  • The program in the video is inefficient. INSTEAD increase strength as quickly as possible (up to at least 12 reps at bodyweight) BEFORE reducing the rest period. Do as many reps as you can do with strict FORM(upper chest to the bar NOT the chin) and TEMPO by pulling up as fast as you can and then slowly lowering yourself for 4 seconds on each rep. Rest at least 3-4 minutes between sets. Use as many or as few sets to reach 24 reps in total. Rest at least 48 hours between chin up workouts.

  • First, standardize the technique on EVERY rep by pulling your upper chest to bar. The rep doesn't count unless your upper chest touches the bar. Don't follow the technique in this vidoe and try to just "pull your chin over" because there is too much variation in range of motion from rep to rep. For example, on the first rep you are strong and 2 inches over the bar and then as you get weaker you are only 1 inch and then on your last few reps you are barely over at all.

  • You should only be doing chin ups once a week, you need proper time for the muscles to heal before breaking them down. Also the number of repititions is garbage, you should be doing chin ups to failure for 3 sets.

  • @objective33 You can do more than once a week. Most muscles are finished healing within 48 hours. I do another workout when my muscles aren't sore any more. Sometimes its 2 days or 3. But I do agree with you on rest. Rest is equally important as the workout.

  • I use to be able to do 12 reps x 3sets up, now i cant even do 2! but i did wide grip, palms out, & really slow ones to work out the upper body till i fell off. was a killer workout.

  • @fuckinwok Thats called a "Pull-Up" not a "Chin-Up"

  • You're actually supposed to do chin-ups with your palms facing away from you, because chin-ups are designed to be super-efficient at working your lats. the way described in this video would work out mostly your biceps, but you're better off doing curls if you want to work those muscles out.

  • Its actually better if you don't lower yourself down slowly, because you waste energy that way.

    You can gain aout 2-3 pull ups just from going down fast.....
