Again the word "Evidences" in the title and again nothing even coming close... This is just getting pathetic, buddy. You know, I've noticed that the word "Mormon" is very close to the word "Moron". I've often wondered if Joe Smith wasn't a con-man with a sense of humour. He must have asked himself while writing this garbage "I wonder how many morons will actually believe this crap?" The answer is, unfortunately, a lot. The play on the word "moron" was clearly an inside joke on the part of Joe.
In other words, it is beyond your particular intellect to refute anything or deal with any evidences at all.....thanks for showing your utter ineptitude about everything.
@veritasEtjusticia Where is your evidence sir? I'm guessing you're trying to debate here. Well, in order to debate, you have to have some evidence available that the person you are challenging can look at which will help you prove what you are saying. You haven't done that here. So again, where is your evidence sir?
@mattdawg83686 Evidence for.....? That the Book of Mormon is a work of fiction? Well, there's tons of that and of course there is the complete lack of evidence to support the crazy stories in the BOM. There are the anachronisms in the BOM, like horses, wheat, metal, etc. And there is the fact that there is no archeological evidence to support the idea that the civilization described in the BOM ever existed... be specific and I will answer...
@veritasEtjusticia First and foremost, you haven't even read the book. All you done is allow naysayers and narrowminded so-called experts on nothing influence your mind and you haven't even made a choice for yourself to find out. I see you have been well trained by the best the anti movement has to offer. Bullies are bullies, and here they're no different. True Christians don't act like you and others act. God is the ultimate judge no you. Take it up with Him.
@mattdawg83686 Actually, I have read some of the BOM. Look, facts are facts... you can pretend that they don't exist. You can pretend that it's all false infrmation from anti-mormons but you're only just kidding yourself. Any rational person looking at all the facts has to conclude that the BOM is a work of fiction written by a con-man. People who remind you of the facts aren't bullies, they just can stand seeing gulible people being taken in by obvious lies...
@veritasEtjusticia Present to me the facts. Where are you getting your info from? You should be able to point me in that direction at least. You sound just like all the other anti's I've spoken to and they couldn't show me any of their evidence either or who to talk to. You just can't make blanket statements and then not back them up. What facts are you talking about? You should be able to present those to in an objective way. Thank you.
@mattdawg83686 Facts... Let me start by repeating some points I made to the nutty professor: Ten centuries ago a handful of Norse sailors slipped into Newfoundland, established small colonies, traded with local natives, then sailed back into the fog of history. In spite of the small scale of their settlements and the brevity of their stay, unequivocal archaeological evidence of their presence has been found.
@mattdawg83686 However, the Book of Mormon tells us just six centuries earlier a climactic battle between fair-skinned Nephites and dark-skinned Lamanites ended a millennial dominion by a literate, Christian, Bronze Age civilization with a population numbering in the millions. Yet not a single trace of this civilization can be found anywhere.
@mattdawg83686 We can find stone tools, burials, etc of some of the first people to have set foot on this continent but nothing of this great civilization talked about in the Book of Mormon. How can that be possible? It isn't. Also, the Book of Mormon states explicitly that the Lamanites are the principal ancestors of the American Indians. Yet out of the 7,500 Native Americans who have had their DNA tested, 99% show Asian heritage and 0% show Middle Eastern heritage.
@mattdawg83686 Therefore the claim that their “principal” ancestors were immigrants from Israel stands as obviously and unequivocally false. In addition, the BOM mentions horses, elephants, wheat, chariots... None of which existed in the Americas at the time the BOM was set. No independent source of information can be found about these people and events. The only source is one book written by one man. Logically, we have to conclude that the BOM is fiction and Joe Smith is a con-man.
To some, even Shakespeare is junk..... your bias doesn't offend me whatever. I can't please everyone, so it is irrelevant to me what you think personally of me.
I saw an angel of light last night and told me that a load of gold plates were stuck in the mud in my back yard.
Time to form a church............ NO WAIT ! I need to murder 2 people, marry 30 women, cause criminal damage to a printing press, carry a talisman in my pocket, stick my head in a hat, become a mason, oh... and make up a story of a big battle between 2 tribes which no proof has ever existed.
No deleting; good for you. However I can't for the life of me find your evidence compelling. Yet your very energetic and focused attempt does lay a trail to prove something. All-be-it not your treasured BOM. It is undeniable proof that a Biblical strong delusion is real.
You can be delivered. He who has ears to hear; hear this: It's "ALL" about "JESUS". You friend will do very well to be apprehended by and compelled to understand the meaning of: It's "ALL" about "JESUS". I'm happy to say.
@KerryShirts - When it is alleged a phony character in a phony spiritual book said it? Then yes, the author plagiarized the Bible. Again, why would Nephi need to quote Isaiah if Isaiah had already been published?
@KerryShirts - Apparently he did for he gave false a false translation exposing himself as a false prophet.
"I have translated a portion of them, and find they contain the history of the person with whom they were found. He was a descendant of Ham, through the loins of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and that he received his kingdom from the Ruler of heaven and earth." - Joseph Smith, qouted The History of the Church, Volume 5, Chapter 19, page 372
@TheBackyardProfessor So is there evidence of the Existence of Santa Clause and the North Pole? can i use "Merismus" for that as well?Backyard Professor you all are Crazy! You follow behind a false Prophet who created a fictional book and presented it as authentic. I see what Shawn Mccraney and Sandra Tanner mean about you all.
@TheBackyardProfessor i just about something. I was out of line to call you all Crazy so i apologize.....Nevertheless i do find Mormon teachings very wierd
Yes you were way out of line, and I accept the apology. No problem. Teachings of Jesus were so weird to those people they KILLED him, but that didn't mean the teachings were WRONG. Weird is not a good criteria for truth, otherwise Einstein is out as well, yes?
@TheBackyardProfessor Well im talking about Mormon teachings. I heard something of people being cursed with Black skin in 3 Nephi? . Im African American and i find that Racist. I mean come on BYT, that does not offend you?
You ***heard*** something? May I ask if you have actually read the Book of Mormon? Do you have one to read? If not, it would not be a problem for me to send you one so you can find out for yourself what it says. That, honestly, is the very best way to KNOW what it says.....
@TheBackyardProfessor Well i looked at that verse online so i dont need a Book of Mormon. Thats enough within itself. Ive seen other videos with you and i dont percieve you, Dan Peterson or Rommelator being Racist but I do question why you all would be a part of a church and believe in a Book that teaches such.
@TheBackyardProfessor - Interestingly the BoM is a set-up book for people will buy into the other Mormon books of quackery. BTW how do you explain "The Kinderhook Plates" that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that JS was a charlatan and a shyster?
That's one approach, kinda like the Pharisees accusing Jesus of casting out devils by the devil. But no, the reason there are similiarites is because the Nephites and Lamanites originated from Jerusalem and were Jewish in culture. That is reflected in the Book of Mormon. They also possessed some of the Old Testament scripture.
@TheBackyardProfessor - Are you equating the pointing out the falsehoods of Joseph Smith with Jesus and His persecution at the hands of the Pharisees? The idea that the Nephites and Lamanites originated from Jerusalem and were Jewish in culture is merely great fiction. Why? There is absolutely no archeological evidence that these people ever existed. No artifacts, tools, weapons, written records or documents, nor is there any proof from or even consensus among Mormons where these people lived.
You might as well say he plagiarized from the dictionary also, that is why the word "the" is in the Book of Mormon. Such a silly argument you bring up.
@TheBackyardProfessor - Saying he plagiarized from the dictionary is a generalized argument whereas plagiarizing from the Bible is direct and provable. The fact of the matter is that JS stole the narrative from the fictional "View of the Hebrews" and many character names are easily found to be changed spelling of names found 200 miles from Palmyra. How anyone believes this fairy tale is beyond me.
Provable that the Book of Mormon ***plagiarized*** form the BIble? Is that like when Nephi IDENTIFIES Isaiah whom he is quoting? Are you going to honestly pretend to teach us all that by identifying his SOURCE, Nephi plagiarizes? You just go right ahead and make my day with that
@TheBackyardProfessor - Proof that the BOM is plagiarized is the fact that JS quoted Isaiah verbatim and said it was another making the quote. In other words he suggests that Nephi's words were Nephi's and not that of Isaiah elst why would Nephi quote isaiah? BTW have they found any evidence yet at Cumorah yet or have they explained how JS could carry 200lbs of golden plates like he was carrying a sack of potatoes?
@12321highlander We do not have to prove the Book of Mormon is true. The book is its own proof. All we need to do is read it and declare it! The Book of Mormon is not on trial—the people of the world, including the members of the Church, are on trial as to what they will do with this second witness for Christ.(Pres Ezra Taft Benson)
@executioner1230 You can't prove the book of mormon is true because there is no evidence. Just asking god for a witness is it ? . It is a little wonder then why physical evidence or the need for it is treated as evil and contrary to gods will.
@kramd1 I am not saying that there's no need for physical evidence...i know how important that is in the court of law..in fact we have a lot of evidence to present to you..but what for?...are you humble enough to learn them?...Given a chance that you will find out the Book of Mormon is true, will you take the courage to follow its teachings?...
@executioner1230 "we have allot of evidence to present to you" ....Present it then.
I haven't seen any. There are many LDS videos that have the title "evidence" and they present nothing like evidence, just stories and suppositions and would have could have apologies . Does evidence get the back seat in favour of the feel good angels.
