9showoffsin1 Thanks...it's just in a little doctor's office.

  • @styx1981 well that’s nice. At least you will fell calm before you need to get a shot lol. All the best Rudy

  • nice lookin' tank.

  • @jabman549 Thank you friend!

  • my friend your tank is great.....i see that u have your overflow camouflaged to look like rock...can u please tell me how u did this...whre u buy it and etc...thanks a lot..

    Dimitri

  • @DimitrisIkarian Hello friend. I just allowed the star polyp coral to grow on the back of the tank. It covered the overflow after a couple of years.

  • @styx1981 really??? what kind of star polyps is that...it looks like grass...is it a demanding coral or its a simple coral and easy to mantain as the leather coral??sorry for english i am from greece and thank you a lot for your time...once again u have a great tank that inspire me and gave me many ideas!!!

  • @DimitrisIkarian These are just regular green star polyps. They are pretty easy to keep. You just need good light and good water flow. If they are happy they will grow everywhere! Hope that helps my friend.

  • @jpn6166 Leather corals are just like women. Hard to figure out and never as happy as they could be (haha-joke). They really do like to be attached to a rock or even several rocks to be happy. I usually place mine midway in the tank with several rocks near the one it is attached to. They don't normally move off the first rock but they will spread their base to adjoining rocks....this will make it happier. I wouldn't leave it in the sand. Try middle of the tank and see if it does better.

  • @jpn6166 Thanks for watching...I use kalkwasser drip, iodine, molybdenum, and trace elements. That's it...good light and good flow...I burn the lights about 10 hours per day VHO system. You should see that leather now. It is three times as big. I will film the tank again soon. The fish are fed lightly 5 days a week. No coral food at all.

  • what type of lighting are you using over the tabk obviuosly metal halide but what brand intensity all the details please thank you...

  • @alexsgirlz Actually it is VHO not halide: It has three 24 inch VHO tubes: 2 Actinic White and 1 Actinic. Thanks for watching!

  • @styx1981 nice tank! love how you did not overstock it!:)

  • @ncharrison Thank you friend!

  • What is the lighting on this tank. I am setting up a similar corner tank right now in a Fluval tank that comes with a built in fixture with 2 T5's but it looks like you might have something more than that.

  • @wwarwick Hello friend...it has three 24 inch VHO tubes: 2 Actinic White and 1 Actinic. They are the fat tubes...aren't those T12's?

  • Can anyone tell me what the grassy looking stuff on the walls of the tank is and how it is placed there?

gosh everytime i see this tank, im as impressed as the first time i saw it.

  • @my89tube Hello friend. That stuff is star polyps. Once you get it established it will grow up the walls of the tank.

  • @styx1981 wow that is amazing! the way it ruffles around like that looks unreal. how long does it take to get established?

  • @my89tube It grows pretty fast if it likes your tank. This is a few years worth of growth that started from one rock.

  • well I am using a tunze power head nano in my 30 gallon reef tank should that be ok for my softy corals and green bubble anemones? a biowheel filter 200 is ok in a reef tank for my soft corals and green bubble anemone?

  • @tvshowuploader3 That sounds pretty good.

  • HI I got a tap water conditioner for my reef tank should that be fine to remove heavy metals and algae as well? heavy metals are algae?

  • @tvshowuploader3 Hello friend...I'm not sure. I only use RO water on my reef tanks so that there are no metals, phosphate, chorine, etc.

  • how many pounds of live rock do you have in there?

  • @my89tube Hello friend...it's not that much rock. Maybe 60-70 pounds I would guess.

  • @styx1981 ahh I see, but that confuses me cause its 60-70 pounds of live rock in a 50 gal tank?

About much live rock do you think I should have in our 90 gal tank? Im guessing we only have about 30-40 pounds in there atm, actually maybe even less.

  • @my89tube You know it really can vary a lot on how much live rock is in a tank. You don't have to stack it solid or cover the whole back. You can also make caves and/or stagger the rock to create more open space. To me, that's one of the best parts of reef building...use your imagination and see what you can create.

  • Dude your tank is sexual. I have a 90 gal corner and we tried to do some corals but it failed miserably. It was damn dissapointing. Our fish are doing fine though.

anyways, beautiful tank! one of the best ive seen.

  • I thought the star colony was some giant sebae anemone or something!

  • @nerodiasipedon Yes it has gotten really huge!

  • thanks for the info

  • dude how did you grow coral in your corner tank my 50 gal corner tank i cant grow coral wat lights are you using?

  • @runescapew00t1 I use 3 24 inch VHO bulbs with the Icecap ballast on this tank.

  • ya i have a question. i had a 30g and a 75g saltwater aquarium, but got out of it two years ago. i just tarted up a 12g nano cube. when i put the sand in it got real cloudy, it settled but the water is still cloudy a bit. what should i do to clear the tank.

  • Hey there...I would put a small square of blue filter floss in the overflow area. This should catch the sand debris in a few hours.

  • I am going to be doing some aquarium maintenance tips videos very soon. Does anyone have any specific concerns I could answer?

