Modern smokeless gun powder is a propellent it has a burn rate. It has to be contained to increase pressure to fire a bullet.

Black Powder is an explosive. These guys are using black powder.

gun powder CAN explode if it is kept in a sealed container like in a bullet or a barrel. But yes, gunpowder does not explode n its own.

uhm gun powder is very explosive hence the anvil launching. you are talking about propellant which is what is used today in place of black powder, or gun powder. But thanks for playing