Is there just one artefact ? would love to see the sword of Laban, unsheathed or the liahona compass The glow in the dark, touched by the "finger of god" stones
As a member I found people like you to be lost, misled, and anti. As I was asked questions and challenged by a former ward member, I found myself digging for more information that has been hidden from the church or swept under the rug. I would cling onto any scrap of evidence that the FARMS and FAIR people suggested, even the self appointed apologist had me hooked. But when I really thought about it, there was nothing. If there was something it would of been head line news.
@kramd1 ...and if they be shown to you, would they be enough to make you believe and have faith?..Are you going to break your head to show me your brain before i believe you have one?...walk not by sight my friend for it will deceive you...start walking by faith..if you let that all powerful Spirit work in you, you will gain a witness even more than all the evidences the world could ever show you...even more than you ask me to show you.in God's way, signs follow them that believe my friend..
@executioner1230 YOUR COMMENT "Are you going to break your head to show me your brain before i believe you have one" Q. Is this your way of knowing or persuasion ? I don't quite follow your analogy. sounds more like a threat -.- To answer your question:
"If they ( the artefacts ) be shown, would they ( the artefacts) be enough to make you believe and have faith."
Answer . YES of course, Trouble is there are NO artefacts.
An example of some of the new indexing projects are Canadian passenger lists from 1881 to 1922, parish records from Bristol in the United Kingdom from 1837 to 1900 and the 1910 U.S. federal census records for Alaska.
A press release from FamilySearch asked for more volunteers — especially for international, non-English indexing projects. New projects have been recently added for Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Russia. Interested volunteers can start helping any time by registering
Is that the 1966 reference by Tvedtnes concerning Fulbright? He said there were TWO Egyptian names, when in fact one has to add to the names to get a match. It is similar to your laughable contention concerning the 4 jars in the BofA.....by taking parts of other languages and combining them to create the names. LOL
When the far reaching dots don't connect, LDS apologists default to I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know the church is true, and I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God.
There was no adding to those two *genuine* Egyptian names that William F. Albright noted in the Book of Mormon. I have an actual copy of the letter Albright wrote, you are simply ignorant of it. The two names AS ALBRIGHT WROTE THEM are Paanchi (noting the double a) and Pahoran (a genuine name of an Egyptian leader).
Actually, anti-mormons are silly. But they provide something important for us, opposition. Without opposition to the Book of Mormon, the Book of Mormon would just fade into obscurity. Thank you all, anti-mormons, for opposing the Book of Mormon. You are doing something very, very good.
@EltonJ The book of mormon is in opposition to itself. We do not have to do anything. Every time a missionary shows up at someone’s door you can almost guarantee that more opposition against the book of mormon has been created. And to call people 'anti-mormon' as opposed to 'people pointing out the facts' is an absurdity. It’s just another fallacy presented by the church in the hopes that its small percentage of followers will feel persecuted and further alienate the truth.
@EltonJThe Umm, what do you mean? Yes, I have read enough to know that it is nonsense, to say the least. The problem is, when I start reading a book that is completely ridiculous I tend to stop reading. I have read through the history and doctrine and what a joke. I can't believe Rigdon and Cowdery where serious in plagiarizing such nonsense. And if you are asking me if I prayed about it, I did. I had a burning in my bosom and then God told me "Don't be an IDIOT! Just look at the facts"
@uncklepunky Hmm, then you are not ready to learn What You Really Are yet. If you can't accept the Book of Mormon, how can you accept the Bible? And if you can't accept both, then you're not ready.
"And if I find one, will that convince you its all true?"
It's a start
"Your proposition is absolutely silly."
As opposed to your "evidences"? LOL You dodge and run from the question because you can't produce one single legit non LDS source that will substantiate your claims. What card will you play next, personal attacks?
William F. Albright, at his time the world's GREATEST Biblical scholar, agreed with Hugh Nibley that the Book of Mormon contained GENUINE ancient Egyptian names, calling attention to Paanchi and Pahoran. The anti-Mormon Wesley Walters was furious, wrote Albright, and Albright told him they WERE REAL EGYPTIAN NAMES. There's your start.
@12321highlander@12321highlander We do not have to prove the Book of Mormon is true. The book is its own proof. All we need to do is read it and declare it! The Book of Mormon is not on trial—the people of the world, including the members of the Church, are on trial as to what they will do with this second witness for Christ.(Pres Ezra Taft Benson)
And if I find one, will that convince you its all true? Are you going to literally pretend THAT would be proof? That another subjective, non-thinking, perverted, weird, warped human thought and agreed like me? Your proposition is absolutely silly.
Do all supposed professionals agree amongst themselves on all things? Are the professionals the final evidence of proofs and truth? Can you show me where they say this?
Will you convert with an honest heart and embrace Mormonism if I do so? Otherwise, what's the point? And YES, I can show you many non-LDS scholars who HAVE converted. Don't THEY count?
@12321highlander You can't use logic to argue with these people. They are so insecure and brainwashed that they will use the most absurd arguments just so that they don't have to face facts.
Book of Mormon, the Bible, The Tora, the Quran, all books of faith. Believe them or not one must realize that any faith is just that : A leap of faith. It is better to have god on your side than to stand alone in this world. God is great and believing in him will lift your soul and open your heart.
As individuals exercise faith and hope, they are more able to hold fast to the rod and reach out to others, she said.
"All of this — faith, hope and charity — is what brings joy into our lives. It is what gives us the strength to stay on the path, to stay connected to the iron rod. And, the journey back to our Father, back to the Savior, Jesus Christ, becomes joyful."
Sister Lant spoke of ways to strengthen an individual's ability to hold to the rod and continue in faith.
"Faith and hope give us strength. They give us the power and confidence to keep on going — to keep holding on — even when things get hard," She said. "Life is hard, it was meant to be that way so that we would have to rely on the Lord. It was designed to make us strong and determined."
Anyone that reads the book of Mormon for themselves cover to cover will recieve witness of the holy spirit in which converts humans into true christians.
We are well aware of your trolling ways. Don't worry though, D&C 121 The LORD blesses his covenant people when they are persecuted falsely like you are doing here.
"What we've tried to do there is open it up to the community," Elder Swinton says.
In the month leading up to Christmas a variety of musical programs featured groups from throughout the community - including other churches. Regular organ recitals on Fridays and Saturdays also feature musicians from both the LDS Church and other faiths.
Other displays focus on things unique to the LDS Church, such as the Book of Mormon.
During the past year the Swintons have also enjoyed their ecumenical work at the St. George Tabernacle through a variety of programs that reach out to the entire community.
The Backyard Professor shows many correlations of the Book of Mormon and old Testament Jerusalem and the ways of the Law of Moses.
It's a real shame these anti-mormons continue their mantra of "no evidence." In complete denial in the face of truth, and I know the Lord will punish them for their foolishness and devilishness.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I believe the Book or Mormon to be the word of God as far as it is plagiarized correctly. For each so-called evidence you present to its antiquity I can produce a evidence to show it is a product of the 19th century. But..... one real great question, why did they bother to give Joseph Smith the gold plates when according to the scribes that worked with him the plates were seldom even present.? No plates, but those words just continued to flow from that hat and the seer stone. WOW
oh my I luv it I used to be mormon by the way. Mormonism dosn't have a leg to stand on. Through my years through the church I have witnessed many vain actions pride envy all of this.
You are trying so hard to dig up anything that could comfort you that the book of mormon is real. Its sad to know that you feel Jesus puts a price tag on your head. Jesus loves you much more. The fact that he would break up familys that believe in him is heart breaking in more then one heaven.
Not only have a read far more on the subject than you ever are going to be able to do in your lifetime, I have already produced many videos on it. But don't watch them. The fact will confuse your already made up mind.
It really just doesn't make sense to me why God would inspire people to write the Bible, and then a couple thousand years later change everything by having one man write a book. God is never changing, so why would he do this?
Um........ you misunderstand something somewhere. It has always been one man at a time writing and contributing to the record, in both cases, the Bible and Book of Mormon. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you mean? Could you clarify? Thanks man.
The Bible was written by many people, and gives us instructions on how we should live our lives. Then one man comes and writes a book and changes everything, and in the book he wrote there are things against the Bible. This shows that the Book of Mormon was not inspired by God.
You obviously have no comprehension about what the Book of Mormon teaches do you. The Book of Mormon is a 2nd witness *TO* Jesus Christ, the Eternal God of Heaven and Earth. But you probably wouldn't know that, obviously not having understood what it teaches. Interestingly, it's written in words of exceeding plainness. That's not a good mark for your comprehension abilities.
How could we be sure that this was from God. No where in the Bible does he tell us that he will give us another book. And if God did want someone to write another book, he would not wait that long to have it written.
ANd somehow now you know that God is contrained by time as we are?! HOWLING LAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now you know all about what God would do and when.......riiiiiiight, got it.
Wow, what a bad assertion. Polemic contrasts *MUST* mean that it's of ancient Hebrew origin? Ever tried to contrast off of 1 pole and a middleground? Black & grey, free & somewhat free, male and hermaphrodite, old and middle-aged, dead and somewhat dead....it just doesn't make any sense. The only thing u did was tie a technically-important-sounding word up with a bow and thought u had a trump card 2 prove theBOM is true. RU4real? Bad apologetics hurt more mbrs than it helps.
