Yes, I agree, this specific portion is talking about testing prophets or spirits to see whether they are of God. And the test they must pass is to believe that Jesus was the Messiah, but you offer a great idea, to read the passage in context. Let's do that:
When read in context, to believe Jesus was the Messiah is in fact to believe that he was the Son of God who died for the sins of humanity. This can be clearly shown when you read the preceding verses to 1 John 5 which you quote. . .

4. The answer is you can't believe either one of them.
5. The problem is with the understanding of what "of God" means. "of God" in the Christian Bible does not mean "sent from God" as a prophet would be.
6. If it doesn't mean "sent from God" then your argument is invalid.

1. The point of your video, as per the introduction, was how to prove to a Christian that they must believe in the message of Mohammed.
2. To prove your point you quote 1 John which says "whoever believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God". You then quote the Quran where it describes the angel's interaction with Mary where Jesus is described as the Messiah.

You're not understanding what it means to be "of God". "Of God" does not mean SENT from God. It means that you are saved from God's judgement and eternal punishment. In addition, the verse you used from the Quran doesn't say that Mohammed believed that Jesus was the Messiah. All it is doing is simply describing an event that happened in the past.

Not sure where you got your info from but the demons and satan acknowledged Jesus as the son of God: Matt 8:28 & 29, Verse 29Behold, they(demons or Satan) cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? (Matt. 8:29).
Even Satan acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God.

And before Jesus come, the world will come under the rule of one Great Khalifa Named Al-mahdi Al-Muntazar. He will come in reign and the world become lovely and peaceful. :)
