  • Thank you, great to watch and listen.

Came by after reading a Clive Cussler book (Inca Gold) and wondered if there was a song Dirk Pitt mentioned.... and lo and behold.... there is.... New stuff for me in Holland to enjoy. Again thanks! Grtz Johan

  • Raggy!

  • I would be very happy if I could get one hand to play like that. No wait... finger! If I could get one finger to play like that.

  • @MamaJacqueroo Thanks, and you're welcome.

  • He's good BUT if you want to hear THE BEST, check out Tommy Johnson.

  • @yellowharv Tommy Johnson is very good. I'd sound like that too if I had a bunch of digital accompaniment behind me. LOL.

  • @soccercleatscrush Thank you.

  • I just had to get one of this man's songs on my twitter and Facebook accounts. He mostly does piano instrumentals, but once or twice he sings, and his voice is a treat. Listen, enjoy, subscribe to his channel to see his selection.

  • @ColonelMac1 Thanks. I'll be sure to check out your site. Sincerely, Allen Dale.

  • Love to hear this oldie but goodie. My Auntie had it on a 78, I don't know who the singer was, but I would always pester her to play this at least once whenever we went there. Later, I heard a string band play it in Philadelphia, during that city's mummers' parade. The string band sound is awesome to hear, impossible to describe in words. A string band performed at Veterans' Stadium the night Mike Schmitt's number was retired. I was one of 56,000 frozen folks there that night. it was worth it.

  • @musicmandon1 Thanks for the neat story!

  • Wow, you are truly fantastic!

  • @steowe I am sorry, but I don't know John Wilkinson. Perhaps we'll meet someday. Sincerely, Allen Dale.

  • where was this taken?what town and what restaurant?

  • @steowe Mount Carmel IL. It was at my friend, Lenard's home. I will be starting August 3rd, 2010 performing at Nostalgia Restaurant on 5th street. Sincerely, Allen Dale.

  • thanks.

  • Just wanted to say sorry that I called you Dale and not Allen! OOPS:) ~ I was thinking of Del Wood and saw the Dale part of your last name. Called you that by mistake. Didn't mean to do so.

  • It's OK.. I answer to Allen Dale, or Allen Dale.

  • Wow, Dale! You are the best. Your videos are sort of like Lay's Potato Chips! I can't have "just one"... got to have at least a dozen! How many hours did you practice a day and for how long?

    Your Fan,

    Jean

  • Thanks. Been practicing for 44 years now. Usually an hour or two a day.

  • Fantastic. Way back when I was a boy (in the 1970s) I studied piano from a man in Portland, Oregon. Your style reminds me so much of him. He was an inspiring teacher.

Many of your delightful YouTube selections used to make up my play list. (I quit playing like 20 years ago.) About the only one of my favorites that I did not see on your YouTube list was Dill Pickles Rag. (That was sort of a subtle request that you might record that one.) Anyway, thanks for the music. It is great!

  • You're welcome. I will try and record Dill Pickles Rag someday soon.

  • i love this song- this is a wonderful rendition!

  • thanks

  • I just love hearing you play

  • God bless you!

  • What is Del Wood style?

  • I learned how to play the piano by listening to Del Wood. I sound hauntingly similar to her.

  • So Del Wood is a pianist?

  • Del Wood was the Grand Ole' Opry pianist from 1951 until she passed away in 1989.

  • Allen hearing you play this song brings back memories of old New Orleans where I grew up near the French Quarter listening to the calliopes play on the riverboats. A few cocktails, some burnt cork on my face, and I feel like heading down to the levee. Once again you have succeeded at pulling me out of a major depressive episode. Faith in God, Allen's music, and Prozac, thats all this guy needs. Thanks, Dan in Pass Christian, Ms.

  • God Bless you, Dan.

  • Wow! That is amazing! I dont suppose that you have a copy of this song that I could download do you?

  • Thanks. I don't have a copy. Sorry.

  • There a lot versions of this around on the internet but this is hands down my favorite. It reminds me of the version that Claude Bolling recorded on "Original Rags" Great Job! You are one fantastic ragtime piano player.

  • Thanks alot.

  • Damn! Inspiring. I play professionally but I can't do THAT. Gonna go practice right now.. Thanks!

  • Thanks, and God Speed.

  • Best piano player on You Tube and the Internet!!! Also, do you play the old song of Del Wood of "Ada, Sweet as Apple Cider"? Thanks

  • bigtex, I have Ida! Sweet as Apple Cider already posted on youtube. Thanks. Just type in the youtube search box...

    Allen Dale - Ida!

  • I am very impressed! I played honky tonk piano, myself, in the 70's at Knotts Berry Farm and Shakey's Pizza Parlors and the such. Glad to hear that there are people like you keeping Honky-Tonk alive. Keep up the good work.

  • Thank you.

  • Best version on YouTube! A true inspiration--bravo! :D

  • Thanks and God bless you.

  • what a song, and what a great piano player

  • Thank you.

  • It is a gray day outside, but the sun is shining in my room. Thank you for brightening my day!

  • Thanks

  • Bartender!!

Another round of beers!! And one for the piano player!!!

  • LOL...thanks!

  • That is real foot-tapping music!