There is a lot of materials to cover yet also. Ayiyi..... but I enjoy doing these vids. I sort of rotate around subjects. Right now its evolution and Mormonism, then off to something else. So much to learn, so little time - LOL!
I would say, as Nephi does, to follow *all* of God's words, to *all* His people's he reveals truth to, which is, quite literally, to *all* his children! Why murmer against God if He gives his words to others besides the Jews?
TBYP says @ 8:21: "refutes the naive arguement that..." are you calling several prominent anthropologists/archeologists "NAIVE" my dear fellow? Michael D. Coe, Yale David Glenn Smith, UC Davis Dennis O'Rourke, U of Utah Stephen L. Whittington, U of Maine Simon Southern, biologist Randall Shortridge, U of Buffalo Trent Stephens, Idaho State U Thomas Murphy, anthropologist to name a few & your sources are? credentials please
could it be that there are not enough rich mormons to pay for a new BoM wing there? come on, pay up!!!
pull out all your BoM relics from your closets & donate them to the SI. Don't be greedy, your country deserves to have all that "proof" displayed in all its regalia
BYU cranks out BoM archeologists every year, get digging, fill those museums now. Oh & can you build one near LA's Getty, ok? i want to visit
So would I! LOL! Funny how when some use humor, others take it sooooooo seriously in order to make a problem where none need exist. I have never thought he was being serious. Even if he was, I have my doubts. And no, lets not stupidly pretend it is some sort of prophecy.......
And what evidence do you have, BYP, that Joeseph S. was employing humor or at least baiting his detractors? Brigham Yourn must have thought it humerous too, given he paraphrased Joe's words on the moon/sun-dwellers. It WOULD make a huge diff. if Joe WAS trying to be funny. No one would EVER take BY as a stand-up comedian, however.
Could it be possible that Shakespeare had in mind "chiasmus" or "merismus" of the BoM in mind when he wrote that verse regarding "fair ornament? NAW!!! Too much of a stretch...
Yes I do understand that Shakespeare pre-dated Joseph Smith by a couple hundred years. But really, if Joseph could see into thye future as he did and prophecy that the Second Coming would be in 1886, then surely the intuitive mind of Shakespeare could do it too!...OH!! WAIT!! The Second Coming didn't come to pass in 1886 as prophesied, did it...?
In what way is "merisus" or "chiasmus" in the BoM a "realistic" proof the book is what Moism claims it to be?
If anybody can add those two styles to their literature, at will, seems a pretty shakey basis for evidencing the BoM. But, I guess in your (LDS) situation (straw grasping), ya gotta go with what ya got, eh?
Well, the Mormons are TRYING to deliver the "cheese"--but nobody's buying...too CHEESY!
I haven't gone anywhere, omiolo. Thanks for asking, tho! Where did I ever say "Mormons are evil"?? I have NEVER said that and never would. Now, MormonISM?--that's another story.
Glad you like the sarcasm, my friend. Sarcasm, I've heard, is the lowest form of humor. However in these type LDS threads, it's very appropriate. CYA! :)
"Glad you like the sarcasm, my friend. Sarcasm, I've heard, is the lowest form of humor. However in these type LDS threads, it's very appropriate. CYA! :) "
I figure we will NEVER agree, but at least let us have fun doing it. Venom serves no one.
We know that as recently as 1835, the Native American Indians were all still the "literal descendants of Abraham".
We know this because that was the year when the Angel Moroni revealed this basic truth to Joseph Smith in a vision.
This means that all your carefully crafted genetic excuses like bottleneck, dilution, founder effect etc must have worked their magic sometime during the last 173 years.
How else could all the aboriginal American peoples now have ancient Asian ancestry?
The classic example is found in Isaiah 3:18—23, and repeated in 2 Nephi 13:18—23, in which Isaiah notes the ways that the "daughters of Zion" act in provocative ways, especially in their dress.51 These are not merely lists of words but take on special meaning because they form an ensemble that exhibits a unity and purpose. Watson noted that a selective listing is another form of merismus
What I call literary lists (Watson calls them "tours") are words or phrases presented in a kind of enumeration that has a poetic or literary style.49 Such lists are usually classified as "synonymia" by Donald W. Parry.50
How is it that because Smith chose to incorporate Merismus in the BOM that then it is considered EVIDENCE for the BOM? You're basically saying the BOM is true because the BOM says so. Smith adopted KJV language for the language of BOM which explains use of Merismus. However it also proves that the BOM is false because there is no reason the BOM would be fashioned with a KJV language that Smith did not use AND neither did Native Americans. KJV was way before Smith and way after Native Americans.
The anti LDS/Mormon stance is that Smith wrote and invented the BOM and not divinely translated ancient text. So it makes sense that merismus is used because merismus was a familiar tool used at the time the BOM was written. You guys are claiming that because the Bible used merismus and the BOM has it as well it is somehow verification that the BOM is not only ancient but divinely connected to the Bible.
So yes you ARE basically saying that the BOM is true because the BOM says it is. Your evidence that the BOM is true DERIVES from the BOM and can have very likely been incorporated BY the author, so the BOM (or the author of the BOM) cannot be proof of itself. I cannot write a fictional text and use themes such as merismus then claim it is true and ancient because See for yourself merismus was used so it HAS to be true.
I know you have a history of not reading everything in the comments. I will not re explain it I will just refer you to my previous explanation. Oh and so far I have not gotten a response from you regarding my comments on the "Realistic Book of Mormon Evidences: Swords". I took your advice and have come back to you with the info yet you dont respond.
I have a history of not wasting my time with people who don't wish to engage in exchange of information, but would rather mock about what they do't know about.
I have been mocked by both you and osmosis. I have attempted information exchange yet you both ignore it. Sure at first you try to respond with distractions and evasions. But then eventually you guys simply dont respond. I have even been instructed by BOTH of you to go do research in variouse places and when I DO and come back with the info you guys just dont respond.
Um... because I don't respond to you in a specific length of time does not all the sudden prove everything you say is correct, and nothing we say is correct. Please calm your astoinsihing overinflated value down a bit k?
I directed my comments to osmosis in your video on Swords. However I would be glad if you commented on them and explained your opinion. You would be happy to know I made sure that the prophesies I am talking about were read in context and in their entirety. I EVEN went to as many Mormon/LDS sites I could find that try to explain the various failed prophesies. I tried to give you guys the benefit of the doubt and do my best to not overlook any evidence that anti Mormons would normally cover up.
Do you consider doing all that being actions of one who does not wish to engage in information exchange? I honestly want to you to give your comments on them. Please dont ignore them. Otherwise it just seems it is you that is not interested in information exchange as you are the only one refusing to exchange information.
If you are going to try to be clever you may want to say it right. It goes "Merismus does NOT a divine translation make". If you take the word "make" and place it after the word "NOT" it has to make sense.
You basically said "Merismus does NOT make a divinely translated". It could have worked if you had the word "document" or "text" after "translated". "Merismus does NOT a divinely translated TEXT make".
You can see how it is grammatically correct when the word "make" is moved as mentioned before. Also I never mentioned divine TRANSLATION. I said "divine connection". Meaning that you guys place significance on Merismus because it was used in both the Bible and the BOM though in two different regions, suggesting that they therefore must both be from God.
However if the person committing fraud when making the BOM has knowledge of themes such as Merismus because he lives in a time much later than the creation of the Bible it is not as amazing or divine. SMITH is the connection to them both having Merismus NOT God thus making this evidence extremely insignificant.
I guess I find myself board because you STILL do not respond to the comments of Smiths False prophesies. So I had to find something to talk about. So why is it you refuse to respond to the evidence of the false prophesies? If you have no explanation for them then it is not better to hide from the truth but accept it and change. I would imagine a person who deliberately avoids truth to continue believing what they want must deep down feel pretty guilty.
NO I base my information that you are not responding to certain comments when you DO make various replies to me in other vids or you respond to comments here but not addressing the question. This shows that you are not tied up with no time to respond. If you had not said anything to me at all I usually wait about a week before asking why no reply. Also I DID ask quite a while ago and you brushed them off and did not give any legitimate response. THAT is why I assume you have no answer.
I wonder if Merismus, is a quality of the possible duality of all things. Like Enoch seeing his glorified self, we express both ourselves, and perhaps our yet premortal selves who remains to an extent in God's presence, who would express things in God's universal way. If those who are writing the word of God are indeed inspired, it would reflect His all encompassing nature.
On a side note Henry Eyring, who was an excellent scientist in his own right, was I believe at some point a branch president where Einstein resided in the US. Don't know if that validates Eyring or not, lol. Not that he needs it.
The only thing sadder than an anti having his facts half ass backwards, are LDS ametuer apologists who post on you tube defending the church with thrir own opinions. Please, all you LDS members, investigate your facts, and let the pros like the BYP field the assertions and questions non mormons have.
You do more harm than good when you perpetuate falacies and half truths that alot of members pawn off as hard facts. Your testimony will not grow one iota, by bible bashing on you tube. In fact you open the door for Satan to seed doubts. Save it for Priesthood, or gospel doctrine class.
Whoa......... I don't think I am a professional at all. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic amateur, but not a pro. I think questions are good, but sometimes, unfortunately, it takes a lot longer time and effort to give answers and demonstrate why those answers are the best we can do at any given time until more revelation comes out.

veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
Again the word "Evidences" in the title and again nothing even coming close... This is just getting pathetic, buddy. You know, I've noticed that the word "Mormon" is very close to the word "Moron". I've often wondered if Joe Smith wasn't a con-man with a sense of humour. He must have asked himself while writing this garbage "I wonder how many morons will actually believe this crap?" The answer is, unfortunately, a lot. The play on the word "moron" was clearly an inside joke on the part of Joe.

@veritasEtjusticia
In other words, it is beyond your particular intellect to refute anything or deal with any evidences at all.....thanks for showing your utter ineptitude about everything.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 months ago
@veritasEtjusticia Where is your evidence sir? I'm guessing you're trying to debate here. Well, in order to debate, you have to have some evidence available that the person you are challenging can look at which will help you prove what you are saying. You haven't done that here. So again, where is your evidence sir?
mattdawg83686 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 Evidence for.....? That the Book of Mormon is a work of fiction? Well, there's tons of that and of course there is the complete lack of evidence to support the crazy stories in the BOM. There are the anachronisms in the BOM, like horses, wheat, metal, etc. And there is the fact that there is no archeological evidence to support the idea that the civilization described in the BOM ever existed... be specific and I will answer...
veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
@veritasEtjusticia First and foremost, you haven't even read the book. All you done is allow naysayers and narrowminded so-called experts on nothing influence your mind and you haven't even made a choice for yourself to find out. I see you have been well trained by the best the anti movement has to offer. Bullies are bullies, and here they're no different. True Christians don't act like you and others act. God is the ultimate judge no you. Take it up with Him.
mattdawg83686 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 Actually, I have read some of the BOM. Look, facts are facts... you can pretend that they don't exist. You can pretend that it's all false infrmation from anti-mormons but you're only just kidding yourself. Any rational person looking at all the facts has to conclude that the BOM is a work of fiction written by a con-man. People who remind you of the facts aren't bullies, they just can stand seeing gulible people being taken in by obvious lies...
veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
@veritasEtjusticia Present to me the facts. Where are you getting your info from? You should be able to point me in that direction at least. You sound just like all the other anti's I've spoken to and they couldn't show me any of their evidence either or who to talk to. You just can't make blanket statements and then not back them up. What facts are you talking about? You should be able to present those to in an objective way. Thank you.
mattdawg83686 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 Facts... Let me start by repeating some points I made to the nutty professor: Ten centuries ago a handful of Norse sailors slipped into Newfoundland, established small colonies, traded with local natives, then sailed back into the fog of history. In spite of the small scale of their settlements and the brevity of their stay, unequivocal archaeological evidence of their presence has been found.
veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 However, the Book of Mormon tells us just six centuries earlier a climactic battle between fair-skinned Nephites and dark-skinned Lamanites ended a millennial dominion by a literate, Christian, Bronze Age civilization with a population numbering in the millions. Yet not a single trace of this civilization can be found anywhere.
veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 We can find stone tools, burials, etc of some of the first people to have set foot on this continent but nothing of this great civilization talked about in the Book of Mormon. How can that be possible? It isn't. Also, the Book of Mormon states explicitly that the Lamanites are the principal ancestors of the American Indians. Yet out of the 7,500 Native Americans who have had their DNA tested, 99% show Asian heritage and 0% show Middle Eastern heritage.
veritasEtjusticia 3 months ago
@mattdawg83686 Therefore the claim that their “principal” ancestors were immigrants from Israel stands as obviously and unequivocally false. In addition, the BOM mentions horses, elephants, wheat, chariots... None of which existed in the Americas at the time the BOM was set. No independent source of information can be found about these people and events. The only source is one book written by one man. Logically, we have to conclude that the BOM is fiction and Joe Smith is a con-man.

