  • hello, can any of you smart people tell me what this instrument is please?? .....

    /watch?v=4RzPKMehLlk

its the kind of sparkly sounding sounding thing often used in really old cartoons.

    thank you.

  • joe hisaishi should be my alarm clock.

  • I love joes facial expressions when he's conducting xD

  • i taught myself the trumpet solo! ^.^

  • tim morison FTW!

  • sorry for being naive but can someone explaine to me how you get so many different notes from a trumpet with only 3 valves to press

  • @RedJester93

Brass instruments have different harmonics, that is, pitches which can be produced from a given length of tubing. For any valve fingering, there are many notes which can be played. You can experiment with this by playing different notes in a cardboard tube (the longer the better). Alp horns and bugles use this concept. They have no valves at all! By the way, that's not quite what "naive" means.

  • @RedJester93 i agree with partiallyimpartial except in simpler terms, you basically just change your embouchure and amount/ pressure of your air flow to produce higher or lower notes. at least that's what I was taught when I used to be a little novice 5th grader.

and partiallyimpartial, naive means "(of a person or action) Showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment" so jester was actually right xP

  • T_T most Japanese Orchestras gives me goosebumps. Breathtaking. I love them

  • this music deserves you to make another account just to "like" it again

  • the best part 0:00 to 6.43 ... Long Live GHIBLI

  • I need to see a horde of musicians play this. Horde... As in, HORDE. Like EVERY single musician playing this. Let this be heard world wide.

  • am i the only one who shiver when they watch this ><

  • I would like to put a thousand times "I Like"

  • whats your guy's favorite miyazaki film???

  • @1234567mlee

my personal favorites are spirited away and princss mononoke :)

  • @1234567mlee castle in the sky and nausicca ^^

  • Trumpet in the beginning. Epic win.

  • Laputa is my favorite Miyazaki film. They play the music wonderfully.

  • i have no idea why i cried when watching this

  • Beautiful! I even see he passion in Joe Hisaishi

  • this sounds a lot like a song called Por Una Cabeza, a classical piece by Gardel. im sure that's where hisaishi got his inspiration

  • @dXAriseXb Yes, you are right but no doubt he is still good.

  • @setiamalaysia of course. I love joe hisaishi, he inspired me to get into music, that's why i'm taking orchestra, learning piano and music theory, etc. xD everyone gets inspiration from everywhere, but doesn't mean it's genius. and he is a music genius of our day

  • man i soooo want the sheet music for that trumpet

  • @M0chiMonster haha just sound it out, it's easier than waiting to find someone to do it. plus it's not that hard to figure out the notes because it zooms in on the trumpet player and you can see the fingerings for the notes. idk if it's a Bb trumpet though, it sort of looks like a piccolo trumpet, although im not really that experienced in the different types of trumpets. but you can easily adjust

  • hahahaa i love how the trumpet soloist's eyebrows go up when playing some notes X3

  • dangg..more and more goosebump..i got when i was watching this

  • ooo...goosebumps

  • So that everybody stops wondering, the trumpet soloist is named Timothy Morrison.

  • first guy to do a kamehameha in music....

  • you can tell he didnt just compose the song, he "feels" it.

  • arigato "Fujisawa Mamoru"- thank for your music , Joe Hisaishi ,thanks for your share . his music is a special gift for me .

  • so where can i get a better quality copy of this song? cause the 240p quality is not doing it any justice.

  • 5:52

    beautiful. absolutely beautiful.

  • I love watching Tim Morrison's eyebrows.

  • one of the most magical compositions ever! i could listen to this all around the clock and i wouldn´t get tired of it (believe me-it happened once...i was lazy to search for another song :D)!!!!

  • This is sooooooooooo great! I really love it!

  • That emotional climax at 3:19 is amazing...

  • flawless... absolutely marvelous

  • 4 people are working for Muska...

  • @DBSKz and 1 more person was on Goliath when he shot it down.

  • Comment removed

  • haha Joe looks like he's dancing XD

Can't blame him. The theme is severely cachy =P

  • best trumpet ever

  • does anyone know where you can get the sheet music for this? i can't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

  • @avchris which instrument

  • why does this only have 33,050 views while justin bieber has 380m+.

  • @foxfiremozilla because they have to reload the page to get "a view" so while people listen to his songs once and move on we listen to this over and over and over and over again without ever changing the page because this is beautiful and justin beiber is simply never going to be up to these standards.

  • @foxfiremozilla cuz special videos are watched by limited special ones who are less in number ! he he !

  • @foxfiremozilla because there are more idiots than smart people.

  • @foxfiremozilla Ugh. People like you annoy the shit out of me. I just can't even. Ugh.

  • @kevkevshields Ugh? I'd have to say I can easily answer why Justin Bieber has more views, but I also can easily say it confuses me how its possible.

  • @foxfiremozilla Because those are idiots who like to see nobody's become somebody's, but in reality they're still nobody's acting like their somebody's because they're hanging out with someone who is as equally untalented as they are.

  • @foxfiremozilla Unfortanately, Justin Bieber is far more mainstream than this. However, I like being above all the streams and watching them all. Close you eyes and withdraw a little and then close your eyes again and you get a new perspective, detatched and very... well, away. On the other hand you can also just open your eyes twice and get a much closer perspective, viewing the world as a part of it, not being seperate. I find it helpful to be able to switch out of both views.

  • @foxfiremozilla Because today's general upbringing is to teach children to go up and have sex, be pimps, do drugs or pretend to ignorant of all of the above instead of teaching and opening up imagination and minds of children to the beauty and possibilities that lay on their path and what impacts good and bad, GREAT and HORRIBLE they can make! I love this world and all of the beauty it possesses but I am terrified of the future and what it may hold for generations to come based on your words.

