I really fell sorry for Utter's character... he consistently tries to help her (and tried to help bill) and got fucking nowhere. What a martyr complex he has to have, to attach himself to smart but incredibly self-destructive people... and not understand. +a billion to the series, to Weigert, and to Dickens, and to Calie.

Yeah this takes me back ... really does. I remember being entranced with this series and even more so when Jane and Joanie's relationship began to develop. I loved this scene most of all, and was so dissapointed at the open ending.
That was one virtuoso monologue Weigert gave. I think my favorite scenes in the whole damn show were between her and Dayton Callie. Those 2 were never off a hair. Like watching 2 perfectly coordinated dancers.