TheBackyardProfessor 11 months ago
@TheBackyardProfessor Well i looked at that verse online so i dont need a Book of Mormon. Thats enough within itself. Ive seen other videos with you and i dont percieve you, Dan Peterson or Rommelator being Racist but I do question why you all would be a part of a church and believe in a Book that teaches such.
breezwonder 11 months ago
@TheBackyardProfessor - Interestingly the BoM is a set-up book for people will buy into the other Mormon books of quackery. BTW how do you explain "The Kinderhook Plates" that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that JS was a charlatan and a shyster?
YouAreIsrael 11 months ago
The reason you're finding the literary style you found in the BoM is because JS plagiarized the Bible.
YouAreIsrael 1 year ago
@YouAreIsrael
TheBackyardProfessor 1 year ago
@TheBackyardProfessor - Are you equating the pointing out the falsehoods of Joseph Smith with Jesus and His persecution at the hands of the Pharisees? The idea that the Nephites and Lamanites originated from Jerusalem and were Jewish in culture is merely great fiction. Why? There is absolutely no archeological evidence that these people ever existed. No artifacts, tools, weapons, written records or documents, nor is there any proof from or even consensus among Mormons where these people lived.
YouAreIsrael 1 year ago
@YouAreIsrael
You might as well say he plagiarized from the dictionary also, that is why the word "the" is in the Book of Mormon. Such a silly argument you bring up.
TheBackyardProfessor 11 months ago
@TheBackyardProfessor - Saying he plagiarized from the dictionary is a generalized argument whereas plagiarizing from the Bible is direct and provable. The fact of the matter is that JS stole the narrative from the fictional "View of the Hebrews" and many character names are easily found to be changed spelling of names found 200 miles from Palmyra. How anyone believes this fairy tale is beyond me.
YouAreIsrael 11 months ago
@YouAreIsrael
Provable that the Book of Mormon ***plagiarized*** form the BIble? Is that like when Nephi IDENTIFIES Isaiah whom he is quoting? Are you going to honestly pretend to teach us all that by identifying his SOURCE, Nephi plagiarizes? You just go right ahead and make my day with that
TheBackyardProfessor 11 months ago
@TheBackyardProfessor - Proof that the BOM is plagiarized is the fact that JS quoted Isaiah verbatim and said it was another making the quote. In other words he suggests that Nephi's words were Nephi's and not that of Isaiah elst why would Nephi quote isaiah? BTW have they found any evidence yet at Cumorah yet or have they explained how JS could carry 200lbs of golden plates like he was carrying a sack of potatoes?

