ALL mmorpgs seem awesome before theyre released and theyre being hyped. i dunno, im not sold on this game at all. that smuggler has the WAR witchhunter stance but the animation is terrible. the cover system looks too out of place for an mmo. just my opinion, im sure the game will do well and alot of people will love it. i think my mmorpg career is over, nothing is doing it for me anymore
i've played tons of mmos and honestly graphics are the least of ur problems if ur a developer. Gameplay and getting enough consistent people joining the game is the hardest part. Plus this is just beta so i guess the graphics are going to be much better and i really dig the old school republic choose ur side type of gameplay.
the beta is so much better now this is an old video as a tester i would know plus i report any bugs i find to bioware to fix in return i get to play the game my character is level 15 already and i have 500,000 republic credits so im a head of the game
Am I the only one noticing that when the toon s targeted on a mob that the toon's shoulders stay squared up with that mob? Are you serious? I actually don't mind the graphics. Certain games have certain art "styles" but animations in this game are choppy and way terrible. I want to play it but god damn comon bio.

- Wii is a "gamer" platform; just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't. Yes, it may have a number of sub-par games, but then again, so does EVERY console; it has a lot of really good games as well.
- The Old Republic is for PC, BioWare is putting a ton of effort into this game, and it is not just a copy of Everquest, WOW, ect. Your comments indicate you have done little to no research on the subject.

It's in a cartoon style anyway, the graphics look pretty good for what it is. On HD video's it's looking rather smooth, I'm glad they have spent time on it.

@nicknicchamp well....you can go solo if you want, but its not seperate. since its an mmo, its a multiplayer game. You will also get better gear from group (multiplayer) stuff than solo (single player) stuff.
@nicknicchamp since its an mmo ( which is Masivle multiplayer online) game, you can group up with people. the better gear i'm talking about is from the instances that require a group of people to complete (you have to play with other people). it's already multiplayer. you just have a choice to group with people. if you play this, you will choose which server you wana play on. each server will have a lot of people playing in the same area as you.
@GamerRaden the planet you start on depends on which class you chose. The way you play the game is you complete quests, level up, group with people, explore other planets, and craft some of your own equipment. You can also pvp. They got a good bit to do.
For people who still complain about the graphics, they HAVE improved. The "Best Graphics" even surpass games like Borderlands in sharpness, detail, and color. It's pretty amazing. But their "basic" is somewhere along this level, meaning that even a laptop with an integrated card can do very well in playing this game.

WOW has been the number 1 MMO for years now (even if it is not as good as it used to be), and MMO's in general are still hugely popular.
The story for this game does matter; its perhaps the biggest driving force for it besides the voice acting. Bioware is putting a lot of effort into making this the best and biggest MMO since World of Warcraft...
... and considering their track record (KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, ect), I'm inclined to be optimistic. Its getting pretty good reviews so far from what I've heard.
We should at least reserve final judgement until the game actually comes out, though, right? :)

Well, you're more than within your right to do that, but I think it is a shame that you are gonna pass up the best MMO (possibly) since WOW just because it doesn't have amazing graphics. WOW itself has somewhat cartoony graphics.
Also, games like the original KOTOR (which basically has the same play style as this) and The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind also don't have amazing graphics by today's standards (Morrowind especially), yet people still continue to buy them because...
Still, it is your decision; I just wish you wouldn't give up on the game because the graphics could be better.

Graphics aren't everything, even for pc games. Some of the best pc games ever (like Deus Ex) have terrible graphics (at least by today's standards), yet are still worshipped by countless people even to this day.
Also, who says MMO's have to have state-of-the-art graphics? There are plenty of MMOs with less-than-breathtaking graphics, yet they are huge successes.
PC, XBOX, Wii, MMO, RPG, FPS... it makes no difference. Graphics are only one part of the game.
All I'm really saying is that I think you shouldn't pass this game up solely based on graphics; everything else about it seems amazing from what I've read.

