If only Supergirl had a villian worthy of fighting, (and frankly, a MUCH shorter skirt), this film wouldn't have been so bad. If you get past the preposterous plot and "challenges" she faces, Helen Slater was actually a pretty good casting choice. The 'evil' she faces in this film is simply beneath her.

why is this film always getting slated? i loved it as a kid (born 82), wanted to be just like supergirl, was inspiring! I really dont see how it differs from superman films? werent they 'shit' too? I think it was a great attempt at making a movie where the hero was a girl in this male dominated world, and im sure the reason it was not as much of a success as it could have been is due to the men who created it!

Hot supergirl, dreadful effects (stretch Armstrong), Mommie dearest the sequel (cllleeaaan uuup tthhiiss MMEESSS!!), Chuck Woolery watching like a dweeb, her friends who were told to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE but stick around like highway rubberneckers, Vaccaro being her usual annoying self (is she still alive?), but great job on the score. Even if Selena didn't really consider Bianca a friend, Bianca was perfectly willing to help Selena plan world conquest, and stay along for the ride. She wasn't the MAIN bad guy, more like Selena's equivalent of Otis for Lex Luthor, but she WAS a bad guy willing to doom others to die, or watch them die and do nothing. So she deserved punishment, too.

Otis was a poor Malvolio! He was a scapegoat of a Good Idiot(Superman)-Bad Idiot(Lex Luthor) game.

Lex Luthor gave no land for him(Otisburg wasn't accepted, though Luthor gave Ms Teschmacher a small land), but Superman put him in gaol with Luthor, but Luthor and Ms Teschmacher betrayed poor heavy-weighted Otis & left him in gaol alone!

Otis should have kick that disloyal Luthor's penis and punch his nose!

This movie is a guilty pleasure. I'm embaressed that I actually like watching it. Its sooo bad, yet I cant turn away. Does anyone else think its funny that the entire plot revolve around Supergirl and Selena doing battle over their boyfriend? Peter O'toole's best performance ever.

That is so true! I saw this movie with my family 23 years ago and back then I thought it was fun, but i was 11 years old. Now i'm 34 and I think it's silly, it makes me laugh, but it's still alot of fun, and that's what counts. And you are right, it is a guilty pleasure. lol!

That's not what they were fighting for. Was he PART of the battle, yes, but Kara was there for the Omegahedron, because without it Argo City and everyone in it would die. Selena had the Omegahedron, and was using it to conquer the world.

The battle wasn't about Ethan, like I said. he was just a part of it. The main focus was on the fate of two worlds.