There was no adding to those two *genuine* Egyptian names that William F. Albright noted in the Book of Mormon. I have an actual copy of the letter Albright wrote, you are simply ignorant of it. Actually, anti-mormons are silly. But they provide something important for us, opposition. Without opposition to the Book of Mormon, the Book of Mormon would just fade into obscurity. Thank you all, anti-mormons, for opposing the Book of Mormon. You are doing something very, very good.
EltonJThe 1 year ago
@EltonJ The book of mormon is in opposition to itself. We do not have to do anything. Every time a missionary shows up at someone’s door you can almost guarantee that more opposition against the book of mormon has been created. And to call people 'anti-mormon' as opposed to 'people pointing out the facts' is an absurdity. It’s just another fallacy presented by the church in the hopes that its small percentage of followers will feel persecuted and further alienate the truth.

Um........ you misunderstand something somewhere. It has always been one man at a time writing and contributing to the record, in both cases, the Bible and Book of Mormon. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you mean? Could you clarify? Thanks man.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
The Bible was written by many people, and gives us instructions on how we should live our lives. Then one man comes and writes a book and changes everything, and in the book he wrote there are things against the Bible. This shows that the Book of Mormon was not inspired by God.
thebenjohnson 3 years ago
You obviously have no comprehension about what the Book of Mormon teaches do you. The Book of Mormon is a 2nd witness *TO* Jesus Christ, the Eternal God of Heaven and Earth. But you probably wouldn't know that, obviously not having understood what it teaches. Interestingly, it's written in words of exceeding plainness. That's not a good mark for your comprehension abilities.

