Obviously we all know Tyreke is more fancy with scoring than Curry but its pretty easy to average 20 plus a game when you get the ball every possession like Tyreke does. He has no supporting cast so he has to take over 50 pct of the shots. Steph has a superstar right next to him in Monta Ellis. Curry still scores as much if more points than Tyreke and has to tolerate with another star carrying the load. It's obvious that steph is better no question
Evans was originally a shooting guard/small forward, until coach Calipari forced him to try out point guard at the 11th game of college. From then on he's adopted the mentality and skill of a point guard along with his natural ability of a shooting guard/small forward combination. I wonder if Sacramento or other teams will insert him as a combo guard in the point guard position in the future. He'd be a threat on any team with a (6'4-6'7) solid shooting guard.
Combo guards are dangerous. Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli (to a much smaller degree), Dwyane Wade, Ben Gordon, Gilbert Arenas etc. I think what makes Evans possibly a bit more dangerous than most of these guys is his large height. One can imagine a team with two 6'11's or higher (center and power-forward), a 6'8/9 small forward, a 6'6 shooting guard, and a 6'6 combo guard. Defensively and offensively a threat on both sides.
I just went to some Stephen Curry videos like this, no Kings fans were posting crap about Tyreke Evans on Stephen Curry's video, but Warriors fans are all over Evans' video, Kings fans are more mature than that.
@LIFesGreaZy247LG He's not trying! How could you say that an NBA player and the face of the bucks is not trying? Jennings isn't in the same league as evans, or curry, go suck jennings's dick.
@YawningBoy who is the player whose having the better season right now? whose the player that scored more 30 and 40 point games than tyreke. whose team is doing better? oh yeah i think curry is better
@Emron925A tyreke evans is injured right now but when you have your name on a list with michael jordan, lebron james, and oscar robertson, then you're definitely a really good basketball player. i don't think stephen curry is a bad player but tyreke is really good. he got those numbers in his rookie season; kobe had something like 8, 2, and 1 his rookie season. imagine as tyreke gets more experience playing in the nba.
@Emron925A haha alright i'll just keep it at that then. all basketball fans have their own different opinions. To be honest I don't know who's gonna be better I just know I'm a Tyreke Evans fan.
@YawningBoy i like tyreke a lot. but ive seen a lot of kings games and a lot of warrior games. curry just does more and he's a better overall player. reke has better defense tho of course
@Emron925A In your reply, what happened to strength, clutch, and rebounding, which Evans has?Curry is a better freethrow shooter, but he doesn't get as many attempts, I wouldn't say Curry or Evans are better passers than each other, remember the incredible steal Evans had on Arenas to win the game? That required stealing and clutch. I actually just checked the stats on nba.com, they are both 1.7 steals a game, and curry leads evans by 0.1 more points per game. They are different style players.
@SACKINGZFAN33 curry doesnt need to be a rebounder. hes a point guard. and tyreke is average 0.1 less when hes the dominant player, monta ellis takes 25 shots a game and curry is still averaging that much.
@Emron925A Yeah, your right, but I've already established that Curry is a scorer, and he's got tyreke beat in shooting, Tyreke doesn't need to be a rebounder either, but it helps anyways. All you've argued is Curry's shooting, which isn't everything. Curry's kind of a one trick pony in that way
@Emron925A I"VE ESTABLISHED THAT CURRY IS THE BETTER SCORER!! But Tyreke is the better finisher and driver, other than that aspect of scoring, I know that Curry is the better scorer, not the better passer though. Tyreke doesn't have the shooters around him like Monta Ellis, who you said took all the shots, they don't have David Lee on the block, Curry is only averaging 0.5 assists more with much better players, 2x better players and only 0.5 assists more? Tell me how Curry's a better team player
@SACKINGZFAN33 he DEFINITELY is the the better passer. DEFINITELY! he averaged more assists than tyreke with d league players. even the great craig saban said curry was the best passer coming out of that years draft. kings players even said tyreke was a ballhog. and notice how monta has the ball more than 50% of the time and curry is doing the stuff that hes doing.
@Emron925A Alright dude, you have your opinion, I have mine, I don't want to go back and forth over this, honestly, I like Curry, I have nothing against him, Let's stop this.
Curry is a better SHOOTER(for now) thats it. Sorry GSW fans, but Reke is better in every other facet. Add in that Evans can actually play defense. What good is Curry's 20 ppg if he gives up the same amount on defense to whoever he is "guarding" Evans is a better complete player, Curry the better "fantasy" player.
no yes curry is an amazing player and he will easily be an allstar one day, but tyreke is better. if reke was to not get i would say jennings mainly because he actually got his team to the playoffs. but i see great things for tyreke evans
Curry is a good player dont get me wrong...but curry had better teammates who he can pass too and knock down an open shot and not to mention that Ellis takes pressure off the defense too..whereas tyreke gets doubled team most of the time and is always guarded by the teams best defender...once tyrkeke gets better teammates especially on the wings and develops a better jumpshot je can be unstopabble
Umm wow...to say he can't shoot a mid range jumper is just foolish. His FG% was 45% for the season, and not all of them were lay ups and that's not just an opinion, it's fact.
Wow, before the season everyone was like "wth happened to rubio??? Evans is a garbage pick." Now, everyone wants to see more tyreke. :)))) Tyreke=lay-up king. !!!
@wtfa1davis dude, I gotta say...that is the best comment I've read in comparison with evans and curry, in one word: awesome (Y)...give evans 3 more years he'll be in the top 3 candidates for mvp
continued........The list goes on and on. Also Tyreke was doubled every game and even tripled sometimes, Curry had a much easier time facing less defenders, and weaker defenders. Tyreke had some of the best in the game try and check him, TRY being the key word. Battier and Batum are the only players to stop Evans. SO basically alot of Curry's shots were WIDE open!! Tyreke had to fight and earn everything with whole defenses geared and focused on topping him. STOP HATING!!!!