  • tank looks amazing... however a tang requires a 75g tank minimum. it will live in a smaller one, but it's not right. it's like you living in a 10'x10' house. it would suck.

  • Hey thanks for watching...No worries on the tang. I have about 80 other tanks it can go into as I run a local aquarium service and have been in the biz for 25 years now.

This is actually a pretty small tang selected specifically for this tank. Remember also that the different types of tangs have different adult sizes and requirements. I think he's pretty content in here.

  • @styx1981 ha ha ,,love the way you replied to toxicask,,,,nice tank by the way,i am currently converting a 42 gallon tank from cichlids to marine,,hope i can get it looking as good as yours

  • @cragz Thanks! Good luck you can do it!

  • I just want to say that your tank looks amazing! The corals look beautiful. Im after a black corner marine tank like yours and was wondering where you got it from?

  • Thank you friend...I actually acquired this tank from an individual who was getting rid of it.

  • that is nothing short of amazing.....Looks great how the starpolps grew up the back...

  • Thank you friend!

  • hey nice tank buetyful corals im 12 just started a 55 gallon any tips on coral growing and what typ of lights are good for keeping carpet nenies and soft corals

  • Thank you friend. You need good flow and good lights. I use VHO bulbs on my reef systems. Good luck!

  • Are the VHO lights as good as the new t-3 lights?

  • I think it just comes down to how many watts you have and if the color is pleasing to the eye and the corals...i like a lot of actinic blue-end.

  • Thanks keep up the great work

  • Thank you friend!

  • Dude is that Galaxia you have in there? please tell me it isn't Galaxia thats so close to everything else Oh my God OH MY GOD.

  • No...it's star polyps..lol

  • That is a seriously beautiful tank man... GREAT job! WOW!

  • Thank you friend!

  • plz tell me one by onr how can i make my aquarium like ur's when i saw ur aquarium next day i went to store and I got a same aquarium like ur's and i wana have the same corals and some things .

plz tell me one by one..

also tell me where can i buy those (kalkwasser drip, iodine, molybdenum, and trace elements)

    Thank You

  • plZ tell me what kind of corals u have and what kind of lighting u have also wha kind of corals food u using and also i want to know if ur using a calcium reactor

  • Thanks for watching...I use kalkwasser drip, iodine, molybdenum, and trace elements. That's it...good light and good flow...

I use 3 24 inch VHO bulbs with the Icecap ballast on this tank.

  • are u selling ur tank if yes how much

  • No friend...I am not selling.

  • Love the reef tank dude but how did u make your corals grow very fast? do u have a treatment for them that will help corals grow larger right? or what do u add in your sump that will help corals grow larger like yours? nice finding nemo tank are u going to add a bubble anemone in their because u are expert of keeping corals dude?

  • Thanks for watching...I use kalkwasser drip, iodine, molybdenum, and trace elements. That's it...good light and good flow...

  • @styx1981 so in your sump tank is just a protein skimmer and a power head water pump right? can u tell me the name of the treatment to let corals grow faster thanks?

  • Yes that's correct. I use Kent molybdenum/strontium liquid, Kent iodine liquid, and Kent trace elements. Plus kalkwasser drip for calcium.

  • @styx1981 how many days should I use the treatements to let corals grow and can u tell me how to u use thanks? and how many drops of treatment I should add in my 36 gallon bowfront tank thanks because I want to make my own coral farm too?

  • I add 1 capful per 50 gallons each week of each treatment...so that would be about 70% of a cap for you.

  • @styx1981 So this treatment will help corals to grow for many weeks instead of a sump becaus emy corals all ways stay the same side for 2 years but now it is not growing thats why I need treatment help for my corals to grow like yours?

  • Yes it should help. Remember three things: good water movement, good lighting, and good nutrients. These are the keys for coral growth.

  • I am using biowheel 200 and a pro3 power head is that ok watermovement for my soft coral before I put that coral vite food for my corals right?

  • I usually just go by the movement of the corals. If the polyps are opening and they wave around you probably have enough flow. Too much flow and they will not open.

  • wow nice setup very nice.

can you tell me what kind of coral or anemone is that the pink one and the green one the left hand side and on the bottom one's

  • Thank you friend. The large pink one is a toadstool leather coral. The green corals are all colonies of star polyps.

  • very nice again :) what is that growing on overflow and left background?

  • Thank you. Those are green star polyps that have grown all over the tank.

  • thx for the fast answer, what lightening do u use?

  • I use 3 24 inch VHO bulbs with the Icecap ballast on this tank. I just went over there yesterday and the big leather coral is twice as big as it is in the first video. Everything keeps growing like crazy!

  • That looks fantastic.

  • Thank you friend!

  • How long has this been set up?

  • It was an existing tank I purchased used about 2 years ago. Haven't done much to it really just a few tweaks.

  • whats the dimensions of this tank

  • Dimensions of the Tank are: 27.25"L X 27.25"W X 22.5"H (55"H with Stand)

  • Great Job Styx!

  • Thank you friend :)

  • Feel free to leave comments if you would like. Hope you enjoy the tank.
