  • fantastic film

  • que camisita pegaste chick eh !!!!!!

  • y los pantalones de avishai no kedan atras!

  • @oleisss Anche senza pantalones-lui-SUPER:))))))

  • At 3:11 and at 3:27 we see Ballard playing with two sticks in one hand, so the other is free to use the floor tom like a conga drum. The double stick gives a neat flange-type effect on the ride cymbal. Freaking awesome.

  • the pants the bass player has on mess up the whole thing...lol

  • Avishai Cohen's clothing style changed a bit fortunately =)

  • yikes!! well, at least their musical thought pattern blends perfectly.

  • avishai's braclet hitting against the bass is kinda a cool effect.

  • Wow, what a smashing performance!!! Thank you for loading.

  • You Look so nice!

    New Trio!

    get with it!

  • without a doubt...

  • COMPLETELY a different style and feel. Stop making idiotic comments and start enjoying diversity and creativity from different artist.

  • Idiot

  • Thats a STUPID comparison........

  • dumbass

  • damn!! Avishai is crazy !! fantastic !

  • There is a brazilian acoustic guitar player, Marco Pereira, he recorded a solo version of this song, it worth a try. I actually this was a composed by a flamenco player.

  • I respect the opinions about Jeff, but i would like to know why u don't like with Redman, i love the concert from tokyojazz, the way of the song, the groove while plays black notes at principal ride, all !

Anyway, Jeff Ballard, Antonio Sanchez and Peter Erskine are my favourite drummers for trios of contemporany jazz; and the lovers of jazz knows that.

  • This is the only band, that I've heard so far, that I like Ballard in. I don't like him with Redman and really really don't like him with Mehldau. Not a good choice to replace Rossy. And yeah Cohen looks goofy as hell but is an awesome player. I wish someone would put up a video of him doing his song "Smash". I love that song. Oh and yeah Chick is killing it here. Thanks for the video.

  • definitely. Ballard is excellent in smaller groups. I saw this trio a few years back at the regatta bar in Massachusetts - blew me away. Chick's album Change with Origin was the first time I'd heard Avishai, but now with his albums Colors, At Home and Continuo, I'm really excited about his talent.

  • Yeah I just recently got Continuo and it's the first of Avishai's albums that I have gotten and it is amazing. Everything shares the same vibe but each song has its own strong identity. I love his fondness of odd times too. Can't wait to get more of his stuff.

  • Sounds very good too w/ Kurt Rosenwinkel IMHO.

  • How familiar are you with Ballard and the FLY trio? In my opnion, his intricate rythmic sence is incredible and the way he interprets the music is unlike that of anybody else.

  • I'm not familiar with Ballard at all. He's a hell of a drummer I just haven't found an environment other than this one that I enjoy him in. I'm sure he plays with much more groups than the few I've seen him in but the few I have seen I didn't care for. Like Mehldau and Redman and it's not because of those leaders either because I love their music. I just don't care for Ballard with them. I'll check into the FLY trio though, thanks.

  • Check out Jeff Ballard playing on Kurt Rosenwinkel's "Zhivago." It's on the album "The Next Step," but there's a live version (guitar solo only) on Youtube. I've just about worn that one out! Ballard holds down two simultaneous time signatures effortlessly, and sounds marvelous doing it.

  • yea avishai is good, but he's got nothin on patitucci!

  • yeah, Avishai certainly is enamored with his "image" as much as anything...

  • why negative? just listen.

  • That actually distracts me a lot from listening, you know?

  • well, i dont think its a matter of opinion, i think Patitucci is more rounded, though this guy of course is good in many ways.

  • That bass player likes his Charlie, and I don't mean Parker

  • odd bassist.....

  • jeff ballard ,one of the best drummer around .

  • Chick el mas grande lejos....Leandro de Argentina

  • Amazing!!

  • long live phrygian bass solos!

  • and phrygian dominant. but i wish he can play more like pattituci.

  • LONG LIVE THE ONE AND ONLY 'CHIC'!!!

  • DICK

  • In Nigeria Dick means good playing and by the way he is not drugged up like a cholow

  • these cats are killin...so tight. Avishai's solo is bad!

  • flamenco? sure it is !

  • Although improvised; chick chooses every note with care! Graceful and swift!! what a master Chick is.

  • I like John Pattitucci better but I guess its a matter of opinion

  • that was awesome, could you class that as flamenco?

  • This is one of the best trio...consists of one of the best piano/keyboard players in the last 20 years and a phenomenal bass player and one of the most underrated jazz drummers. But then again there is a reason why Jeff Ballard is chosen by the greats time and time again.

  • the best bassist in the world ladies & gentelmen!!!!!!!

  • you've got to be kidding.

  • great posting from a great french drummer ! -)
