  • There's one thing I absolutely hate: It's the fact that NOBODY remembers or talks about people who haven't considered themself anything else than "BOSANAC/ BOSANKA". I mean, there are people (including myself) who have Parents with different denominations. YES,THOSE COUPLES EXIST! So, I guess those aren't Bosnian or why does everyone has to be either serb, croat/catholic or muslim? I wish the Religion wouldn't matter, cos being muslim, catholic, serb itself doesn't make a good person out of you!

  • We welcome all Bosnians in America, but no Serbs.

  • @AlbanianChetnik That is wrong. We welcome Serbs too. All ethnic groups are welcome in America.

  • Comment removed

  • @TeamRedShadow This isn't Bosnia. This is America. All the peoples of the world are welcome. I'm sorry about the ethnic conflict and war, but this is a country that moves forward. We can't stay in the past.

  • Comment removed

  • @TeamRedShadow But that's what you don't understand. America can't be Europe. We're supposed to be the new beginning, a starting over. Old conflicts have to stay in the old world. In America, everyone is supposed to be able to start over.

  • @AlbanianChetnik yeah fuck the serbs :D

  • mostly of this "bosnians" in america are bosnian serbs..and not muslims =)

  • @balkan9014 no i think they are mostly Muslim's because they were mostly the ones who immigrated to America during the war.

  • You might as well call this " BOSNIAN MUSLIMS in AMERICANS"

RELIGION IF FOR THE UNEDUCATED HORDES OF BARBARIANS !

  • @MrLukasart exactly, there is no word about other people (croatians, serbs etc.) who also live /lived on this territory

  • Saint Louis, Missouri, Chicago Illinois, Jacksonville-Florida and Atlanta Georgia have a higher bosnian population than Astoria queens.

  • 5:12 --> R.I.P Muhammad, the man on the left corner with blue shirt and glasses. He is a great man, and a wonderful uncle. May Allah grant you Heaven, Inshallah.

  • BOG, BOSNA i BOSNJACI ! ! !

  • Bosnia is many Centauries older than Serbia.

Its enough of serbia Propaganda this same Propaganda

    have destroy Jugoslavia.

  • Sure, it's called Serbo-Croatian, but that's not incorrect or even politically so. I mean, it does exclude the Bosniak dialect, but it's called Serbo-Croatian because Bosnia hasn't existed as long as Yugoslavia did. And anyway, Bosniaks haven't either. Let some decades pass, and hopefully things will turn around. But right now, there's still a transition from Yugoslavia to war to postwar, and that's not going to be an easy task.

  • i reprezent tht saint louis mizery where haters are history im some u neva be n u dnt mean shyt to me u dnt mean shyt u dont mean shyt to me BOSNAAAA!! 4 life

  • Apart from religion, what's the difference between the Serbs, Bosnians, and Croatians?

  • what a fuck is bosnia ? hahaha thats traitor muslim serbs

  • Not all Bosnians are Muslim! The ones back home who say they're Muslim drink alcohol and eat pork! Bosnian is NOT an ethnic term, we are the same as Croats and Serbs, these people are being foolish by saying it like it's an ethnic term. The people here are dressed like Turks traditionally, we are NOT TURKS. We are Slavic! The 'culture' they speak of hasn't been practised for 60 or so years...there is NO Bosnian language! It's Serbo-Croatian, or the Yugoslavian language!

  • @insertnamehereKJK I agree with you, especially on the language part and how they eat pork and drink alcohol.

  • @insertnamehereKJK I agree with you concerning language. But I think you didn´t actually listen to the documentary well. It says that Bosnians have different religious backgrounds. Furthermore the fact that somebody drinks alcohol or eats pork alone doesn´t mean that he is not a Muslim, however this person maybe does not follow the rules of his religion. I think that goes for many religions.

