@wumpscuto You leave them in place in some instances. In this case, the metal one absolutely is left in place. The 2x4 will be removed after the roof sheathing is applied as it provides even better bracing once nailed. Structural engineers are the ones who specify when and if diagonal bracing is to be removed.
