  • only a matter of time now for Tampa to win another cup.with #19 on the bridge!!!!

  • stevie is one of the very few elite!!!

  • Thumbs Up if you think Steve Yzerman is a fucking bad ass!

  • Wickedcoldclown really does it justice! Tributes one and two are really great in my opinion! This dude should make tributes of everyone!

  • Ahhh Stevie Y.

  • Much respect.. Greatest all around player IMO... Think about the the stats he could have put up if he didn't check his ego and start playing a team game.. Class through and through...

  • Steve, I miss you! ='(

  • a goddamn mazing

  • Probably because the music is terrible. Video is awesome though.

  • by far one of my favorite youtube videos ever.. how this doesn't have way more views is beyond me

  • V more like the history of hockey

  • Yzerman by far is the greatest captain of all time in the history of the redwings

  • And hockey.

  • Not just the Red Wings. Best ever in the NHL. Class act all the way around.

  • As much as I like Nick Lindsterom, we all know that Stevie Y is the greatest.

  • Lidstrom is great. He learned alot from Stevie Y. His jersey will be the next retired. Then Zetterberg will be the next captain, but we have a few more yrs of Lids.

  • I think Lidas is going downhill, but that's pretty obvious, he's getting old. I think he has 2 more years, then he's gone. Will be great to see his jersey up with the other big boys!

  • This is Lidstroms' last yr on his contract. He'll re-sign cheap for 2-3 yrs. He knows it about the younger guys now. Same when Yzerman retired. Yzerman was drafted when I was 6 and I am honestly proud to say I watched whole NHL career. Same with Lids.

Me and my wife have a 10 month old son and if there's any hockey players i'd love him to look up to it's Lids and Yzerman. He will know exactly who they are and that they were 2 of the greatest to lace up a pair of skates.

  • That sounds wonderful! :)

  • you know, it sucks players like this have to get too old and have to retire. I always loved watching him play. this is a great video good job.

  • Yeah.. Steve Wonder was one of the greatests, and most respected hockey players of all time. Everytime he'd score a goal he'd go see his teamates, he wouldnt just skate away like Ovechkin does.. :P

  • This man was the true great one.

Thank you for all the memories stevie.

    This is a true captain.

  • It`s frakin cool to see another Yzerman fan with a tribute video, there is only one STEVE YZERMAN!

  • I'd take Yzerman over Gretzky any day

  • me too bro

  • Dumb

  • Detroit Red Wings 1991-present > Edmonton Oilers 1980's

  • Actually I've lived here all my life and hockey is as big as ever. In terms of the attendance at the Joe, I hate to use the cliche "economy" excuse, but in my personal situation, the ticket prices are the reason why I don't go to as many games as I'd like to. And in terms of fan base, I'm not saying that Detroit fans are any better than Edmonton fans, but in terms of American cities, Detroit has the best hockey fan base bar none.

  • No it isn't. The last 4 years the Pistons have out drawn the Wings. The Wings are an incredibly successful team but they don't play a tough, North American brand of hockey that the Detroit/Windsor area have had the pleasure of experiencing in the past. For the first time in their history they had offer discount packages to fill up the Joe. After coming off of a Cup win that is hardly a ringing endorsement of their place in the community.

  • Additionally, I've gone to about 50 or so games in the last two years and the atmosphere stinks compared to what it use to be. It feels like a freak'n morgue or a library at exam time. No, somethings wrong with hockey in Detroit but few have the balls to say they aren't enjoying it like they use to. Detroit is supposed to be Hockeytown; we don't compare ourselves to the rest of the US. We are set the standard. Well, ticket sales, discounts, and the general apathy speak louder than words.

  • Well first of all, I wouldn't say that the ticket sales is indicative of a city's love for a sport. Furthermore, as a city that sets the standard, it's important to gauge ourselves once in a while by comparing ourselves to other cities. With that said, the decline of the popularity of hockey has been occurring throughout the States thanks in no small part to Mr. Bettman.

  • There is a direct, linear relationship between ticket/merchandise sales and the connection with the community; marketing research proves it. Great markets like Boston and Chicago said that the Canadian standard was too rigorous to try to achieve in the US and then chose to compare themselves to the Carolinas and Atlantas of the world. Look where that got them; they are just emerging from their self-imposed slumber now. Blaming Gary is too covenant and easy; it's the losers way out.

  • You do realize the joe is smaller than the palace right? Of course the pistons out draw the wings...besides the fact youre comparing sports with different popularity as well. Nice try at a point.

  • i live near detriot and i know the wings are big as ever whenever there is a game everyone at my school as there fav players jersey on or just a wings shirt and i belive the wings are 3rd in selling the most tickets.

  • I wish he still played! And the goal at 4:00 is so sweet.

  • Awesome goal at 2:22, I believe it was his 400th.

  • My top 5 goals in this vid:

    5. A little outside inside move that catches the Flyers D-man in a crossover allowing Stevie to walk in (3:11).

    4. Stops on a dime, Blake goes flying by, and Stevie wrists one past Stauber (3:24).

    3. He cuts in, causes some Flyers to run into each other before deking the goalie (4:03).

    2. He treats the Blackhawks like pylons and roofs it over Panger (2:41).

    1. He's in mid-air with his feet pointed towards the net, and wrists it over Barrasso's shoulder (2:20).

  • Man, I've watched this video about 20 times over the past year or so and it never gets old. Great work putting it all together. It's by far the best Yzerman compilation on Youtube.