  • @foxfiremozilla Sigh... to each their own I suppose. I have to say though, that the decisions of modern society seem to making a powerful degnerative effect.

  • i like the part at 3:58

  • Does anyone have any idea where to find trumpet sheet music for this?

  • @GrubbyTubby do u want the trumpet song from the movie i dont have sheet music for it but i do know the fingering for it i know it by heart

  • @88hdb woaaah, yes if that's okay with you! thank you :)

  • @GrubbyTubby open, open, open, open, first, open, open, first, open, open, first, first, first, open, first, open, open, open, repeat, then the next part is,open, middle, middle, middle, open, first, open, open, open, open, open, middle, middle, middle, open, first, open, next, firstmiddle, firstmiddle, firstmiddle, first, firstmiddle, first, open, firstmiddle, firstmiddle, first, first, first, firstmiddle, first, open, then just play the beginning part again, im sure you can hear if your playing the right notes

  • This piece always reminds me of my childhood. I thought I'd just look it up whilst returning some e-mails, and was just enjoying it. Then there was that huge crescendo at 5:45 and it just moved me to tears. A beautiful piece of music that really touches me every time I hear it

  • @Vkarkarkar same here, i could not have said it better myself.

  • oh my gosh!!! i love this song, i've been looking everywhere for it! i'm totally bookmarking it!! =D

  • This is win.

  • I want the sheet music... booooo

  • i luv the trumpit section but it it really hard to play

i also love the big finish

  • i luv the trumpit section but it it really hard to play

  • Why would anyone dislike this? It's like someone giving you a million dollars and slapping them in the face.

  • Imagine the great deal of stress being the MAIN trumpeteer in this orchestra :O

One mistake and poof, you're gone lol.

  • holy crap!! Can u imagine being in the audience at 3:15? it would be like laughing gas when you forget about everything around u and just see the moment,, the perfect moment;D. odd comparison i know but i dont have much to compare it with

  • ohhh!

    hes american!!!!

    i thought he was indian....

    lol

  • 4 people forgot how to read, they meant to press the LIKE button not the DISLIKE button. Dummies.

  • This truly captures the playfulness of hayao miyazaki's film. It is deeply enchanting with an uplifting heart wrenching melody that I truly adore. One of the best pieces I have heard in a very long time, I could listen to this over and over again and notice something different every single time. *applause*

  • I ♥ Joe Hisaishi! Amazing song, amazing orchestra (way better then that Hong Kong one), amazing trumpet soloist...but why is he leaning back like that??

  • thank you for sharing this song--i love it..the story represents the meaning of true love is selfless love..the girl she can seeing the one she loves everyday but he never knows how she loves him. i am now facing the different situation..i am in love with a married man who can only spare me with emails..can not see him for long ...hopeless in hell

  • g.g

  • Amazing!!

  • Damn this is beautiful! How many lungs does the guy with the trumpet have :-P it must be like 12 or something...

  • is he playing a C trumpet? ,... yeah i think he's playing a C trumpet

  • @GLkamina121 Yes. It's Tim Morrison, who was also principal trumpet in the President's Own for the longest time.

  • was having a hard time finding the version where it was just patsu playing without the entire orchestra. if anyone can help let me know.

  • @memberjacket I believe the song is called "morning in Slagg's Ravine," and the trumpet diddly is at the end.

  • I wish I could see a concert of Joe Hisaishi just once in my life, it must be so fabulous...

  • Gave me goosebumps O.o

  • and yet, you can never find someone playing it on trumpet, well at least, but only on flute or something. Yes indeed, this is true mastering of a wonderful instrument.

  • I MISS PLAYING THE TRUMPET!!! I would so have fun with this piece. Love this song its a little bit different from most of his other pieces.

  • this there any place this download this song?

  • 2:35 is particularly beautiful. Makes my soul soar every time.

  • now thats perdy...

I love the movie 50% for this music right here...

then theres 50% for good old fashioned animated storytelling and another 50% for some crazy sci-fi backstory.

  • my favorite part is the section with the bassoons and double reeds

  • I have played trumpet since I was eight. This player is really great! I mean, he had flaws of course, but his feeling is totally professional.

Last time I was at a concert of an orchestra from Russia, the second trumpet was making super clear mistakes from the beginning to the end...

  • seems like Pazu got so old, and got bald ==)

  • props to the trumpet guy just wow

  • title of song? please !xD

  • morning in a minig village i think

  • i watched this like 40 times i never got tired of the trumpet section plus the great background orchestra

  • this composer is soo awesome i love his work!

  • So beautiful....I love it....

  • utsukushii!

  • i always loved this movie

i feel like watching it now

  • Haha, and my comment was boo'ed, that's funny.

  • Strings always take second place to the band, no lie.

  • I love this song. I watch it almost every time i'm in youtube :)

  • this is so my mood right now.

  • does anyone know where i can find the music for this? trumpet

  • Yes, right here, and you ears!

You know what it sounds like, so why not get some practice playing by ear? It is very good for you to play by ear once in a while, it helps you know what each tone should sound like.

  • I need the trumpet sheet music too. Did you ever find it?

  • ^o^ near the end, it looks like all the music is coming from the directors mouth.. so vibrant.. wow..

    Kiyote!

  • I think a lead violinist or cello would have been much better and sensitive than a trumpet. It s okay, but it sounds like a western...

  • in the movie, one of the main characters plays the trumpet as a (rooster crow) type of wake up call for the city below his house on the hill.

The trumpet is simply repeating the main stanza of the theme from that scene over and over again.

    Kiyote!

  • Awesome!

  • Trumpet solo rocks!!!
