  • AWWW lol cute kitty all wrapped up in a towel...I like how you tell him "your ok" he is probably thinking "NO I'M NOT!! I look like a drowned rat and you have me on youtube!!! " lol This cat is mild compared to mine...I have bad scratches sometimes :/

  • I love the shot of the big, tough manly man kissing his kitty on the head.

  • Wow--I forgot that i did this for you! I bet Anakin showed up in more of my YT than I realize! I came here to give you crap about this video, remembering the dramz this spawned! lol It was nice to see Anakin again. :)

  • @anakin1814 Now that I think back, the first conversation we ever had was about Anakin and Mackenzie looking like they could be twins.

  • @OhCurt Yeah. Those cats brought us together. It's all connected!!

  • @anakin1814 Meow together, hiss alone?

  • i wet my pantss:P

  • cats don't like water xD

  • That went much better than I imagined. I had no idea that it is possible to bath a cat and not end up needing stitches. Learn something everyday.

  • Aww!! My cat is part Maine Coon and has a fluffy bum. When we have this 'situation' Dad just cradles him on one arm (hand between the front legs as if he were a leopard lounging on a branch f you know what I mean) then it's over to the sink for a quick spruce up. He's never particularly impressed by the whole ritual, but holding him like that makes him pretty relaxed.

  • LOL - that's a fun visual. Thanks for sharing the story.

Hey, if it works and all humans involved walk away without bloody scratch marks, it's all good.

    :-)

  • I LOVE the music, very appropriate!! I take my cats to the vet, for their baths, about 1 or 2 times a year.. I tried once, to no avail, and I just felt to bad for doing it..

And for the record, I love SOME cat videos, NOT all.. lol

    Cheers!

    Jeremiah Christopher / Plythonj

  • I was waiting for the claws to come out on this one.

  • Yeah.. I tried to give one of my cats a bath (he seems to be the only cat I know that doesn't care for self cleansing).. He taught me by clawing my lip LOL I ended up buying that dry shampoo for him LOL

  • Your lip? OUCH! Hopefully it didn't take too long to heal.

Yeah, I'd be investing in the dry stuff too after that. Yikes.

  • haha, seeing the cat get all soggy & embarrassed had me laughing maniacally :)

Has anyone ever figured out why cats hate water?

  • Good question - I know I have to have read about this at least once or twice but I forget the explanation.

  • LOL! My cats heard the bath and your cat complaining and ran away!

I have a black cat too. He is short haired, but also rather messy - especially with the liter box. He goes to play in his water bowl, then plays in the liter sand and tracks it all over the house. He always gets a bath before company is over.

  • That's one heck of a routine he's pulled the two of you into. LOL

  • I think cats are typically OCD

  • Yep. It also had to be a statement on the quality of my work. I just know it.

  • LOL No need to get all catty now...

  • He had to make real sure he was clean after his bath :)

The life of a cat is rough...

  • Is he declawed?? i know when we give our cats a bath we have to wear socks so they don't CLAW at us

  • Mackenzie still has all his parts (neutering aside).

The socks thing - I'm gonna have to remember that. Thanks!

  • AWW.. she loves to bathe.. :)

  • lol, He - and not so much.

    ;-D

  • Your cat is black and already crosses your path every day....you're really pushing your luck Curt!

  • LOL!!!

  • lol....just had a flash back to the one outdoor cat i had that i needed help to bathe. my sister and i would fill one bucket with water and one with soapy water and i would have to hold the cats paws and dunk while she scrubbed. the cat hated water.

  • Oh man - a two person job? LOL

They say everything happens for a reason... maybe these things are supposed to test our endurance. HA!

  • not to mention our healing time with all the scratches! lol

  • LOL @ "gotta get the good stuff"

  • That good stuff wasn't so "good" when this hose-down, lemme tell ya!

  • Oh I remember giving my cat a bath. He was so pitiful all wet. But sooo freaking cute. We had to bathe Diesel once a month because my son has allergies. And it really made a difference if you give the cat a bath :)

  • lol, they really do look kinda cute when they're all sloppy and wet, huh.

The allergies thing - I rembmer hearing that a long time ago but had forgotten. And I do know a lot of people who are allergic who can't ever come over because of it. Hmmm.

  • Poor cat! Or is it poor Curt? ;)

  • *Accepting sympathy between the hours of 8am and 10pm EST*

  • Goodness! Guantanamo Bay right here in River City. The horrors! Who would even consider waterboarding a sweet kitty like that? Curt - I thought you were such a nice young man. For shame.

  • That's what he said.

    :-)

  • Licking yourself a lot afterwards, you mean?

  • I was under the impression that cats bathed themselves. That is to say, I have never known one to stink like say a dog.

  • Terry, this may be where the main problem lies. My two male cats often behave as if they think they are dogs.