Curry fans, please realize this one huge factor.Who both players were guarded by against a team,. Tyreke was Guarded by Artest and Kobe against LA, Curry had Fisher on him, Tyreke had LeBron on him, Curry Mo Williams, Tyreke had Gerald Wallace on him, Curry Felton, Tyreke had Ariza and Battier on him, Curry had Brooks, Tyreke had Grant Hill on him, Curry had Nash, Tyreke had Batum, Curry had Miller, Tyreke had Iggy, Curry had AI and Holliday.
Some awesome moments there. Can anyone even remember a rookie having this good of a top 10 moments list? Just full of clutch plays and making history. He is a special player that you will be hearing about for a long time. That's for sure
Steph curry is a beast to but tyrekes taking the rookie of the year and the rookie challenge MVP and 20-5-5.tyreke and curry will be crazy next season.can't wait.Jennings is aight but not as good as curry and not even near Evans.tyreke rookie of the year.he deserves it.go kings.
Tyreke Evans fu*king rocks! Sorry for the language, but that is seriously all that comes to mind. He is the foundation of our future as a team, and even though Steph Curry and the warrior contingent are trying to steal the ROY from 'Reke, he is, in my belief, the better player in my eyes. Go KINGS! Playoffs '11 baby!
@tupark82 To say that Curry DESERVES the award requires audacity. I appreciate that you are a fan of your team, as am I, but to truly say that Steph Curry's SEASON, not 3 months (even though they were a hell of a 3 month stretch of basketball) is ludicrous. There have been only 4 players, including Tyreke whom have achieved 20-5-5 in their rookie season. You know who they are, I don't need to tell you...And guess what? They ALL won Rookie of the Year.
@GenericUserNarne what audacity? are you trying to say because curry didn't get a chance to run the team right away, that he did not out play evans when he DID get the chance to run the team? i'm not a fan of either team, actually. do you even know what curry has done this season? if you do, then you wouldn't say this. tell me why it requires audacity to say curry is deserving, when many experts including rookie analyst for the nba believes that curry is the better overall player.
@tupark82 Again, that isn't the fans fault or mine is it? It is simply a bad front office within the depths of Nellie and his unique style of play. And yes I do, I've heard many of the various arguments: 30 points 10 assist games, nearly 90% at the line, and around .42 from long distance. I understand that these are some amazing achievements for a rookie. The fact is, consistency comes into play for the award. With the fact that Tyreke played with a jumper just further makes it negligible.
@GenericUserNarne If you know the various arguments for Curry, you can't say it takes audacity to say Curry deserves it as well. He is the first rookie EVER to shoot 45%fg/40%3s/85%ft. Think about how impressive that is when you think of all the great shooters in the history of the nba. He holds the rookie record for most 3s made. Only rookie since MJ to have at least 5 games of 30pts/10ast. Evans had ZERO of such games. Only Lebron/Wade had more of such games this season in the entire nba
@tupark82 The 45%/40% 3 point stat is staggering, but he is in fact NOT the first player to do it...A fellow player on the Warriors by the name of Anthony Morrow did. look it up. It is still a great achievement, but certainly not the first. The 3 rookie record is subjective, as Rudy, who held it last year, shot it at a higher clip with less attempts playing off the bench for a playoff team. But also don't discredit that Tyreke averaged 20-5-5, only LeBron and Kobe had achieved it this season.
@GenericUserNarne@GenericUserNarne rudy didn't shoot at a higher clip. he shot 40%, Curry shot 43%. i will send you a link that extensively describes who should be the ROY. you have to check this page. it is an EXCELLENT break down of both. the "first rook" bit i found from nbadotcom, guess they overlooked. impressive correction by you. if you read that article tho, i'd be shocked if u still think evans should be roy based on 20/5/5 alone. that's all he cared about throughout the 2nd half
@tupark82 And also, I am in no way demeaning Curry's game, I do truly feel that he will be an amazing player for the Warriors in the future, but I do personally think that Tyreke will be the better player. Just to throw in some info, Tyreke is only 20 years old, with only a year of college experience, and Steph has 2 years and is almost 23. Tyreke achieved these stats with no jumper, that is absolutely ridiculous. Also, he went to the rack more than ANY player in the league, including LeBron.
@GenericUserNarne the fact that he goes to the rack the most is less impressive when you consider the fact that he shot under 75% from the ft line. ft shooting does matter you know. if you go to the line that many times and shoot that badly, you're actually hurting your team, as those misses are essentially lost possessions. again, i think both have the arguments to win, but to say it takes audacity to say curry deserves it is terrible as curry holds a couple of impressive rookie records now
@tupark82 From what I understand I said to be able to shoot in the paint. Tyreke puts up 8.7 attempts in the paint per game. That is more than ANY player in the NBA, including LeBron, Dwight, what have you. I personally wasn't talking about free throw shooting, just the ability to get in the paint and convert shots, as you may well have seen. (Game winners in Milwaukee and Denver come to mind).
whats the meaning of 20-5-5?

@GenericUserNarne @GenericUserNarne rudy didn't shoot at a higher clip. he shot 40%, Curry shot 43%. i will send you a link that extensively describes who should be the ROY. you have to check this page. it is an EXCELLENT break down of both. the "first rook" bit i found from nbadotcom, guess they overlooked. impressive correction by you. if you read that article tho, i'd be shocked if u still think evans should be roy based on 20/5/5 alone. that's all he cared about throughout the 2nd half