  • You know, you can masterbate to other things too, eh.

  • nhl needs another steve yzerman to save the nhl

nhl needs a classy hugely talented player who is american

  • Yzerman is a Canuck, he was born in British Columbia. Get your facts right.. not a yank by any stretch of the imagination.

  • This is a tribute to a man, not a country.

  • I HATE how everyone compares Sidney Crosby to Stevie. There's NO WAY in HELL Crosby will ever be even half the player that Yzerman was.

  • clip from 2:38 made everyone else look like pylons.

  • Denis Savard was better. Come to think of it, so was Larmer.

  • classy guy, u dont see stevie being a douche bag like ovechkin when he scores

  • haha good song , i wish i could be like that ( as in yzerman)

  • just look at this Guy's skating and stickhandling and watch how many of his shots hit the top of the net just behind the Cross bar

People remember him for his Defense and Leadership but Yzerman was a true Sniper and Dangler

  • Remember, most of those goas were scored in the era before goalie training made the backstops a real challenge. I mean come on. How many of those goals were scored against Greg Millan?

  • i DEFY you to watch his retirement night and not start to tear up...he was such an amazing player, maybe not the most skill, but his work ethic and leadership cant be matched and will most likely never be.

  • The move at the 23 second mark is SICK!

  • Great Video...your videos finally start doing justice toStevie Y... he doesnt get near enough credit for all he did...he was the greastest player ive ever seen, not because of his numbers but his leadership....

  • such a great video, hes been my idol my whole life i wore 19 my whole life hockey and baseball. I was born in 85 many young kids dont remember mr. yzerman being a goal scorer, but i do, this video means a lot to me, thanks for psoting it

  • what a player i sad that he hang it up but im happy he is still vice

  • nicely done and a wonderful player!

  • Stevie Y Thanks for the memories,I'm gonna miss you & so will the people who grew up & watched play all these years.

    Detroit Red Wings 4 Life

    Go Wings Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice video one again yzerman... your missed =(

  • Some of these clips were taken from an old music video montage from Channel 50 way back in the day to the tune "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits. I used to have it on VHS and most of the highlights from that vid are in this video.

  • we gonna miss u stevie y

  • great job on the video.. finally a video that has early highlights of yzerman.

  • like i said before on the other video..the best hockey player to ever put on the letter "C". a true legend and a hero. thanks for all the great years and memories.

  • Steve Yzerman : The best there was , the best there is and the best there ever will be !!!

  • You should throw some of his highlights from Team Canada in there for your next one, he scored some nice goals playing for Canada...;)

  • steve yzerman was simply the best, no question. he had so many amazing players by his side. only yzerman deserves to be called "THE" capitain. they should retire his jersey not only from the team, but from the league.

  • the best ever

  • What I think venzetti8 mean't when he said that Yzerman didn't have the players with him, was when he was putting up big points early in his career when Detroit was a terrible team and he was playing with scrubs. Certainly the later Detroit teams were some of the best ever, but that was after he had changed his game to a more defensive one and saw his point totals drop. Note: I am not saying he was as good as Gretzky, that is simply not the case, but his arguement is infact true.

  • yeah i agree that yzerman was one of the best players ever but to be honest he did have a lot of good players by him like jarhead said. but yes he is still a god i miss the good old days with osgood, federov, shanahan, etc... ahhh good times

  • Didn't have the players by his side? Yea your right I suppose Fedorov, Lidstrom, Shanahan, Coffey, Primeau, Hull, Larionov, and Chelios were all just dead weight. O and not to mention even Pavs and Zetts later.

  • Yzerman was good as Gretzky, maybe even better. Yzerman didnt have the players by his side that Gretzky had. Yzerman is the best and will always be the best

  • Didn't have the players by his side? Yea your right I suppose Fedorov, Lidstrom, Shanahan, Coffey, Primeau, Hull, Larionov, and Chelios were all just dead weight. O and not to mention even Pavs and Zetts later.

  • That goal 2:36 minutes in was amazing

  • Kick-ass video

  • he has such good tricks b/c hes also plays soccer and that just gave him that extra edg

  • A man like steve needs 2 tribute videos, part 2 is a highlight reel of great goals, part 1 is when he changed his game to lead his team to 3 cups. awesome video and player...

  • Thank you for the vid again, it brings back a lot of good memories. Man, I miss the Captain..

  • Greatest Captain in NHL history no1 can take his place Im glad Nick Lidstrom knows that

  • Killer song, for a killer captain. Steve I miss you!!!

  • Great video! I love all your vids! Thanks for sharing them.

  • good video it's nice to see someone that respects Stevie Y as mush as I do

  • To YzermanFan19; A song that will get us pumped up? Yzerman retiring is a sad thing.. I think he/she made an excellent song choice.

  • @YzermanFan19- Um? A video that gets us pumped up? Why would you want THAT? Yzerman retiring is a sad thing. I think he/she made an -excellent- song choice.

  • I love these Video's but youshould consider putting a song that will get us pumped up.

  • your two Yzerman tributes are by far the best I have seen

  • Brilliant. I've loved all three of your videos. I'll look forward to the any others! Thanks!

  • Wow. Great video. I'm looking forward to seeing more in the future. Yzerman is the man. I hope the NHL honors his career properly at the begining of this upcoming season.

  • it's "be like that" by 3 doors down

  • thank you very much. :]

  • can I have the name of the song?

  • it's just an honor to see such a great vid of such a great man