  • @MyMemleket Yeah, but it seemed pretty one-sided to me, considering they only showed Bosniak Bosnians. I would've like it much more if it showed what I see every week- Bosnian Serbs, Croats, and Muslims together drinking coffee and having a good time, apart from just Bosniaks practicing dances that haven't been practiced for 60+ years in a mosque. It would've been nice for them to go to a Croats house and say "some Bosnians are Catholic" and to a Serb's and say "some Bosnians are Orthodox"

  • @insertnamehereKJK It's pretty obvious that the problem here isn't the clip, but you.

    1. Bosnian is per August 2010 a language spoken by 2 million people; a language recognized by the International Organization for Standardization, United States Boards on Geographic Names, and the Permanent Committee on Gepgraohical names.

You think your mere opinion outweighs that?:)

  • So basically what I'm trying to say is that you can stop accusing this TV company of "misrepresenting" the reality of Bosnian Americans when they're just presenting a reality that is not to your liking.

  • @xLejlaSaricx Wow, you love to talk! No, though you may say you speak Bosnian, that doesn't make it a language, it's the same as Croatian and Serbian, it's ALL the same language. As far as I saw, almost all families practiced Islam inside and outside of the home, if not, my mistake. If Bosnian is a true language how come people haven't called their language 'Bosnian' until the past 20 years?! Don't give me that 'They weren't allowed to' bs, either.

  • @MyMemleket And they also could've shown the secular Bosnian people, these are the people I grew up with. The Christians don't really go to church and the Muslims don't go to a mosque often if at all. Most people from Bosnia that live in the USA are pretty liberal as far as I see it, not conservative (socially and politically too)

  • 2. The clip depicts the Bosnian American reality as it is, not as you want it to be. While it is true that 50% of Bosnia is Christian, 95% of the people IDENTIFYING as Bosnians in the US today are of Bosniak (previously Bosnian Muslim) heritage. That is why this TV crew didnt go to a Serb or a Croat's house to depict how some Bosnians are Orthodox or Catholic. Because 90% of the Serbs or Croats they'd ask would identify more with Serbia and Croatia. You and I both know that, so let's cut the bs

  • 3. As for your claim that the clip didn't show secular Bosnians; how were the Arslanagic family, Aida Sehovic, Sidika Lemes, the cevapi making faily, etc, not secular? Because they had Muslim names?

  • 4. Claiming that Bosniak folklore is "turkish culture that hasn't been practiced in 60+ years" is a lie, plain and simple. The costumes are Turkish inspired, the music Slavic (as are we, somehow you seem to think that the clip implies that we aren't?) and the dance was performed all throughout the years of Yugoslavia. You have plenty of clips on youtube of Bosniak folklore acts from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

  • @xLejlaSaricx By the way, I NEVER said it was Turkish culture, just Turkish inspired clothes, which you agreed on. YES the croats and serbs identify more with Croatia and Serbia respectively, but have you noticed that maybe it's partly because Muslims/Bosniaks have taken the name by themselves? Oh, and just because Bosnian is recognized as a language, doesn't make it one. Jesus is recognized by 1 billion people as the savior of the world, but where's the truth in that?

  • Both the existence of Jesus and of the Bosnian language are real enough for the people who believe in him/speak the language, and that's really all that matters. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that B/S/C are extremely similar languages; but forcefully trying to scoop them together (especially under a name like "Serbo-Croatian", excluding any Bosnian or Bosniak influence) has proved unsuccessful in the past, so what would be the point of doing it again? What, precisely, would you gain?

  • @xLejlaSaricx Just call it Yugoslavian, no real hurt there. Yeah, Serbo-Croatian is kind of a bad name. And, yes I agree with you on the national identity, poz.

  • Oh, and if Serbs and Croats don't want to identify with Bosnia because Bosniaks do, then that's ok, but don't try to make that out to be Bosniak's fault. If the Serbs/Croats wanted Christianity to be connected to Bosnia in the same manner that Islam is today, then they should have done what the Albanian Christians did, and embrace the national identity of the country they lived in instead of opting for Croatdom and Serbdom.

  • What a great documentary thanks a lot Ebrutv!
