I absolutely love this story, these songs, this movie, this musical, this masterpiece. Thank you for uploading it. It's truly a beautiful movie, and I fall more and more in love with it every time I watch it. I will see this performed live during my lifetime, I swear I will.
I actually teared up. I -actually- teared up. Wanted to cry. The urge was there. While watching a musical. Me! Gettin' all sniffy over a musical! But it was a good one. This is now one of my favorite movies. It's a little short, I was hoping there would be more to it.
I think Hedwig was Gnosis in a way, but shaped Tommy in the image instead of himself because he felt that he should still play the role of a woman. The only reason he had the sex change was for Luther, which makes the end of this movie so brilliant. When Hedwig accepts his own image, Yitzhak is allowed to be himself. It's all about finding what you are made of.
i can't find it either. so thank you so much. fucking awsome. mmmmmmmichael pitt...did he do his own singing for his version of "wicked little town" i wonder?
Wow! I have never seen this film before now, I saw some poeple talking about it on TV, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was much better than I thought it would be, and can't believe Iv'e never seen it before! Also, the songs were brilliant! haha :)
@lerocleroc My friend who is a girl played that role in a play version of this. If you notice throughout the film, Yitzhak has a higher voice then Hedwig and is obsessed with the wigs that Hedwig wears.
The Knife brought me to this video and I must say it didn't let me down. Very powerful and I am glad I watched it. I too thank you for your posting of this video.
I love this movie. Every time I see it, I feel both content and pissed at the end. I am glad that Hedwig finds himself, but the changes he went through cannot be taken back and I cannot help but get pissed at Luther and his mom and everybody and the wall being taken down just after a short while he had the operation.
One of my and my wife's favorite movies of all time. Brilliant in so many ways: wonderful music, excellent writing and a superb performance by John Cameron Mitchell. Never has such a tragic story been so funny and moving at the same time, while leaving you singing "I put on my makeup ..." long after the titles are over. Oscar worthy in so many ways.
Uniquely beautiful and warm and really humane movie. Thanx for sharing!
Question: How come the translation is in Greek? I am just wondering because I am Greek and I rarely find on utube something so beautiful translated in Greek.
This movie made me cry. :( it's so sad at the end. I got a bit confused towards the end though. What's going on with him walking down the road naked??
Ive been looking all over my town for a copy of this movie on dvd. Following my fruitless search, I turned to youtube.
By surreptitious means, I now have this entire movie on my Ipod. Thank you janeyissilent. I absolutely love this movie, and now I have it on the go. I watch and sing along on my hourlong bus ride :)
Thanks for reposting. I cried again, and my friend Arlene across the continent got to witness Hedwig for the first time. Thanks. Now I wake up and turn back into myself :-)

Yeah, when I finished, my eyes watered a little. I'm not sure if it was because I was tired or because it was so sad. Probably both. Haha.
