  • god i remember that sound all too well, i ran a quiet mod just because of testing. or lack of where you can with a piped mod. what boad (B&H, Kylard, ect.)

  • Yup! even though this was shot with a little pocket digital camera for which movies are a secondary feature.....the noise came out ok! What a hoot! Did you listen to the noise for the expansion chamber motor fired up first time in the driveway? should be here somewhere.

  • It sounds better in person, I grew up with this sound...brings a tear to my eye and a chill done my spine

  • I thnk knots are mph/1.15 or so, so maybe take 85 mph / 1.15 = 74kts?

  • Knots?

  • @larshenrik91

idk about knots but these run in the 80's! (mph)

  • SHITT! its sound nice :D do you know what rpm the engine has on the movie?

  • I dunno 'cause we don't have a tach working yet. I've heard of people running these at over 8000rpm, but this rpm might be something a little under that. 4cyl 2-stroke.

  • sorry i mean't what size?

  • Hi! It's a 44 cu in (Merc 500 / Mark58A) 4cyl that has been ported, with megaphone exhausts. Typical stock applications for this powerhead were in the 45-50hp range. With mods like this, mebbe 65hp? you can see more of this nutso stuff on my site - search for unkiemotorhead's skunkworkz. Find the 9/07 SaltSprings page unkie

  • what motor is on the back of that? sounds lovely!!

  • Love that sound! Thanks for posting!

  • Yeah, that's the point I guess. :o) too scary to race, but a hoot to drive!
