  • xiejianlijason, there is no such thing as "sustainable globalization." That's the point. Only locally based economies can be sustained, and even then they must be based on cooperative behavior, not one based on ruthless competition.

    Look how the native Americans lived, and compare that with how modern capitalist societies function. Enough said.

  • Exactly! John goes on to explain that Adam Smith and Ricardo envisioned Capitalism functioning within a moral and just society. It was called 'Classical Capitalism. They could not envision a day, when we would would accept anything less that that.

    The Capitalism we have today is called Neo-Classical Capitalism; devoid of ethic and designed only to create profit. Neo-Capitalism is unsustainable, because it violates social and ecological systems conditions for sustainability.
