I agree with your Mom's philosophy about Thanksgiving and it is SO important that we have an attitude of gratitude every day. Beautiful pink look, too! :)
Good lord whats with all the hate on this video? Can't we all just agree to disagree? I think some people just need to take a nice long breath and stop taking things so damn seriously.
Opinions are like assholes people everyone has one and they all stink.
I know this is totally random but how do you like the Great lash mascara? I've been looking for a cheap mascara as money has just become really tight for me.
I completely agree with your opinion on thanksgiving! :)
and you have helped me see pink in a new light. lmfao. I LOVE this look and no offense but i hate pink. :P but think this look is awesome might try it out one day :P
could you do a look using greens please :) i love green especially mint green, but i can't find a tutorial that im crazy about using mint and green colours so would love you to do one :)
I appreciate your point of view towards Thanksgiving but I do have to as you something. Does this mean that you do not celebrate Christmas (because we should not need one day to celebrate God's birth) or do you not celebrate the Fourth of July ( because we should not need one day to celebrate the USA) you know what I mean? I am not by any means being rude but I was just curious because that could really be said about any holiday.
I totally get what you're saying and I didn't grow up not having thanksgiving dinner, (though this year I didn't). That wasn't my point at all. I was merely trying to address that we should try to be grateful every single day, if we're not already. But to go off what you're saying I play with sparklers on random nights of the year actually lol and buy gifts for people just because I may see something I know they'll appreciate or like. However I was not raised religious & don't celebrate
I agreed with you, i think about it every special day, like birthhday and cristmas, i live in potugal and here dont exists thnksgiving.... but what i wanna say its i really dont like this days... everyday is special.... thats it!!! :) i love too see that eyes on you is very nice, and you are with red hair? looks gorgeous. have a nice day.
I totally agree that we should be grateful for each day, for another one is not guaranteed. And, to be thankful for all that we have, and don't have.I believe that it's wonderful that we stop what were doing for one day a year, and just be thankful! It's just a day to show peace and love. And, be with family that is impossible every day of the year.A day to celebrate like any other holiday,or birthday.
I cut them to fit my eye - as I do with all lashes. These are not cut exactly in half, but almost. And normally I add the pieces to the end for extra volume though with this pair I haven't done that.
Haha, I love Thanksgiving for the reason you dont care for it. My Mom loved T-day she was Japanese and not from here. That was the day that all of her family for sure would be together and feast cause we didn't have to work. I am thankful everyday not because of a holiday. My Mom died of cancer 2004 and cooked her last Thanksgiving meal 2003 even though she was sick she insisted on it. I really really miss her. Yes be grateful for dark times because they make you appreciate the LIGHT.
i used pink for my makeup on thanksgiving hehe but did not take pics damn!! but ill do a vid on it soon cause it came out sooo pretty lol i usually coordinate my holidays with my makeup but this year i wanted to weat pink anyway now im rambling love ur vids
i respectfully don't agree with your opinion about the holiday; i think it's more about getting families together that don't ordinarily get to see each other, and creating memories with those people. of course we should be thankful every day, but what's wrong with a day dedicated to it as well?
I'm actually happy to be getting the responses from you all that I am in regards to the day because I suppose I have the belief that I do, not only because of what my mom instilled in us, but because for most people I've known in my life, it's not about the family, but as I stated - a day off work, let's eat and shop the next day. I guess also because my family is so incredibly small and I can't think of one TG where there wasn't arguing. Any family gathering for me = arguing. So I may be jaded
ah arguing families could definitely put a damper on the day. i'm really close to my small family and don't get to see them often because i'm away at school, so i really look forward to coming home and spending time with them. all families have their share of drama (this year my immediate family went to a family friend's house instead of my cousin's)...but it's nice to spend time with those you love. i hope future thanksgivings are less superficial for you!
Thank you for sharing your opinion. It really reminds me that we are all different and special in our own way. Thanks for telling us about the Ponds wipes, I am going to buy those tomorrow they clean up the makeup really good. I am sure they are cheaper than the MAC ones.
you're absolutely right about people needing to be thankful everyday and that's what religion and/or morals are for... what's wrong with having a holiday unique to our nation? as americans we can't have nationalized religious holidays and independence day isn't unique to us so yay for thanksgiving! and who cares if it's a little commercialized, we're in a recession and people are still buying... why? because it makes us feel a little better. live it, love it! haha ps, you're amazing risa!
i agree with tha whole thanxgiving comment...some holidays (thanxgiving + Christmas) are so commercialized now...christmas iz more about who can buy who tha best gift...itz so not wat its supposed to be about...thatz why i dont celebrate...i just eat!!
I know that you do your eyeliner the way you do because it changes the shape of your eye, and I've noticed that the technique that you use in this video is one that you use for a lot of your looks. I'm wondering if there's something about it that changes your eye shape like the eyeliner or if you just like the way that it looks because it's different and a little bit more fun than a regular smoky eye?
Thats exactly how I feel about Valentine's day. Why do we need one day to prove we love eachother when we should be loving eachother all year round =)
Well, it depends on the technique, but generally, yes I always do the crease because it #1, provides structure and #2, if it's a dark crease color and light lid, and the dark falls on the lid during application you can remove it so the lid color isn't muddy. When I apply lid colors, I always "pack" them on rather than brush (does that make sense?) so they're more concentrated, vibrant and stay on longer. If I were to do the lid first, theres a chance I could accidentally sweep some of the lid