So much to learn, so little time - LOL!

there is no evidence for the book of mormon. there is a lot of evidence against it. that's why this video is gibberish.
struer22 3 years ago
Mere assertion. There is enormous evidence for the Book of Mormon.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
How does this information confirm that the Book of Mormon is really the true path to Heaven?
thebenjohnson 3 years ago
It doesn't. The Book of Mormon is not the true path to heaven, Christ is, as it so properly teaches.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
So what exactly is the true path to heaven?
thebenjohnson 3 years ago
read the book of mormon for yourself. it is the word of God.
GodLovedJosephSmith 3 years ago
So are you saying that I should totally disregard the Bible?
thebenjohnson 3 years ago
No one around here has ever proposed you totaly disregard the Bible. That is an extreme I personally would never advocate.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
Then should we not follow what the Bible tells us to do, instead of following something else that better suits out wants.
thebenjohnson 3 years ago
I would say, as Nephi does, to follow *all* of God's words, to *all* His people's he reveals truth to, which is, quite literally, to *all* his children! Why murmer against God if He gives his words to others besides the Jews?

could it be that there are not enough rich mormons to pay for a new BoM wing there? come on, pay up!!!
pull out all your BoM relics from your closets & donate them to the SI. Don't be greedy, your country deserves to have all that "proof" displayed in all its regalia

So would I! LOL! Funny how when some use humor, others take it sooooooo seriously in order to make a problem where none need exist. I have never thought he was being serious. Even if he was, I have my doubts. And no, lets not stupidly pretend it is some sort of prophecy.......
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
And what evidence do you have, BYP, that Joeseph S. was employing humor or at least baiting his detractors? Brigham Yourn must have thought it humerous too, given he paraphrased Joe's words on the moon/sun-dwellers. It WOULD make a huge diff. if Joe WAS trying to be funny. No one would EVER take BY as a stand-up comedian, however.

I'm reminded, too, of a Voltaire quote that applies, "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."
OH! And since Shakespeare was discussed earlier, here is his contribution, ON TOPIC.
"In religion, what damned error, but some sober brow will bless it and approve it with a text, hiding the grossness with fair ornament?
Merchant of Venice, III:2
(PS. "Humorous" not "humerous". Sorry. Must be my LDS keyboard. LOL!)
1MoNoMo 3 years ago
Could it be possible that Shakespeare had in mind "chiasmus" or "merismus" of the BoM in mind when he wrote that verse regarding "fair ornament? NAW!!! Too much of a stretch...
1MoNoMo 3 years ago
Yes I do understand that Shakespeare pre-dated Joseph Smith by a couple hundred years. But really, if Joseph could see into thye future as he did and prophecy that the Second Coming would be in 1886, then surely the intuitive mind of Shakespeare could do it too!...OH!! WAIT!! The Second Coming didn't come to pass in 1886 as prophesied, did it...?
Now I'm just being silly---AGAIN!
1MoNoMo 3 years ago
BYP.
THE operative word in your title is "REALISTIC".
1MoNoMo 3 years ago
"I'm reminded, too, of a Voltaire quote that applies, "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.""

