whats the point of doing it in 4K? Not like we dont have billions of bytes of memory. What would really be impressive is to have 4k run in parallel in realtime.
If you appreciate the idea of artists working under incredibly restrictive constraints, like writing a readable novel without using the letter 'e' or 'u' anywhere, that's approximately the scale of what these guys are doing.
They're constraining themselves to only using 4 kilobytes characters to program this animation. This is ridiculously small. To put it in perspectively, a typical MP3 file is at least one hundred times larger than four kilobytes.
Hmm, what if they made a 4 KB 3D Game? That would be AMAZING!

@computerfreaq17 Well, .kkrieger is 96 KB, but it still made a pretty big splash in the community, seeing as it has Doom 3-level graphics.

It's a tradition in demoscene to do things in sizes like 256b, 512b, 1k, 2k, 4k, 16k, 64k, 96k and most other powers of two.

Not being a tech guy, I don't see what the fuzz is about...

The program is only 4 kilobytes big. If you don't know what that means... you don't.
Gameboygenius 2 years ago 12
The actual Pixar intro is probably megabytes upon megabytes big.

the art of demos is about how to use codes only to make thing works impossible on its hardware. And also procedural generated the program.
Disney does stuff use lots of soft and hardware while demos is opposite.
