  • My mom had this single when I was growing up and I loved it. Just plain old down home country with a swing! Awesome song. I also liked the flip side of this single, but can't remember the name of it. Can anybody help me out?

  • Junping Bill ,neck name thelongshot11

  • Rcksalt, I love all of the classic music I've seen posted, I [we] can't see everything at once, it's nice to know that others are discovering or rediscovering this tune, well done.

  • Man I love this song!!

  • Rcksalt - I'da given you 10 thumbs up, but youtube would only let me give one :(

You are SO right though - And I love All kinds of music, but these folks were extremely talented.. and basically wrote the book on the concept, cause noone had ever done it before them - they paved the way.

You can bet that Bill Carlisle never stood before an audience and cried cause he'd forgotten the words, complaining that he had a rough week. (jsimpson) They were STARS and acted like it.

    Great stuff!

  • Well brother, I prreciatte the 1 star. Know the saddest part of it all? 6 months later, still only 4600 folk sen this video. What a shame. I recken we really are the blessed few.

  • is the flip side to [many dollars not enough] sense. thanks for posting

  • A million dollar studio.

    10 ppl playing and singing.

Enough equipment to mix 25 parts.

14 different types of music engineers.

a 10 million budget and promo package.

Add it all up and it isnt as close as a Kazoo, Guitar, Bass, and a few singers. Why did the latter work? TALENT!

  • This great talent you won't find today with the buble gummers and body tatooers. I think appreciation for talent like this has waned.

  • @flashbell There is plenty of talent, it's just the waste get's shown on the television, Trust me there is talent but the media would rather play crap. There is plenty of talented musicians, singers, producers etc though. shame they don't get noticed or they do but the media won't play them.

  • @flashbell

    very true

  • There was a doowop version of this as well. It was by r&b group The Crows. Came out about a year after Bill and The Carlisles.

  • Like this!

But I was 3 years old then!

  • This was always a favorite of mine -- full of great Chet Atkins licks. (he was bootleggin') A friend of mine said it was Roy Sneed, but nobody plays like Chet.

  • Chet on guitar with old pal Ernie Newton providing the excellent upright bass backing

  • When I think of the hours I spent learning these licks!! Makes me resonate like crazy! (His records were hard to find back then -- 1955 or so)

  • Also a pretty good cover done by Red Foley & Ernest Tubb around the same time

  • Yes, I also have that one :)

  • You`re right. Nobody played like Chet.

He played for, then later backed the carlisles

    as a session guitarist.

  • They do not make music like this anymore! Everytime I hear this song I think of my late aunt becuse it was here favorite song!
