@LightSixty Tv tropes cites the Firefly effect (named after the show) people were scared about becoming attached because they thought it would be cancelled, I guess it's why the best shows seem to never last.

@wikieditspam case in point.. my Firefly was Space: Above & Beyond. I loved that show. I was away at camp when the last episode aired. I told my brother to record it. Dad was an ass and didn't let him. It was 10 years later I finally saw the last episode on youtube. Ever after that, whenever I see a good potential scifi on TV, I don't get attached because I KNOW it's going to fail.
