@jasonflood29 It is amazing.....The thing that really gets me, is you can tell they all really dig this tune-and have for a long time. They were probably friends with Clarence Clemons and this is a great way to tribute the man. A kickass heartfelt rendition of "Thunder Road"
a tribute to the late great Danny Federici too - Page nails it. And I love the lick Trey does after "...I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk"
Trey has said what a big influence Bruce and the ESB was on him - he said after one of his first time seeing them, he thought all concerts were supposed to be that long! I am certain there was an influence of BS & the ESB on Phish.
God I miss The BIg Man. RIP Clarence, hope you are jammin' with Jerry!
Quit talking about who'd exist without who! This is just a tribute from one musician to another. Clarence has been a huge influence on a lot of people. I've seen many bands in my time, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Stones, Eagles... But the E Street Band is by far the best live band there is. Even though they might not love every night on stage, they give the fans everything they have. RIP Big Man.
Thanks for recording and sharing this. I am a HUGE Springteen & E Street Band fan as well as a HUGE Phish fan, so it's nice to see the convergence of the two. Classy move by the band paying tribute to Clarence and having the balls to try something they had never played. Do you have Trey's short acknowledgement after the song? If not, no worries.
Phish SOUND.. great.... i first heard the AUDIO... wasnt sure if THE BOSS was possibly guest singing... then I found this posting.... THANKS... for sharing..... GREAT Cover...
@platoplates I'm a tremendous fan, having see both dozens of times, but this is one of those instances where the "they wouldn't exist without" claim is totally misplaced. I don't think Bruce/E Street had a major influence - or even a minor one - on Phish. You might as well be sayiing that the Zeppelin wouldn't exist without Elvis.
what a special show

This was amazing! Especiallly because my father raised me on the Boss, and to hear my favorite band play this on fathers day, was a great moment.
