  • Has any Eskimos that u know ever visited Jamaica? If so what do they think of the climate etc?Do u think the dogs will successfully adapt to live here?

  • I don't suppose they still live in igloos today? If not what type of houses do they live in today? What is everyday life like in this region of the world...first hand account please...

  • @trudyeverlasting im a native alaskan...or SnowNigger...the eskimos are IceNiggers...and i have never in my life seen an the contraption you are talking about...but igloo means house btw

  • my GOD VERY COLD

  • Question do the dogs sleep inside the house or outside in the snow?....Hello from Jamaica

  • @trudyeverlasting outside they have doghouses

  • I wonder how these people first arrived to live in such an inhospitable place where theres nothing to eat but meat and fish

  • you'd have to make a lot of trinkets and hunt a lot of fur to buy an iphone

  • WHY DOES THE NARRATOR SOUND LIKE MOGLI FROM THE JUNGLE BOOK?

  • DUDE YOU ARE AN AMERICAN... THAT MEANS YOU CAN LEAVE ALASKA AND GO TO CALIFORNIA!

  • than a lot, for share this video.

  • Inuit seals make hardly no noise like sea lions!

  • nice docu 5*

  • omg they are so cute!

  • i am 1 14 eskimo and i feel a apart of this video

  • Thank you for posting this video,I enjoyed watching it.

  • Dogs are dying of cold ..they need a home

  • @hargun09 they don't mention in this that at times they ate the dogs

  • @hargun09 I think they are all well dead by now, soo..

  • @Mosquito180

im Inuk and I'm alive...i don't know where you come from another planet? there are many inuit in the world still living

  • @stephaniekootoo I was referring to the dogs, and even if I was referring to the people (not the peoples), I would still be right.

  • Please keep this tradition alive. Greetings and love from Ireland

  • G-wiz....i am hungry now.watching them eat. 4:51

  • They must be expert in very cole area but i wonder why they move there?! lol

  • Native Americans are the REAL AMERICANS, not the "Whites", they claim their from America but they're truly from Europe, UK, etc.

    I like this

  • @kuigilnguq Calm down. Native Americans aren't "Real Americans" too. We came from Russia and Asia. You can only become Americanized. Er, become an American Citizen. Like Australia, America is filled with The European Rejects.

  • @Duderock14 You sound like you have resentment in your heart. If you mean (and I know you do not) that America is filled with many people who rejected Europe then I would say you are correct. But also America is filled with every nationality of this earth. You really need to work on having a beter outlook toward your fellow man.

  • @PeterDad60 Learn to read my other posts before you criticize.

  • If the indians had been better at defending their lands, there would be no white in america now... you can say that its sad and you can say that its betrayal. But the strong wins and the weak dies.. thats the way of life

  • Comment removed

  • Nice video IF you turn the volume down completely; it seems to me the narrator is ''hollywoodizing'' the inuit lifestyle by shooting them this way.

  • LOs Thules =O, Artico de Norteamerica =O , qool, Paleoesquimales

  • i love the crispy sounds of the oven! makes me hungry

  • wtf these guys look mongoloids

  • @XTruth and others such as you act, comment and behave like imbred mongoloids... fair enough... 21 and American, heh, typical, why I'm not surprised by your comment... ¬¬

  • @DocStrange0123 Unless he means they look Mongolian. which they kind of do. otherwise i agree with you.

  • @XTruth siberian natives are closely related to people you see in this movie

  • this is very interesting.

  • Wonderful. Thank you so much for uploading.

  • This documentary although a very americanised vision of Alaska, it is subtle enough to slide away from "americain" (in europe we have the roughly the same culture) stereotypical mythology, especially at the begining and at the end, suprising me evrey time. Thank you very much it is very intresting.

  • One of the best documentaries that I have ever seen, looks like a truly sensible and balanced culture, far more sensible than that of the lower 48.

As for the white supremacy gangs, whites have truly been a plague to man and the earth, if other cultures murdered and enslaved whites as they have done the rest of the world there wouldn't be a single white man left on the planet. No wonder they have such an obsession with security from all of the problems that they have created for themselves.

  • cool looks like a bolt action .30-30 i wanna get one of those

  • I'm an Eskimo and no we dont get offended by being called an Eskimo. We are hard workers and our tradtion must live on even though our new generation provides a lot more than what we use to get back in the days.

  • @ClarissaAlisa

Point Hope. Otherwise known as Tigara. Somewhat notorious. Known as a predatory, warlike tribe during the early nineteenth-century when the Brits first explored the place (HMS Plover, 1820's). Home of Charlie Brower's frenemy, ol' Ottonoruk, (Attungorwah) the ruthless, violent SOB who dominated the local whaling trade in the region during the 1870's-1890's. Then there was that infamous "Gilley" affair of 1877.