I dont agree that just smugglers have the cover skill, why should that be a skill?? Everyone should be alowed to find cover that should be like jumping....
@OddeyeDL why would a jedi need cover when he/she can just deflect lasers and whatnot? im pretty sure that the imp agent has some kind of cover ability but in my oppinion if you have loads of armor (bounty hunter, trooper) or a lightsaber (all force user classes) than theres no point in taking cover... the cover system to me is what levels the playing field when going against other classes... so that being said if the other classes had the cover ability theres no winning as a smuggler.

Hmm...You know even though this game will probably have more people than wow playing it, better graphics, smoother gameplay and all that, a game doesn't have to "pass wow" in subscribers to beat the game. You can't have companions in WoW that do stuff with you or for you, excuse me, you can have a minion or a troll or a fox or something like that.

I know what you're saying. Games have to have health though. Just imagine everyone going around and just popping you with one blaster shot. @TheJedimaster6788 I was thinking that if you have a melee weapon, then you should move in secret, or hide your blade. Carefully get closer to the enemy, and then attack. That's how melee vs ranged weapons work. There are plenty of games were you have to be careful when you draw your sword. I know that that's sounds like Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed but thats how I think it should be.
Maybe its cause I'm not a kid anymore and I want a reasonable amount of realism.

I don't understand why the only complaint people have against this game is because of graphics......Bioware already stated that they want everyone to play this, even if there computer is over 5 years old. The graphics aren't bad, like snorlaqs says. The graphics cant go all Crysis 2 or geras of war. An Massively Multiplayer Online game couldn't have those graphics, otherwise it would lag like crazy.

@JMDub89 As i already said i agree graphics aren't everything, but for a pc game, they ARE, especially an MMO at that. Thats why even indie mmo's such as EVE Online can be a huge sucess, because if I want to explore the universe I want to do it in high quality.

Graphics aren't everything, even for pc games. Some of the best pc games ever (like Deus Ex) have terrible graphics (at least by today's standards), yet are still worshipped by countless people even to this day.
Also, who says MMO's have to have state-of-the-art graphics? There are plenty of MMOs with less-than-breathtaking graphics, yet they are huge successes.
PC, XBOX, Wii, MMO, RPG, FPS... it makes no difference. Graphics are only one part of the game.

@OddeyeDL why would a jedi need cover when he/she can just deflect lasers and whatnot? im pretty sure that the imp agent has some kind of cover ability but in my oppinion if you have loads of armor (bounty hunter, trooper) or a lightsaber (all force user classes) than theres no point in taking cover... the cover system to me is what levels the playing field when going against other classes... so that being said if the other classes had the cover ability theres no winning as a smuggler.

Hmm...You know even though this game will probably have more people than wow playing it, better graphics, smoother gameplay and all that, a game doesn't have to "pass wow" in subscribers to beat the game. A game is rated overall in how it plays and what it is. You can't have companions in WoW that do stuff with you or for you, excuse me, you can have a minion or a troll or a fox or something like that.
WoW needs to die...it's time. New combat system in wow sucks. They dumbed it down also

I know what you're saying. Games have to have health though. Just imagine everyone going around and just popping you with one blaster shot. That wouldn't be very fun...imagine spawning and then every second getting popped...you wouldn't stay on the game for more than 10 min at a time. I mean it's fun in kotor with the killblaster but...that's different hahah!!

@TheJedimaster6788 I was thinking that if you have a melee weapon, then you should move in secret, or hide your blade. Carefully get closer to the enemy, and then attack. That's how melee vs ranged weapons work. There are plenty of games were you have to be careful when you draw your sword. I know that that's sounds like Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed but thats how I think it should be.
Maybe its cause I'm not a kid anymore and I want a reasonable amount of realism.

I don't understand why the only complaint people have against this game is because of graphics......Bioware already stated that they want everyone to play this, even if there computer is over 5 years old. The graphics aren't bad, like snorlaqs says. The graphics cant go all Crysis 2 or geras of war. An Massively Multiplayer Online game couldn't have those graphics, otherwise it would lag like crazy.
