How wonderful, I wish you had all of it here. I lost my copy and have wanted to replace it. Now I have to go and order it. This changed my life when I first heard it. Spiritual wisdom for me doesn't get any better than Thaddeus Golas. It is all right there in his info, ALL the answers. Thanks for reminding me to replace my lost copy. Cheers! Love & Light.
I discovered this book recently - its a jewel. When you have had an experience of "reality" life is never going to be OK again. Trapped back in the "normal" is like being stuck in a dream - and knowing it. His ideas have given me some more pieces in the puzzle and I think he wrote it for himself as much as for others in this dilemma - where its a lonely place....for those who understand what I am saying.
Discipline is not a requisite for understanding a deep truth, but it is necessary if one wants to be effective at reducing other beings' intense suffering. I prefer o live in an universe where enlightenment goes hand in hand with the highest and better designed ways of helping those in need.
It has been a long time since I have seen my copy of this beautiful little book. Let's be laziest still: Expand. Be permeative. Don't resist. Love as much as you can. Expansion/love is available right now. Love youself for doing what you are doing.
I just read this book in it's entirety at freespace and I would Very Highly recommend to anybody who happen to find themselves in a place where they're asking "why". Just because the enlightened have superegos doesn't mean that they're not going to hit a rough spot, life has too many variables.
fuck this shit, (joking, kind of) practice internal tai chi and meditation or you are just a lazy man with no Tai chi. You will be a hapless shade wence you pass into the white or black band, then disolve. Retain your humanity. Meditate. It will take time.

god damn hippies. this WHOLE video is just a load of bullshit to make stoners and fucking lazy ass people feel that having no meaning somehow is good. it helps people who dont want to do anything with their lives, to ignore their purpose and help them feel content about it. it makes them feel good that to be the leech sucking off of society and everyone elses hardwork
hmmm...not once in the video did he mention leeching off of other people's hard work...
have you ever experienced enlightenment and true acceptance of the universe as it is? if you had, you might not be saying this. it's something much more amazing than i suspect you know.
as far as not doing anything with your life, i think all this ambition everyone has is the real waste. Looking at the bigger picture is a noble pursuit.
Also, are you a Christian? because Jesus said similar things.
I feel and sense that all of this is true and the simplisity is amazing, just so right. But then again i fear that it could not be =)) if that sorta makes sense... :(
i was going to argue to the whole "there is nothing you need to do before being enlightened" thing, saying that enlightenment must be more fulfilling if it is achieved through hard work...
but fulfillment is all to do with the individual ego, which leads to useless pride...
FYI: Tad Golas revised the Guide for the Audio reading; this was voluntary. LSD and "Trip-Out" lingo was outdated. Some chapters confused readers, etc. Also, he had much more to say, and snuck minute changes everywhere in the reading. He wrote more books which have never been published but will be, at last, starting 2008. His fans can look up the website in his name for info. He may have moved on from this reality, but he left much, much, more for all who enjoyed his writing.
Bhumi is the Sanskrit name for Mother Earth in hinduism, but I guess it can also describe certain levels of reality, like the word loka for example. Yes, absolute enlightenment is a big deal.
Good observation. This is what I read somewhere (see links in the video):
"In 1988 an audio version of The Guide was recorded. The audiobook was abridged and contained only two-thirds of the content of the printed edition.
Golas changed some of the content and it is interesting to listen to the tape and follow the words in the printed book. In the audiobook most mentions of LSD and sex were excluded from the recording."
Recently I was asked, "What led to your opening up to cosmic consciousness?"
Was it at age fourteen during dental work, under gas, when I was aware of the pain as spirals of light? Was it when I slammed my head against a wall in Holland during World War II, was knocked out, and realized I was out in space seeing stars as I was coming to (just like the comic strips!)?
Was it in 1950, when I casually wrote in my journal, "Space is to energy as energy is to mass"—an idea that kept me busy for twenty years, especially after I equated space with consciousness?
Was it the satori in a Manhattan, Kansas, restaurant in 1966? Was it in 1969 when, the very weekend I was having a pamphlet published with my theories (terrible writing, impossible to read now), I was offered LSD and went Home? That was when I decided I wouldn't advertise my personal illumination, but would try to show it by my behavior and by what I produced. And it seems I succeeded, miraculously, with The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment [published in 1972].
Thanks, that's very interesting. I like people's stories, but clearly, the teaching is important, and was important to him. In Tibetan Buddhism, there are 10 "bhumis," like levels...absolute enlightenment is a very big deal.
Likewise, one could say phenomena is illusion. And conversely, what we experience is absolutely "real," ipso facto. In any case, within the realm of dynamics and relationships, science works, causality has meaning. And the Tibetan Buddhists have been like scientists or psychologists, careful cartographers of the landmarks on the way of spiritual development.
Yes, this video is just meant to inspire people to read the book. It's the only part of the audiobook (which you can freely download online) with good sound quality. That's why I made a video of it. If I ever end up in a bad trip, I can just go online and watch this video.

What happened to "with or without psychedelic help," and why did extreme freak-out or space out turn in to crisis.

The book did help me in times of inner and/or outer turmoils ,the video is great but the text is so dense
that I think you better read and think it through first to get the flavor of it.Maybe our world is too fastpaced now for this now?