  • This was so interesting. Thank you very much.

  • priceless, must never be forgotten

  • Eskimo is rascist. It means Raw meat eaters in the INUIT language. They find this extremeley offencive. This should be called inuit not eskimo

  • @TheFffoithegreat What about the Yupik? or Aleut? You say we should call people by a name taht only applies to one part of the entire peoples.

At the same time, you probably support the calling of anyone who is white Caucasian. When the word means people from Caucasus(A mountain chain near the Black and Caspian sea)

  • This IS MORE LOOK LIKE JAPAN !!!!!!!

  • wow. the hook thing was interesting, definitely some skill in throwing that thing. the fishing looked easy, they just sit there on the beach frozen.

so they have fowl, seal, caribou, and fish for dinner. i'm guessing they don't eat a lot of vegetables.

that little dingy in the ocean looks dangerous, man that water looks cold, you wouldn't last long in it.

i'm thinking without that gun, getting food would be a whole lot harder.

    great video!

  • @tomitstube

For most of history, they had to rely on spears and harpoons

  • @micahgee ~ yeah, that's what's amazing, life had to have been much more dangerous (and way more of a hardship) having to get so close to the food. especially in open space like they are.

  • Funny sound effect, the rifle shot ricocheting on hitting the water!

  • This video is so valuable, it really makes you admire this people. I mean, I complain like a bitch when we reach 35 degrees.

  • Thumbs up, this documentary is priceless.

  • The Narrator is french. Point Hope is close to Barrow Because of global warming, pack snow is becoming hard to find. In the native tongue these people are called Inu'paq or The Real People. Like the Native Americans, Eskimos have different dialects. Inuit that the world are more familiar with have the most melodious dialect. Now a days caribou have become a event to catch. The languages and traditional dance was almost wiped out by the Mormons in the 20's the the 50's.

  • @Duderock14

    The narrator accent is dutch!

  • @virvir900 Sorry...Thank you for the correction

  • @Duderock14 I'm LDS and Alutiiq and have never heard anything towards language and dance being near wiped out because of the church.

  • @hellerZauberer Ever hear of George Ina? He will tell you. The Alutiit language is being spoken by less people each year. I know you speak Aleut. I do not speak my own. Yupik. Like most people in my area i barely know my own language. Chevak had not known their style of dance so they had to borrow from neighboring villages. I know cause my Uppa told me stories and it was collaborated by his brother and sister in law and their first cousin. Maybe you heard of their cousin. Joe Chief Jr.

  • @hellerZauberer My dad had the Yupik beaten out of him when he went to school. When ever he spoke his language he had his hands slapped with a ruler...across the knuckles too. I had that done to me when I was in school, but not for speaking my tongue. My dad heard about this and he left work to deal with the principle immediately. Later he told me of how he got his hands slapped. How his dad and his brother and sister in law, brought back dance to our area.

  • @hellerZauberer watch?v=0CaB9To-sc0 check this video out. My grand parents told me stories of how they brought the dancing back to our region. I have no reason to believe that they would lie to me. About 2 minutes and 35 seconds into the video it says"...In some places even the dancing stopped..."that's because the missionaries brought religion to replace it. I am related to the original Bethel Native Dancers. Dan Charles, Nick Charles, Elena Charles and Joe Chief Jr.

  • @Duderock14 Nope; the narrator is from Iceland. Like the way you said that so definitively though ;)

  • @traincrashcalum Sorry my bad. I wouldn't know them from Adam. Thank you for the correction. And Thank you for your reply.

  • @Duderock14 Are you kidding me! Really? You have to be? First you are wrong about the Mormon comment! I think you are confused or are not from Alaska! Being that I am, you are wrong. Look up Russian Orthodox Church, and the impact it had on the Yuipik, Inuit, and the Inupiat. Unlike the Native Americans in the lower 48 all the Esikmo tribes listed are not from Alaska. They are from Mongolia, Serbia and Russia. They migrated just like our ancestors. One word for your comment "ignorant".

  • @sillyjoe10 Are you white? have you migrated to Alaska? I never claimed that Alaskans were planted there by god or Darwin or what ever you believed in. Anyone who has been to school knows that all of the north American natives migrated across the Bering straight, that includes the North American Indians. I was a patron of the Orthodox church and they are conceded as any other religion. I am from Alaska, born and raised. watch this vid. it is on youtube watch?v=0CaB9To-sc0

  • Point hope knew more then 100 words for "snow"... The DivineNucleus also had more then 100 words for "Collin", the plan of life. Hunting is also a way of life, 3:05 Killing flawed logic patterns is a way of earning respect. Upholding family values and defending the children brings virtue and, what humans would call finances, in the form of karmic weight, if the child is not safe, the karmic weight becomes tainted and it makes a mark our people can see, this is the shame. --

  • fascinating movie, wonder how they hunted before guns though.