We don't have to say "I AM THANKFUL" every day to know that we are thankful. I think that Thanksgiving is a time where families get together and share some good laughs. Just like any other holiday, its an excuse to have your family together for that one day, night or weekend (whatever it may be) because otherwise work and life gets in the way (whether we like to admit this or not). Sometimes actions (more than words) will show our everyday gratitude to those around us as well as for what we have
can u do more videos that dont have burnt burgandy in them or can u recommend a substitute? cos iv noticed a lot of your videos mostly involve that particular pigment, and its been discontinued so i cant get hold of any.
It's discontinued!?!?!!! *gasp* well damn then I need to stop using it so much also. :/ Sketch eyeshadow by MAC is really similar just not as...pigmented lol But it's really similar in color.
it is in the UK at least iv looked in a MAC pro store as well and they dont have any so i am to assume it is! but take my word on that as i dont live in the US :) thank you though!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Celebrating the Holiday is more about celebrating history and the cultural acceptance that inspired it. It shouldn't be looked down upon and perceived as people only be thankful on a certain day and there is no reason that it should be painted with that negative and assuming brush. Perhaps people should do some research on how Thanksgiving came to be and what it means instead of making commentary that insults those who DO understand the purpose and appreciate it.
I understand what you're getting at but honestly, I don't believe most people partake in that aspect. It's an excuse to have a day off work and eat large amounts of food. And even in regards to the "historical aspect" are you so sure that thanksgiving really went down the way our american history books taught us? Talk to some Native Americans and I'm sure they'd tell you a very different story.
Risa, with all due respect, what makes you think I am not Native American and what Native Americans do you know who were there to tell their story? ;) You shouldn't take offense as you were the one who basically put down those who appreciate the holiday when you smacked their genuine intent with your broad brush of disregard and assumption. A simple apology would have been fine. Making snide remarks about something that does nothing to hurt you is pointless and does you no favors. Disappointing.
When did I put down anyone who appreciates the holiday? I merely stated my opinion. If you took offense to what I said, which you clearly did, that was your own ego getting in the way. I didn't make any snide remarks either. And there was nothing I said that I should apologize for. I made a clear statement that we should all attempt to be grateful everyday rather than once a year. You left your comment assuming I was insulting people when I never once did.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you felt your attempt at a justification was worth the effort you put into it, you should have let my comments stand instead of trying to sway the viewers by removing them. Clearly, you needed to do to put yourself in a better light. Very telling. And assuming we need to be reminded of when or how to be grateful is very holier-than-thou of you...but how grateful I am that the world is not comprised of people like you. Stick to eyeshadow. Comprehension and common sense are not your fortay;(
I didn't remove any of your comments actually. They're still here aren't they? I don't need, nor do I attempt to portray myself in any light. People will have their opinions which they're entitled to, just as I am entitled to mine. You came here clearly wanting to argue with me. That is what other people see or they wouldn't have thumbed down all of your comments. Have a nice day and please for your own sake, try to let go of your ego.
I reread your comment, and I hope I didn't come off as combative because that wasn't my intention. I wasn't trying to paint the day in a negative light, but merely stating my opinion on it. I do think it's great that families come together to spend time etc but my point was simply to be grateful everyday, not just one day out of the year.
Oh don't worry. Many of us are grateful everyday for the ability to not put down the beliefs of others. It is that very intolerance of other beliefs and cultures that brought about the meaning of the Holiday and coming together for a common need - food and support from other human beings. Sorry your family missed the boat on the intent and that their assumptions make them so judgemental of others. Maybe you'd like to take a shot at Christmas too while you're on a roll?
so you're mad cause she supposedly made judgements on ppl who celebrate thanksgiving while simultaneously judging HER family and even going as far as to basically call them selfish and heartless. real nice. and the whole first thanksgiving story is BS, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows and exchanges of recipes sorry to say.
ok this is going to sound really ridiculous, but i need to tell you how much your minivlog meant to me. my fiance of 5 years left me recently, and i've been completely distraught over it, and listening to what you said about how bad things have to happen in order for good things to happen really opened up my eyes. so thanks for inadvertently giving me a brighter outlook on things!
I don't really have an opinion on thanksgiving, i don't hate it necessarily but i don't love it either. I don't even really think of it much :P but i agree with you.
Hi Risa! I love the makeup! Way too dramatic for me to pull off, but it's HOT on you! I have a question. Did your nose piercing hurt? I've been interested in peoples piercings lately, because i want to get the 2nd row on my ears XD

Maybe you'd like to take a shot at Christmas too while you're on a roll?

so you're mad cause she supposedly made judgements on ppl who celebrate thanksgiving while simultaneously judging HER family and even going as far as to basically call them selfish and heartless. real nice. and the whole first thanksgiving story is BS, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows and exchanges of recipes sorry to say.

ok this is going to sound really ridiculous, but i need to tell you how much your minivlog meant to me. my fiance of 5 years left me recently, and i've been completely distraught over it, and listening to what you said about how bad things have to happen in order for good things to happen really opened up my eyes. so thanks for inadvertently giving me a brighter outlook on things!
also, love the tutorial. you are so talented!

Hi Risa! I love the makeup! Way too dramatic for me to pull off, but it's HOT on you! I have a question. Did your nose piercing hurt? I've been interested in peoples piercings lately, because i want to get the 2nd row on my ears XD

Pikapookie : When I had my nose pierced it didn't really hurt, you just kinda feel a slight pinch, but it does make your eyes water :)
Another really nice look Risa :)