If Abner could, I know he would bark and chase cars!

  • LOVE the hovering technique.. classic

  • Thanks, I didn't even think about it. My concern was "how do I set this camera up quickly so that it's out of harm's way?"

  • I remember reading a "How to bathe your cat" post once. It started out something like, "Have the cat rest on a folded towel while you run the bathwater." I wondered what planet THAT guy was from.

  • LOL

    Amen, sister!!

  • Made it out with all your flesh eh?

    he he he

ps took advantage of your bloopers today on the video uploading soon he he he

perhaps I won't make it out with all my flesh...

  • That bloopers reel came out really well. I'll probably have nightmares about whatever Ken was trying to cough up, of course, but it was funny.

Inspired perhaps by a random underaged commenter from a few weeks back? lol

  • LOL you have the memory of a pacadermy

  • They need to create a car-wash type thing to clean cats. Y'know, put them in one end, seal it up and turn on the water jets. They run out, getting washed as they go. Or, people could just bring them to you.

  • OMG, are you trying to hire me out for this? LOL

I like the car wash idea. Of course, I'm imagining it would be an instant kitty freak out inducer.

  • another great video Curt!!!

  • Gracias, m'dear

  • cute kitty

  • He said "meow" - which probably translates to "thanks!"

  • I haven't had a litter box accident in years.

  • I may have to send Mackenzie your way for some pointers then.

    :-)

  • lol,

I will never let you give me a bath,

you suck at washing pussy *cough* cat !

    : )

    **Kisses**

  • LOL

    (((Sonia)))

  • Loved Gary's little cameo appearance.

I'm intrigued with the thought of a litter box incident :)

  • I'm not going to rob you of that sense of mystery by revealing the details, Andy.

    :-)

  • Oh, I do remember those days, I wish I could show you the scars ☺☺☺

  • Judging from the other comments here, we might be able to form a support group based on this. Yikes!

  • See, when you bathe cats everyone wins! The cat gets bathed, you get bathed, the floor gets bathed (sometimes even buffed depending on how much running around the cat does). It's multi-tasking at its finest!

I think just about everyone with a long-haired cat has been there. Mine has IBD (irritable bowel) so I'm well practiced at this point, lol!

  • LOL @ the first part!

Sorry to hear about your kitty's IBD. It's really tough watching them battle stuff like that.

  • lol. :D

  • 8-)

  • Oh shit. Oh shit. LOL

  • I think that's probably what Mackenzie was thinking the whole time too.

    ;-)

  • Was that cat shampoo previously tested on humans?

  • Yes - and you should see what a mess they made of their cages!

  • I gotta say, your cat was remarkably tolerant. You survived...

  • Sometimes I get the impression that they're always looking for new ways of reminding me just how much they tolerate me.

  • Poor Anakin, it must have been like watching a horror movie! Has the soggy moggy forgiven you yet?:)

  • "soggy moggy" ? LOL!! I have never heard/seen that before. Awesome!

And, yeah, he's forgiven me. Actually, about half an hour later he was showing up for a back massage. That was either his forgiveness or my penance... and perhaps both.

  • OMG, I'm sure I'd be a shredded bloody pulp if I tried to bathe any of my cats. Mackenzie wasn't exactly a happy camper but he definitely took it better than any of mine would have. I have actually used a damp wash cloth on mine after one of those litterbox incidents and that's a hard enough feat to pull of. Mine are shorthairs though so it's not a very common occurrence.

  • Ah the joy of sort hair kitties... although thanks to some of Abner's mishaps, that hasn't proven to be any solid rule here. Oy.

And with as feisty as your cats are just when it comes to bed territory, I can't picture what random bath time might look and sound like. YIKES!!

  • Aw, too cute! I have never given my cats a bath.. They seem to stay clean.. guess I'm lucky! :D

  • I think I need to send one or two of mine over for some tutoring sessions.

    ;-)

  • Only people who feel sorry for the cat are the ones that never slept next to a dirty one LOL

  • Amen, brother! lol

  • Poor kitty! :D

  • He didn't even sign a release for this video. Poor kitty is right!

  • the 'bidet' effect seemed to work wonders!

  • Heheheh - sadly, he didn't provide a very stellar product review.

  • Ahahahha!

Curt, watching your cat while it was being water-boarded was hilariously amusing!

  • Water-boarded - LMAO!!!

    *BEST COMMENT*

  • It's good to be back.

  • And at the top of your game, no less.

    Welcome back!

    :-)

  • Poor Mack, you could have at least slipped him a valium before you started! He is so gonna poop in your shoe!

  • Ya know, if I'd had any I might have been too tempted to just give myself the valium and skip this process.