  • @mymusoke

    harpoon and spears?

  • @mymusoke with spears, bow and arrow, spear throwers and rock throwers.

  • I Bet The Boy At 18:55 - 19:01 Is Like Yeah, Check Out My Awesome Moves Bitch! I Can Dance And The Ladies Are Loving My Moves Baby Oooohh Yeah I'm Awesome XD.

  • Great video. İt's very interesting how this poeple lived.

  • this film would give liberals a heart attack.

  • look on google maps at point hope, alaska now. alaska was a territory until 1959. this movie sounds like a propaganda flick to sell the natives goods. they were better off until we showed up and made it a state. I live in fairbanks. and see what (some) natives are like in a big cities, no offence.

  • they should learn to sashimi that fish to get every bit of meat outta that thing

  • @alkafx i am sure that we know more about r own food n how 2 prepare it than some outsider

  • @TheTeenutz I'm glad our people don't eat like you

  • that is one of the most hardcore lifestyles i have ever heard of.

  • @ichibanhahn ty its a pure way of life, no pollution or wastage of any kind

  • before " the white " came, there was Eskimos,Pueblos,Red Indians and other indigenous tribes ...

but after " the white " came ,the world never heard about them anymore...they lost their lands and they're hunted and hiding from white supremacy gangs

  • @rick86caca Psh, my family isn't hiding from anybody.

  • @rick86caca There has always got to be some one come along and make some innocent and noble scene a racial issue . Of course the white man is always the bad guy . Not once did I hear any derogatory comments towards white people made by the narrator . But no . There is something evil and rotton hear and the white man is at the route of it . These people appeared very content with a few extra comforts provided by white people .

  • @LuluRosenkrantz North America was just fine the way it was before "the White" came. But no, "the White" came and raped, pillaged, massacred, and destroyed the indigenous peoples land without mercy and even today, the Indians are stereotyped and hunted by white supremacy groups. Fighting terrorism since 1492. One day "the White" will pay.

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 Well I guess us white people are just the lowest form of life . We are just cruel and selfish and greedy . We rape and pillage and destroy everything in our path .We show no mercy . The world will be a better place when all us white people are exterminated from the face of the earth .

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 By the way what are you doing behind a white mans invention called the computer and the internet ? Have nothing to do with anything the white man has to offer . Return to your native routes . Take up the bow and the tomahawk . Loaf in a tipi and smoke the peace pipe . Plot murder and mayhem against the neighboring tribe . Beat up your wife and order her to fetch the wood and the water .

  • @LuluRosenkrantz The computer would not have been invented if not for the calculator, which the white man did not invent. Also, why are you living on occupied Indian territory? Why are you enjoying the luxuries this land has to offer you? Go back to your redneck routes and join the KKK, the minutemen, and skinhead rally's in the deep south with your hillbilly sister.

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 Who invented the calculator ? Actually it was a white man that developed transistor technology which is fundamental to computor technology . Boolian algebra was proposed by a white man which is the fundamental of Binary counting. Binary counting is the language of computor,s .

Who gives you the right to the land you live in.Just because you invaded a land a few years before white man arrived does not give you the right to that land . Why don't you go back home .

  • @LuluRosenkrantz The indians were the first people to settle in this land, therefor it belongs to them, they didn't invade shit. It's one thing for "the Whites" to come here and live, and it's another for "the Whites" to come here and Rape, pillage, Destroy, and kill Indian peoples and their ALREADY established land. The white man didn't invent everything, faucets = black man, Calculator = Asia (Abacus), Gunpowder = Asia, Canoes and advanced agriculture = Native Americans.

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 The Indians were not the first to settle the Americas . The Aztects and Incas were . The Indians invaded the Americas from Asia .Tribes such as the Sioux were constantly at war with the Crow . The Cheyene were contantly at war with the Pawnee . The Indians were raping , theiving , murdering no hopers whose sole contribution to mankind was smoking tobacco . Indians invented nothing not even the bow .A bunch of no hoper retrograde , wife bashing , raping scum bags .

  • @LuluRosenkrantz You're an idiot. The first people to come to this land were the Paleo Indians, who are the ancestors of both the indigenous peoples of the North and South, Incas and Aztecs included, you redneck.