  • Thank you.

  • A true musician. I play this on calliope, but i only have three octaves, so it sounds less than glamorous compared to this.

  • Thanks. I have been priviledged to play the calliope on the steamboats Julia Belle Swain, Delta Queen, Missisippi Queen, Natchez, Belle of Louisville, and the American Queen. I also played the IU calliope in Madison once for Chataqua Fest.

  • well then you know all about small manuals. I simply cannot play with 32 keys. Oh susanna in g, that's it. Isn't it a shame what they are doing to those grand ol boats.

  • I do understand small mauals, but can play several hundred songs on the calliope. My fav used to be my Wizard of Oz medley. I have spoken with my Congressman, Senator and signed petitions to save the Delta Queen but alas, I think it is over. The MQ is being dismantled and the Qmerican Queen is in questionable status.

  • How do these jerks keep getting elected. What was the reason given for docking these vessels in the first place.

  • well...the Delta is 82 years old now. She like all loved ones will pass away at some point and time. I think it has come. As for the MQ and the AQ... I could care anymore. Please send me private emails heretofore, so we don't hog the comment space. Thanks.

  • Do you play professionally? I'd love to see you play live if possible.

  • I have a gig tomorrow... 3/14/09 at Oakview Heights Nursing and rehaab Center at 2 PM... beyond that??? who knows.

  • thanks

  • I don't have any notes to this song. Sorry.

  • Wow!! Absolutely amazing! I just fell on my ass watching how fluently you play! Keep on playing these tunes!

  • thanks!!!

  • THANKS MAN!!!!

  • thank you.

  • A million notes and didn't miss a one! Amazing! I don't know how that is humanly possible.

  • thanks

  • Love your playing...it's marvelous! Simply marvelous. I love to play, but I could NEVER play like this!! Thanks for sharing.

  • thanks!

  • thanks

  • Ah yes...If only I'd kept up my paino lessons. Hey, better move that candle on the back of the piano...it jumps about as fast as you do. Thanks.

  • LOL....Thanks!

  • Hi Allen, haveyou considered playing some of Scott Joplins pieces; easy rider and maple leaf rag?

  • I have the MAPLE LEAF RAG and the ENTERTAINER on youtube altrady!!!!

  • Great playing...I thought I was the only one who remembered Del Wood. Showing my age. From Florida Harvey

  • Harvey, I grew up learning from Del Wood record albums!

  • Just great thank you

  • thank you.

  • Allen, you should look into online music publishing at your own website. Talk to some internet pros because, with your talent, you could sell downloads that customers burn into their own CDs on their computers, etc.

    These tunes are great interpretions.

  • Thank you.

  • I so wish I could play that like you do; I know PRACTICE PRACTICE !!! LOL

    REALLY GREAT!

  • thanks

  • Fabulous! I love it, I can't stop listening to it. You're just like a player piano, perfect every time! Keep the songs coming!

  • thanks

  • Finally found the name of this song!

    Nice playing!

  • thanks.

  • Do you have a CD out? If not, PUT ONE OUT!!!! It dont take a genius to figure out that they would sell. I will buy the first 10. More talent in your little finger than I got in my whole body. Listened to them all. Down Yonder is still my favorite. Thanks

  • I have no money nor plans to release a CD anytime soon. Thanks.

  • WOW Outstanding!!! Thanks so much! Guess you practiced a little? ;)

  • thanks

  • Just came across your music today. This is about the 10th song of yours I've listened to in a row. I've always loved this song. You are an extremely talented person. My feet can't stop tapping.

  • thanks!!!

  • magnifique ! Great ! J'adore le ragtime, you play very very good ! Excellent

  • thank you!!!

  • fantastic......i never get tired of listening....

  • thanks!!

  • Thank you!

  • Wow, That was great!

  • Thank you!

  • WOW! AMAZING! You are indeed the best pianoist I have ever seen/heard. Kepp it up, don't ever stop playing.

  • thank you.

  • PIANIST NOT PIANOIST!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful. Thanks for post it.I have got the midi audio but this is faboulous.

  • thank you!

  • This is so fantastic!!! LOVE IT!

  • Thank You!

  • Fabulous! Do you play "Dixie"?

  • Yes, I know Dixie, but I seldom play it. I may try and add it to the repoitoire later.

  • I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to your music tonight

  • thank you!

  • You may be your own worst critic, Allen. I got a kick out of the original REL too. For as fast as you can play I'd swear you were peddling a player piano. Great stuff as always.

Really dig your take on the classic country sound. I'd like to see/hear more. Maybe some Buck Owens.

  • Thank You!

  • HE IS his own WORST CRITIC!!! I'm the camera man, I KNOW!!!! Allen is amazing, for his style of music, he is TOPS. Classical is best left to the classically trained pianists, he has so many requests for classical, and it really isn't his style at all. Ragtime, or thumping out an old country tune is his FAVS! Len P.

  • Wonderful!

    Could you play That's Entertainment!?

  • I will record That's Entertainment next time I get the chance to go to Len's place. Thank you!

  • Thats Entertainment was posted 3-30-08!!

  • you, sir, are most impressive.

  • Thank You!

  • awesome !!!

  • Thank you!