    ;-P

  • Oh my god... my mom tried that once, and I can still picture her removing a claw from her arm. In other words, it didn't work out well... LOL!!

  • Removing an actual CLAW from her arm??!!

Oh wow... Okay, I shall never complain about my cats swatting at me ever again. LOL

    (hopefully she wasn't seriously hurt)

  • Yes, and the claw was still ATTACHED to the cat, too. He wasn't too happy about being bathed, and he brought up his back legs and gripped her arm, and one of his claws went DEEP under the skin. It was quite a sight...

  • Just don't let him get near you with the razor, Mackenzie! ;)

I've had to give so many cats baths in my lifetime. We had ten kittens in a tub once, floating around, it was hilarious I wish we'd taken a picture.

Then I had a cat named Tinkerbell who loved water. My mom called me into the bathroom once and there was Tinkerbell, completely underwater, sitting at the bottom of the tub. She was also the dumbest cat I ever had.

  • LOL!

    (((Jenn)))

    Random cat stories, FTW

  • so many people on here have cat war stories..lol...my cat shadow however loved the water she would take showers with me the only thing that i can think of for this odd behaviour is that she hated hair balls more...lol

  • Now THAT is an unusual cat story. I love it.

  • Giving a cat a bath is a zero on the fun scale.

  • Compared to the battle you had in the video you attached, I'd say I got off way easy in that regard.

  • Hahaha you're a BRAVE man. Reminds me of the time I had to try to get pink latex paint off of a little kitten with razor sharp claws. It was painful. We both felt sorry for ourselves.

  • OH NOOOO! POOR KITTY!!

    And poor humans, too.

...how does the saying go? "That which doesn't kill us only makes us stronger so we can later sell the movie rights" ...or something like that...

  • It was bad. My brother and me were painting interior walls of a house as an odd job so it wasn't our house. Light rose carpet with pink walls for the livingroom and den. Their kitten had been locked in the bathroom and I forgot it was there and let it out. The kitten ran right into the den and through the pan of paint, over the carpet, and out of the room again. I went on the chase. My brother got the carpet cleaner, I got the scratches. Oh the sounds that wet kitty made. Lamentable.

  • Also, a little latex paint takes a huge amount of water to remove. Lots and lots of pink water...not sure if it was the paint or my blood...

  • I am getting such a mental picture... with that "Wacky Sax" tune from Benny Hill playing underneath it.

    :-)

  • Poor, Pitiful, Puddin' :+(

  • HA!

Gotta say, though. He's more of a trooper than any of the other cats I've ever had in my life.

  • Curt, You're a BRAVE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Or a stupid one. OY!

  • You're lucky man ... most cats would sooner claw your arm off than take that shower :)

  • I think they conspire with each other when it comes to such attacks.

...not that I'm paranoid or anything...!!

  • I didn't realize Gary got his screen name from his cat!

    Okay...stupid video response coming...lol!

  • Stupid responses are the best kind, are ya kiddin'?

    ;-)

  • Oooops....sorry...the external drive I had it on isn't being recognized. It might take a while...darn it!

  • hahaha! You made it through unharmed! :-)

I bathed a cat, ONCE! I was left a bloody mess! Lesson learned...ha!

  • My previous cat Shera (named after the princess of power, yes) was that kind of cat. Only had to bathe her once but I walked away looking like I probably fought in the same world war you did.

    :-)

  • Not enough bloodshed imo

  • I know. Was tempted to splash fake blood on my face for a finale.

  • This one time at band camp a black cat crossed my path...

  • Be careful Mackenzie doesn't try to steal your breath at night now. Please... tell me he is not named after M. Phillips.

  • Actually... he is.

    :-D

  • Awesome...only on YouTube can you get 'pussy' in HQ...

  • I'm trolling...or is that spamming...no wait, I'm here to solicit MY perfect suggestions for you...

    :)

  • Jipsi spam, FTW!!

  • 8 lives remaining

  • LMAO!

  • You know that's just horrible and inhumane to give a cat a bath like that! You have a good cat. My cat would have scratched the hell out of me. *waits for a knee to the nuts knowing fair well that I'm wearing a cup*

  • Bend over. I got an early Festivus present for ya!

  • Unsolicited Advice.

  • LOL

    Fucka.

    ;-P

  • Mackenzie & Anakin are gorgeous!!!

    xoxo

    Maddy

  • We think they might be related, but only because Mackenzie's mom was kind of a ho.

  • Was she with Tiger too?

  • The dog from The Brady Bunch??

    ...Probably.

  • And you should see the two comments I deleted!

    GAH!!

  • LOL

Seriously, what the fuck is it with people?

  • My German Shepherd would maul me if I ever tried that.

I sprayed him with a super soaker once and he was so pissed off, so I think water is out of the question now. Even to drink, he prefers Gatorade. ;)

  • A dog that drinks Gatorade? LOL

    I require video proof.

