  • I Love these Diesel's and 4109! i like thoese ones better then the other ones btw nice video!

  • Is the PL42, just the diesel version of the ALP-46? What type of car/name or model, is the 1st, and last, 4th car in this video?

  • All of the passenger cars on the train are called Comet 5's.

    Eric

  • Nice to see a consist of all comet V's here around trenton the mix them with the

    IV's and III's

  • @xdaftpunkedx At least you guys get the double-deckers, too! These Spring Valley Line trains are a mix of Comet III, IV, and V and I really don't like the older cars.

  • I can't wait to see it or ride it

  • Which line is this? I have a feeling that it's the Pascack Valley Line because that train left from track H and most trains to Spring Valley leave from track H. Also, there were only 4 cars. Most Pascack Valley Line trains are short.

  • @trainriders1031 You're right. It's a Pascack Valley Line Train. Although SOME trains (the 7:15 out of Spring Valley in the morning and the 5:35 in the evening) have up to 6 cars.

  • True

  • i had 4011 yesterday

  • the 2nd car by the front has an MTA sign on it anyone else see that?

  • On the NJ Transit routes out of Hoboken Terminal 2 routes go to New York Sate on Metro-North Tracks. To show NJ Transit and Metro-North share the routes in NY State NJ Transit has painted some locomotives and passenger cars in Metro-North Paint.

  • I guess this is the closest to a Genesis locomotive NJT will ever get to? or will the P40DC be like the amtrak Genesis?

  • the P40 is the former Amtrak Genesis, the first one that was retired since the P42DC order.

  • yes. ive seen one of njt's p40s

  • is it true that nj transit might release P32AC-DM's.

  • I'm not sure about that. But I know that NJ Transit has leased 5 P40DC Genesis locomotives from Amtrak.

  • thanks for commenting

  • oh yeah did you know njt owns a F59PHI

  • F59PHI???! yeah right! The Old GP40FH-2s were rebuilt into GP20s. ONly some FHs still remain

  • well i think it's just owned by NJTA, they had GP40TCs and the old FL9s, I don't know where they keep there stuff

  • i heard one day that njt will release P32AC-DM's

  • lol o,ok thanks for i hope didn't question you to death

  • Don't worry you didn't.

  • I kno your probably getting tired of my mouth already??? but one more question lol, since every commuter train connects each other on the north east corrider to the next state, How come metro north trains can't b at penn station so people can catch da next commuter to new haven why they gotta go all the way to grand central station, I mean i know certain diesel metro north locomotive trains are able to can come to penn station but those metro north locomotive have a different third rail shoe

  • Like I said I'm not familiar with Metro-North's operations in New York State.

  • lol another question you know how every commuter train on the north east corrider Line connects to each like septa/to/new jersey transit, new jersey transit/to/Metro North, Metro north/to/shore line east, and Shore line/to/Mbta toward boston, how come septa can't connect with Marc or something since thats like the next commuter line going towards Washington?

  • Duhhh!!!!! ofcourse Lol im sorry im slow at times but wait your answer just gave me another question since when Metro North trains came into penn station i thought they terminate at grand central station, another question, wouldn't it be hard for metro north trains to come into penn station since they have a different type third rail from?

  • I'm not really familiar with Metro-North's railroad operation's except for the West of Hudson Service which is the NJT/Metro-North pool agreement out of Hoboken Terminal so I wouldn't be the best person to answer that question.

  • There are plans in the works to open up the west side tunnel which amtrak uses on its empire and maple leaf services to metro-north operations along the hudson line. These plans would involve 3rd rail to be installed along the length underground, and dual mode locomotives to be used when entering penn station.

  • This would only work if the east side access project were completed, and expansion of the current penn station took place, as new york penn station is actually more than 2x as busy than grand central terminal, though the east side access project would take some traffic away from NYP, this would only be people going to/from long island for the most part, and wouldn't affect people coming from the port jervis or passaic metro north lines, or the NJT lines.

  • If/when the east side access, THE tunnel, and other projects relating to penn station and the lines it serves are completed there will most likely be a rise in newer dual mode traction units, be it diesel/catenary, or diesel/3rd rail etc. They could even have a train from Montauk to Trenton at that point if they wanted. I am sure there will be such proposals, all we can do is wait and stay informed.

  • just to ask how come diesel locomotives can run on the north east corridor from any agencie like LIRR, NEW JERSEY TRANSIT or even Amtrak but when coming to Penn station New york they you don't see them just electric loco's

  • Diesel locomotives on the Northeast Corridor are prohibited from entering the Hudson River tunnels due to pollution laws. certain LIRR and Metro-North locomotives can use a third rail to power the trains so they can enter NY Penn Station.

  • first PL42AC train w/o any Comet Is, neat

  • id like tosee those on the atlantic city line.

  • my cousin takes that train everyday

  • hopefully the pl42ac's will come to the NJCL soon

  • I would think they would. NJ Transit Engineers are pickey about using these locomotives.

  • really? any specific reason

  • I heard that they are always breaking down due to computer crashes.

  • they will as soon as alstom fixes all the bugs on the pl42ac's.number 4027 has been shoped.amtrak will not allow them on the NEC due to the fact that if one were to break down on the NEC, that would cause a huge bottleneck on the whole NJT,and AMTRAK systems

  • Sweet!