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 I first visited this clip to enjoy something free of politics and race . An innocent clip of eskimos adapting to a changing world . There was not one mention of race or politics spoken in this story . It is only low life scum bags such as yourself , and those that give you the thumbs up that turn something beautiful into something ugly . You wonder why this world is such a mess .

  • @LuluRosenkrantz This country is only a mess because of the Europeans. I'm a scumbag? What about your KKK, Neo Nazi, and minuteman groups? Go bring your hate speech to the appropriate White supremacy forums.

  • @ZacharyGriffin1990 Porn was invented by whites and its the best invention ever

  • @theburdcotter yer gay

  • @Duderock14 that would explain my sore ass !

  • Comment removed

  • @rick86caca . Bullshit. Whites this and whites that , for a start , America was colonised by latinos. Unfotunatley for the red indians the whites showed up too late in the game to save any.

  • @rick86caca yup but my grandma long ago told me of white men were quite generous and this was in wainwright.my village did not move because the white men were fed by us and they loved our meat and just moved on.but we also were awfully treated by some white folk and most russians.

  • I love the Pinay narrator! ; -)

  • The "trading post". WOW!

  • @themightyscythe I would imagine they are in fact much more in tune with the values of life than the average farm raised sheeple.

  • always though these crafty bastards lived in igloos

  • "alaska is a territory of the united states..." lol

  • @JacobyJenkins

??.....Alaska is the largest state in the United States by area.

  • @jumpdance24 this video was made when it was a territory. they say "alaska is one of the biggest territories in the united states" in the video

  • dam he is good with that hook!

  • NICE VIDEO

  • this is amazing.. thank you for uploading

  • Aha...a pity that they complain about living like a white man...look whos talking(inuit)...nowa days us white people wont give a fuck if you guys go back into your so called snow homes!

  • Wow no roads (in the snow), no man made signs, no maps and these guys go hunting for miles and still make it back home, now that is a great accomplishment! Simply Amazing!

  • 10:59pm Thursday (AKST) - Time in Alaska, United States of America

  • What a great anthopological footage!

I wonder if there are people living like that after 60 years?

  • If you would all stop assuming more than what I have stated and stop spouting out your insecurities and prejudice, you would realise that I deeply respect the inuit and their way of life in the past! We live in 21st century. Whales are fast becoming an extinct species. Life for the inuit people HAS changed today. They have embraced the changes and welcomed them. Why are you so against progress for people who have chosen to accept it! If it was up to you we would be living in medieval times!

  • @susan2016 why would you want them to change when 75% of the people in the villages are unemployed? and for those with no job how can they pay for their food when they pay rediculous prices for a loaf of bread which is like 5 dollars for one loaf.

  • Something very interesting about the Inuit is that they are able to live on an almost all meat and fish diet with out having any heart disease or any of the common diseases associated with such a diet

  • @themightyscythe ....want to put you in the middle of nowhere, leave you and then ....now what?....the nearest Morse code transmitter is in the USA back then, tv was brand new just barely reaching Canada itself....and ...and...believe "internet" was taboo back then....you are not an "idiot" but and "idi-ette".

  • I lived in America all my life an have never met an Eskimo. They are native people of America too but we never hear much about them. We only hear about the plains indians on the land without the cold weather. Its funny they are safe in their own world. Most Americans wouldn't think of going up their and living their lives in Northern Alaska its too cold.

  • how do they eat vegetables?

  • @Noobssuckass300 I have only heart of Eskimos picking berries in the summertime.. maybe they would have also picked various plants. But, even if they didn't eat veggies whatosever, it wouldn't be a problem. You can get all your vitamins from eating meat (esp. organ meat like liver, eyes, heart, etc).

  • This was filmed in that time.it is the boy telling the story after he was forced to learn english. The first people of that area are prisoners and have been of the governments for a long time. They did things different in the past. All first people came from the same Great Spirit.

  • My grandparents did not have a frickken wooden igloo. I know the igloo is made over the wood, but that is so fckn fake. My grandparents were just in plain igloo. I just don't like how the inside is built and FAKE!

  • @skooltech it's called a "sod-house" it's not fake, just more a little bit of modern mixed with culture.. we all adapt to the living arraignments..

  • they need those big ushankas

  • that would be awesome to live like that!

  • Ok Then It Must Have Been After The united states already had influenced These Peoples then. I Am Sorry My Mistake.I Am Trying To Learn As Well As Bring The Truth To Light About dictatorships and governments based on slavery through money and other things. -Peace To You

  • wow eskimos are real

  • The lifestyle depicted here isn't the 'natural lifestyle' of the original Eskimo.. notice the gun, the wooden house, and western foods?

