  • Pet food is disgusting, Prey Model Raw ftw!

  • I feed my dog beneful, Is there anything bad in it?

  • @Megastar8271

yep, beniful is fine, you just might want to watch out for those little canned or boxxed meals for your pets. we dont EVER give our dogs dog food... we just give them boston market chicken LOL.

  • hell nothing wrong with pet food. my dog is 14 years old and he still runs, jump, fetches and plays like he was a pup and I feed him the cheap stuff. Oh and I can she that weird chick being a crazy ass cat lady.

  • The last comment by Debbye - "talk to your vet" is the worst advice. The entire veterinarian industry has been bought and paid for by pet food manufacturers. Vet schools, grants and scholarships are all paid for by pet food makers. Don't ask a vet. All you'll get is buy this product...

  • @doctordoolittle2800 Ur sooo rite! when i got my first puppy i was feeding him puppy chow ( i kno bad food:(), and when i went to go get him vaccinated i told him if i was feeding him a good food that was healthy and he said "yea sure"

  • @doctordoolittle2800 truth. "Number 1 vet recommended Science Diet" is the brand your vet will tell you because they are paid in so many different ways to tell you that.

  • My white cat got sick with watery stools ;it was serious. She was sick for 4 months cost me over $300. at the vet to tell me she had an infection . Inj. & antibotics did not help. Finally I gave her one Lomotal ,did not help; gave her 2 ,3 .

After two weeks of this med., 3 in the morning & 3 at night . I got her bowels

corrected. She went down from 15 lbs to 6 lbs.Went to Pet Smart got Senior dry & wet food.Kept fresh water in several places to encourage her to drank .She's alive.

    No cheap fd

  • Such bad information. One part says grain is ok. It causes skin problems, obesity, diabetes, and dental decay. Most wild animals, especially carnivores, eat grain. Dry food is the worst. It is heated to the point of not being recognizable; it is high carb, and then chemical soup is added so that pets will eat this dry garbage. Do you eat crackers to clean your teeth? Dry food cleaning the teeth is a myth. Home made diets are the best & raw is supreme.

  • my dog will only eat taco bell

  • @quicklady that's cause it's dog food. ;^ )

  • 0_o shocking.

  • Americans NEVER LEARN!! I feed my dogs with Real beef from the meat shop. Not that Digusting Recycle Meat called dog food.

  • Would never feed my dog anything in a can...

  • And that means almost all dry dog and cat food products. Pedigree and Purina suck!

  • @gongoozler18 and iams, one of the worst. the labs have extreme animal abuse:(

  • @nadiya1is1here i wrote them when I found out their animal testing to tell them i would never use their product again.. they responded with... (paraphrasing) that was a long time ago, and it was a subsidiary that has since closed... no accountability

  • @kimhunter2 hmm ok

  • She said she wants the government to regulate the pet food industry. That will never happen. The government allows it, so no one should turn to the government to regulate it. As long as the government gets their share of the profit, they are going let pet food companies continue doing business as usual. Pet owners need to be self-reliant and get educated about the CORRECT diet for dogs and cats. Cooked anything is wrong, Simple as that.

  • Heather Lyons and all other pet owners should simply stop feeding their pets anything cooked or in a can. The ads for pet foods are misleading and the propaganda from veterinarians and pet food companies tell people to feed commerical pet food. Pets need, must have, and are designed to eat a raw diet. Heather Lyons should find recipes for raw cat diets or buy a diet that is raw with ingredients she can read and understand and recognize just by looking at it.

  • Her cat died from tainted pet food and she is now feeding her other cat Fancy Feast? What?! And about the reporter... she says it should have as the first ingredients meat or "grains"?? Grains? What? Cats and dogs shouldn't eat grains! Grasses, yes, some, but not grains like rice and not corn. Ugh.. whatever. It's so hard to get people to understand.

  • this is one of the reason why I stopped eating meat, bc not even for humans we can be sure of what goes in.

  • Wants a healthy natural dog..feed RAW. Cats dont thrive on dry food, they dont need carbs..cats do best on canned food. Dogs do not need carbs period...they need RAW meat..not veggies.

  • guess what - if your pet was wild animal what would it eat - everything that goes into that pot that they cook up - oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just wanted to say that if your pet was a wild animal it has an average life span for 4 to five years. animals live a lot longer as pets you you have to watch what you feed.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOWS A BETTER WAY TO FEED MY CAT AND DOG? SHOULD i SWITCHED TO RAW? LIKE VEGGIES?

  • @MelissaMagnificent

cook food for your pet. We put chicken breast, peas, carrots, and rice all in a big pot and boil it until the rice is done.

  • @Jenniferladybug

If you only feed your pet chicken, peas, carrots and rice, your pet will not be healthy enough. Your pet will seriously be lacking nutrients and calcium. Your pet needs bones. A raw food diet is best. Dogs and cats don't need rice, no dog or cat would eat rice.

  • @MelissaMagnificent no, i dont think you should switch to vegetables specially with a cat who is a true carnivore. you can cook their own food.

  • @MelissaMagnificent I suggest reading below books for your pets. first book show you how to make healthy dog food by your dog's weight. That was how I started cooking for my dogs 5 years ago.

I feed them mainly raw meats, bone, veg. herbs, oils, yogurt, egg yoke, cottage cheese, apple cider vinegar etc.