CYA! :)

How else could all the aboriginal American peoples now have ancient Asian ancestry?
truthferrret 3 years ago 11
The classic example is found in Isaiah 3:18—23, and repeated in 2 Nephi 13:18—23, in which Isaiah notes the ways that the "daughters of Zion" act in provocative ways, especially in their dress.51 These are not merely lists of words but take on special meaning because they form an ensemble that exhibits a unity and purpose. Watson noted that a selective listing is another form of merismus
osmiolos 3 years ago
What I call literary lists (Watson calls them "tours") are words or phrases presented in a kind of enumeration that has a poetic or literary style.49 Such lists are usually classified as "synonymia" by Donald W. Parry.50
osmiolos 3 years ago
How is it that because Smith chose to incorporate Merismus in the BOM that then it is considered EVIDENCE for the BOM? You're basically saying the BOM is true because the BOM says so. Smith adopted KJV language for the language of BOM which explains use of Merismus. However it also proves that the BOM is false because there is no reason the BOM would be fashioned with a KJV language that Smith did not use AND neither did Native Americans. KJV was way before Smith and way after Native Americans.
Chipwhitley274 3 years ago
"You're basically saying the BOM is true because the BOM says so."
NO,
we are saying the BOM could be true because it uses Merismus like it should.
osmiolos 3 years ago
The anti LDS/Mormon stance is that Smith wrote and invented the BOM and not divinely translated ancient text. So it makes sense that merismus is used because merismus was a familiar tool used at the time the BOM was written. You guys are claiming that because the Bible used merismus and the BOM has it as well it is somehow verification that the BOM is not only ancient but divinely connected to the Bible.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago 2
So yes you ARE basically saying that the BOM is true because the BOM says it is. Your evidence that the BOM is true DERIVES from the BOM and can have very likely been incorporated BY the author, so the BOM (or the author of the BOM) cannot be proof of itself. I cannot write a fictional text and use themes such as merismus then claim it is true and ancient because See for yourself merismus was used so it HAS to be true.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
"So yes you ARE basically saying that the BOM is true because the BOM says it is."
how do you JUMP to that conclusion?

I know you have a history of not reading everything in the comments. I will not re explain it I will just refer you to my previous explanation. Oh and so far I have not gotten a response from you regarding my comments on the "Realistic Book of Mormon Evidences: Swords". I took your advice and have come back to you with the info yet you dont respond.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
I have a history of not wasting my time with people who don't wish to engage in exchange of information, but would rather mock about what they do't know about.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
I have been mocked by both you and osmosis. I have attempted information exchange yet you both ignore it. Sure at first you try to respond with distractions and evasions. But then eventually you guys simply dont respond. I have even been instructed by BOTH of you to go do research in variouse places and when I DO and come back with the info you guys just dont respond.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
Um... because I don't respond to you in a specific length of time does not all the sudden prove everything you say is correct, and nothing we say is correct. Please calm your astoinsihing overinflated value down a bit k?
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
I directed my comments to osmosis in your video on Swords. However I would be glad if you commented on them and explained your opinion. You would be happy to know I made sure that the prophesies I am talking about were read in context and in their entirety. I EVEN went to as many Mormon/LDS sites I could find that try to explain the various failed prophesies. I tried to give you guys the benefit of the doubt and do my best to not overlook any evidence that anti Mormons would normally cover up.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
Do you consider doing all that being actions of one who does not wish to engage in information exchange? I honestly want to you to give your comments on them. Please dont ignore them. Otherwise it just seems it is you that is not interested in information exchange as you are the only one refusing to exchange information.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
" that the BOM is not only ancient but divinely connected to the Bible"
Merismus does NOT a divinely translated make. Nevertheless, such a book would need to have them, leading credence to the belief and understanding!
osmiolos 3 years ago
If you are going to try to be clever you may want to say it right. It goes "Merismus does NOT a divine translation make". If you take the word "make" and place it after the word "NOT" it has to make sense.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
You basically said "Merismus does NOT make a divinely translated". It could have worked if you had the word "document" or "text" after "translated". "Merismus does NOT a divinely translated TEXT make".
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
You can see how it is grammatically correct when the word "make" is moved as mentioned before. Also I never mentioned divine TRANSLATION. I said "divine connection". Meaning that you guys place significance on Merismus because it was used in both the Bible and the BOM though in two different regions, suggesting that they therefore must both be from God.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago
However if the person committing fraud when making the BOM has knowledge of themes such as Merismus because he lives in a time much later than the creation of the Bible it is not as amazing or divine. SMITH is the connection to them both having Merismus NOT God thus making this evidence extremely insignificant.

nope, I wanted you to reply multiple times to it!
osmiolos 3 years ago
I guess I find myself board because you STILL do not respond to the comments of Smiths False prophesies. So I had to find something to talk about. So why is it you refuse to respond to the evidence of the false prophesies? If you have no explanation for them then it is not better to hide from the truth but accept it and change. I would imagine a person who deliberately avoids truth to continue believing what they want must deep down feel pretty guilty.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago 2
That's because that is not the subject of this video.
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
You are assuming that if I don't respond to you this proves the prophecies of Joseph Smith are false?
TheBackyardProfessor 3 years ago
NO I base my information that you are not responding to certain comments when you DO make various replies to me in other vids or you respond to comments here but not addressing the question. This shows that you are not tied up with no time to respond. If you had not said anything to me at all I usually wait about a week before asking why no reply. Also I DID ask quite a while ago and you brushed them off and did not give any legitimate response. THAT is why I assume you have no answer.
Chipwhitley740 3 years ago

Please, all you LDS members, investigate your facts, and let the pros like the BYP field the assertions and questions non mormons have.
canadianbacon007 3 years ago
You do more harm than good when you perpetuate falacies and half truths that alot of members pawn off as hard facts. Your testimony will not grow one iota, by bible bashing on you tube. In fact you open the door for Satan to seed doubts. Save it for Priesthood, or gospel doctrine class.
canadianbacon007 3 years ago
Whoa......... I don't think I am a professional at all. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic amateur, but not a pro. I think questions are good, but sometimes, unfortunately, it takes a lot longer time and effort to give answers and demonstrate why those answers are the best we can do at any given time until more revelation comes out.