    :-D

  • lol! I've been caught...

  • HA - no matter what you do, you cant dry em all the way! He is a good cooperator!

  • He's the easy one - the other two make so much noise you'd think I was leading them to execution.

(Fortunately I've only ever had to bathe the others once or twice each).

  • It's good to see that you're keeping your pussy clean :D

  • Next episode: I SHAVE IT!

    LULZ

  • I think Basement Cat will have revenge with you.

  • Lolcats pwn all humans!!!!1!!

  • Btw your human friend looks like Wash from Firefly.

  • Oops, I don't think I should have posted my original reply comment. LOL

Anyway... yes. Others have noticed that too.

    :-D

  • Ha ha ha! I can't escape it! LOL

  • I am striving and struggling very hard not to make an indecent comment about the shower head spray on his behind being pleasurable. ROFLL

  • Get a good workout did you, Curt? LOL

  • cats always look so scrawny when wet...

  • Cats the movie was kinda scary too.

    8-O

  • hahaha! (see my tweet)

  • I had a cat that needed regular baths. UGH It was ugly every time.

  • Why am I suddenly picturing you hovered over a bathtub with a fuzzy blurr in front of you, and a musical score pulled from a "Dynasty" fight scene?

  • You're not far off. A lot of name calling, hair pulling and clawing, and that was just warming the water up.

  • Now that is something I would never try to do!

Is he still mad at you? :-)

  • He's pretty resilient. Got over it as soon as I finished toweling him off.

  • Very brave of you. Next time Mackenzie is covered with poop you may want to try baby wipes... (you can get some at the pet shop that are designed for feline use).

  • Yep, tried those. No matter what it is, he tends to have it matted into rock form within minutes.

    Never seen anything like it.

  • I'm down to two cats now, I think we are going to keep these. I plan on a vid soon. but I'm not sure if they will allow me to direct them.

  • Cats rarely take direction. But they're more than happy to give it.

You may have two co-directors there.

(that would make you their assistant director, btw)

  • My cats read the title to this video and ran from the room yelling "oh Sweet Jesus, no, not a bath!" Mine would never let me do that to them. MacKenzie is a beautiful boy. :)

  • Thanks, he is (although I really can't take credit - he does MOST of the hard work on that himself, lol)

  • I wonder why cats hate water. They must know how scrawny they look when wet.

  • It's totally a vanity thing, I agree.

  • Isn't kind of odd to bath a cat!? If I was that puddy tat I would have scratched his face off out of disapproval.

  • check my reply to the last commenter.

  • What an ugly thing to type!!

  • I'm sorry you took it that way, Diana. I wouldn't even consider being 'ugly' on a friend's channel especially not the fabulous, Curt!

Would it have met your approval if I'd have included a well placed LOL?

The first part was merely a question, an enquiry not a confrontation or an accusation of cruelty. I've just never seen anyone bath a cat.

The second part..just saying that if I were in Mackenzie's place I would have scratched like a mofo. Just like my cat would. It wasn't meant literally.

  • Sarah, I confess I took your comment as a slam too. Yours was grouped with other genuinely hateful comments (now deleted) so that helped color things. Guess this proves once again how fallable text-only communication can be.

And with it having been ages since we showed up in each other's comment sections, I assumed a while back that we both unsubbed. Your comment had me thinking there was animosity too.

So I apologize for making assumptions and for the misunderstanding.

  • Dude! Never ever would I say anything to you with ill will.

I'm sorry my comment came across the wrong way. It really wasn't intended. :(

And no.. I never unsubbed. xx

  • Why would you bath a cat /They lick themselves clean...duh !!

  • Some things can't be cured with just standard self grooming, sad to say.

  • Aw, so cute! My cat would never let me do that! :P

  • I'm still not sure mine let ME do this.

    ;-)

  • EeeKk! Why would you wash a cat? Did he have fleas, get sprayed by a skunk? Black cats don't show the dirt! *wink*

  • Yes, they do. HA! But unfortunately some things wind up tracking even if they don't show... if ya get my drift.

  • Well shit, hasn't he heard of toilet paper?

Ah, well I forgive you then. hehe

  • Mackenzie was like putty in your hands the minute the bath was over lol So, did you name Mackenzie after Mackenzie Phillps? Just say yes, it sounds good : p

  • Yep. He was a bundle of wild energy at 6 weeks old when I adopted him, and as he shot across the room for no reason, I asked what he'd been snorting... so, yeah, the name just sorta stuck on him right then and there.

    :-)

(no disrespect meant towards Ms. Phillips, of course).

  • KITTY !!!!!!

    dry kitty is happy kitty.

  • YES!

And wet kitty plots my death as I sleep.