Holistic guide for a healthy dog by Wendy Volhard and Kerry Brown DVM

The Goldsteins' WELLNESS & LONGEVITY PROGRAM by Robert S. Goldstein, VMD and Susan J. Goldstein

  • @redbutterflyz I feed my dog homemade dog food like 70% meat, egg with shells all grinded up little bit of rice and some heart and gizzard a bit of olive oil and liver once a week. Is that good? I quit kibble, my Shih Tzu Gizmo wouldn't touch the stuff. Now he seems happy. What u think?

  • @SPIRITNDLIFE I think what you are doing is great! Especially egg shells being grinded ! It sounds like you did some study :)

If you would like to know more about it, I suggest read the book called :Holistic guide for a healthy dog by Wendy Volhard and Kerry Brown DVM" It is very easy to read and follow the instruction and quality of your dog's life will be improved so much :) I hope yours and my 2 dogs will live healthy and happy life !

  • What they didn't mention - "meat and bone meal" can be "meat" and "bones" from any animal! It could be euthanized dogs and cats, no kidding. With all the chemicals used to put them to death. In dog and cat food. Do some research on rendering plants if you don't believe me. Rendering plants are places where dead animals are ground up, cooked, and turned into a 'meal.' No animal is too putrid or cancerous to be embraced by the renderer. I feed my dogs a natural diet - none of that crap!!!!!

  • @chadpopstar what do you feed your dog?

  • Things every person should know:

-Animal Cells. Both animals and Humans are made of and from animal cells.

-Organic Versus Conventional method of growing and raising plants, animals, and humans.

-How Food impacts our bodies. The food we eat directly impacts the health of all living organisms.

-Raw Versus Cooked. Eating cooked anything is very bad for our bodies.

If you can research the above things I mentioned you will have a new understanding of what our body needs.

    Go Raw Today.

  • This is EXACTLY why I switched ot Raw.

  • Wet food gives my cat the runs. Hell, he drags his ass on the carpet like he were racing something.

  • /watch?v=g9DTzDfYMxo&feature=related

  • Oh yeah, their goal is to get the government to regulate pet food. What would then happen to the price? It would absolutely skyrocket. Many people would then not be able to have pets and other people would be put out of work because of lower sales in pet products.

  • Oh for goodness sake, simply feed your pets RAW foods, organic meat, fish and veges, end of ! No jabs or chipping either...they are wild animals and should be treated as such, if you regard your 'pet' as domesticated, you will be stuck in sleep mode, no animal is ever a 'pet' or 'domesticated' so start giving them the respect they deserve ! If you can't do that, then don't bother having a cat or a dog in your care, end of !

  • animals have been bred for hundreds of years to be domestic, they still have wild instincts but that doesn't mean you can just start feeding them raw meet. It can actually make them sick if they are not used to it. Also, vegetables are just an empty filler, they don't have the calories your dog needs. My dog is a domestic pet, he would die if he was alone in the wild, and hes very happy being pampered and treated as such.

  • Kibbles is the best. People should go for kibbles.

  • they talk about crap foods that killed her cat so she feeds fancy feast!! Like wtf that is one of the worst she can feed! Anoyone should try Wellness or Innova.

  • How can anybody possibly escape by-products? Even if you feed your pets raw beef purchased from the supermarket, those slaughtered cattle grew up on cattle feed, which invariably is enriched with protein meal, which are by-products from rendering plants.

  • buy fish for your cat... no garbage in that.

i always buy cod for my cats...

  • This is Edna with Nutro. I find this video informative, yet it's very generalized. This report did not mention that Menu Foods manufactured a certain type of canned food (chunked with gravy) for many pet food companies, instead of implying the recall affected both canned and dry foods.

  • LOL! I was View Number 911

  • Remember The Four A's!!!

    1)Ingredients

    2)Preservatives

    3)Colors

    4)Flavors

A's??!? Dosen't someone review this crap before it airs? Good topic but a little bloated.

  • Yes, the four A's. Artificial Ingredients, Artificial Preservatives, Artificial Colors and Artificial Flavors... how difficult is that to understand?

  • I am so happy that people are bringing attention to this, but yet this lady is still feeding her pets fancy feast which is not very good! And if my memory serves me correctly contains by-products!!

  • all pet food you buy contains byproducts... all of it... no matter what brand, whether you get it at the vet's or whatever - all of it.

skins, fat, beaks, feed, genitals, brains, bone meal, egg shells from the hatcheries, eyes, etc, etc, etc... and ofcourse manure is impossible to be rid of in that stuff, too.

get your cat real fish - cheap ground fish if you can find it.

  • hcvang,

"skins, fat, beaks, feed, genitals, brains, bone meal, egg shells from the hatcheries, eyes, ".......

exactly like in McDonald's happy meal !!! :)

  • LOL

  • There is a website called dogfoodanalysis where you can find how your dog food rates. I do not agree that vets are necessarily the best source of nutritional advice. Their schools recieve funding from the pet food industry.

  • It's disgusting what can go into pet food! It's unhealthy and unethical. Here's some good dog foods: Halo, Life's Abundance, Holistic Blend, Life4K9, Harmony farms and Old Mother Hubbard

Thank you CBS for reporting on this!
