and you are right: the elevators are pretty synthy to begin with. that's why i picked them. i'm fairly new to the world of sound design, and i wanted to start with a set of samples that i could easily practice with.

now that i'm more comfortable working with straight-forward samples, i'll try to challenge myself more with whatever i work on next. :)

@elementblue780 i'm not sure what speakers/headphones you're using, but the so-called "barely audible" elevator sounds are coming through loud and clear on my end. in fact, the elevator sounds are even the first and last things you hear, so you might want to check your audio settings. :P