  • @Briankozmo of course. its the result of cultural diffusion

  • These people were hunter gathers is what I hear. Not hunters and not eskimos.Inuit is what they are called.I can't believe this video as it is what others have obviously made to show something in a wrong light.

  • @whattheheckevr this is actually accurately representing the era - although staged of course - but accurate.

  • @NorthernMostTours To NorthernMostTours you Should Check Out The video Called - THE EXPIRAMENTAL ESKIMOS trailer - It Talks About canadian government who I Believe is similar to the united states government? -Peace To You

  • @gvenema

That sounds like Danny Bravo, who did the voice of Hadji in "Jonny Quest". But he was born in 1948 while this thing was filmed in 1949. Could the voice-over have been plugged in years later?

  • Documentary from the point of view of the subject... so refreshing to not have to see the world through white male eyes.

  • some badass hunters

  • @Shottaz505 yeah, I agree with ya!

  • eskimos are asians, they walked across the ice bridge that connected asia to the americas...but gradually as some branch off and travel south they no longer looked like asians, and they would be the indians and mayans!!!.......i love the eskimo culture

  • @FullBloodedHmoob Aerican Indian and Japanese look a lot alike.

  • me too

  • @FullBloodedHmoob they are from france and so are native american indians -the native americans were basically inuits from france during the ice age

  • @mattommojack where did u get ur info from cause inuit ppl come from Mongolia

  • @TheTeenutz i watched a documentary about neanderthals and homosapians and they linked native american indians to france in the ice age and the indians were like eskimos at that time my mistake though because there is no link to modern day inuits and native americans or france just that the indians were very much the same in the ice age because of climate i suppose - sorry my mistake

  • jfiespjfsdifjdsifj...qipannamiahuqtut the qablunaat.

  • @Aqigaaq hey i know what qablunaat means is it white man? here we say qassaq or something like that

  • why do Eskimos look like Asians??

  • well y cant ytps be this long? >:(

  • my people!(im only 4th eskimo tho)

  • This is a cool video

  • Sorry but winter IS OVER 8 MONTHS NOT 6

  • Wow such a beautiful way of life. Makes you wish you lived in a different place and time.

  • Someone said they would offer their wives as a gift of hospitality. I just can't imagine how that would have played out, and the aftermath of such an experience, and its effects on their own intimacy. Did they also offer thir daughters?

  • Thank you so much for this video... it was very helpful in my research! Have any more?

  • great story of man's respect for nature. thank you

  • Funny how non-Inuit people always has an opinion or two about our culture. I never say out loudly(or write) my opinion about other people. That would be disrespect.... And can I please tell that there are many kind of Inuits? In Greenland, we dont hunt like these guys. And back then, it was popular to produce this kind of "informercials"/Informativ short movies about Indeginous people in such a obvious way....

  • man i've always wanted to live like an eskimo but now that i look at it i feel that it would be way out of my league

  • You can really see how western peoples have changed their way of living. How would they catch the seals from shore if they never taraded for guns?

  • Hardcore! You got to respect them

  • love the video.thanks for uploading.

  • This is Real Lifee

  • the wife and kids can actualy just stay home because they dont do anything but watch

  • Lol, things have changed a lot since 1949. Hmm, two bullets for a Caribou...not the usual way for the killing. This movie was probably intended for young audience.

  • yes if intelect has anything to do with survival you dumb ass

  • love this film love how other peoples live , we have it easy in the uk, but i myself love to live of the land...wonder how most people would survive in the uk , if we just didnt have oil or fuel...that whats keeping britain going , getting things to the shops etc ...

  • fantastic video, a history lesson for all of us...

  • Thank you so much, that is indeed a treasure.

  • @ sarabuffalo1--that aint a dog smarty, thats a damn seal

  • I love this video so much. Thank you for posting it!

  • @beanobombay

I especially love the kid's French accent.

  • i love and respect all cultures , we the in the modern society, tend to feed ourselves with rubbish junk foods , which causes cancers, and high heart diseases etc ..the eskimos have got there priorities right i think , and im british ..well done to the eskimo culture...would love to live there way for a while , but id take any advice from them, other wise, i would soon perish in a hostile and isolated enviroment..

  • those dogs are not barking, nor would they. sounds like a dub in...

  • agree with you.. just like in the movie the gods must be crazy, the narrator said... while bush men are happy, have simple life and contented with no sense of ownership, the modern civilization invest on modern things that ease the way of life but made their lives complicated. just like children who spent more time studying the complexity of science or mathematics in order to survive themselves and fit in the modern difficult world than just enjoy life as a free person.

  • Wonderfull people, the eskimo. ill take dry fish, and seal anyday over some pizza and soda.
