@DrFurious1, Agreed the tears are effective for the performance, but tears don't just fall on cue. They are evoked by emotion. Obviously you are not a singer or you'd know that to hit those notes you have to have passion, otherwise they'd fall flat. It's not mechanical. Only people who are deeply loved and have hurt that love can feel the quilt that would evoke such tears.

@FlyyGryl - No I am not a singer, I am a doctor, but my brother works for Warner Bros music and so I get a chance to see then inside of the music business. As a doctor I can that crying is a result of stimulation of the autonomic nervous system. Over time a person can learn to control that stimulation in a positive or negative manner, increasing or decreasing the instances of crying. She has simply learned to increase the stimulation at a specific time. That is how actors cry on que.

There are also tricks to the trade where they will put a substance on the bottom eyelid and with increased blinking it begins to irritate the eyes and they then water.

It is very unlikely that she happens to become emotionally overwhelmed at the same time each time she sings this song. Emotions are not that predictable.

2. It is a PERFORMANCE and in this Performance she begins to cry early in the second verse like she does every time she PERFORMS it.

There is a significant difference in the tears that she schedules to shed during this song night after night and the tears they may come from someone who just lost a loved one.
