I agree! This song just changes any negative feelings I have into positive and good feeling. No matter what brings the feeling on, no matter the low. I just listen and remember to go on!
I'm 16, and ever since I can remember I have been living in the 50's - 90's, this music rocks, and what people call "music" today could never compare to the music back then, love it so much :D
This song has helped me get straight. I listen to it several times a day. I think Doug Bennett is singing about the same thing. I would have liked to meet him, or at least see him perform.
This has to be the most inspirational song I have EVER heard.
I heard it one day on the radio when I was gong through one of the darkest moments of my life. Evertime I feel myself fading, I come back to this song and it gives me hope.
How could you dislike this song? Doug & the Slugs were my favorite band growing up and even now still hold a special place in my heart. R.I.P. Doug Bennett.

@terryandgwen good for you!!! sorry for your loss.....on another note, this song would be good in a movie soundtrack....i could see Adam Sandler or Seth Rogan using this in amovie.....
Saw Doug in Inuvik NWT on May long weekend beer gardens...what a show what a guy was working security with the promoter and got to party with them afterwards. RIP Doug...Simon Kendall is a great guy too...Thanks guys...
I saw Doug and crew at Rock in the Valley in Craven Saskatchewan . The main stage shut down for the night and they wer playin the beer garden. What happened that night I will never forget. Doug had the crowd in his hands playin day by day the whole crowd sang the words the band stopped playin and we sung that song to the point that doug said he had in all his years never heard a crowd go off like that! I allso remember alot of women showin tits!! Doug you wer a one of a kind thanks RIP BRO!!!!!
Boy, the things I learn from reading from fellow Canadians (I'm from Truro, Nova Scotia). Yeah, Doug Bennett was a rock musician we Canadians can be proud of. And speaking of personal experiences..... I never met the man but my dad, who is an RCMP police officer who works mostly highway patrol shifts, once stopped Doug!!!!! He was either speeding, driving under the influence, or just a simple unbuckled seat belt; still a celebrity brush-with-the-law from my dad!
I'm so glad I met Doug when he was still alive...he lived around my area in Vancouver and I would see him rent videos with his family and other stuff...I even had to call him up to ask him to pay a bill he owed the company I worked for at the time...classy guy...RIP.
i once worked security in a bar in Alberta where we had booked doug.I got roped into helping the crew unload the gear down a steep flight of stairs and up onto the stage.Doug came over and invited us backstage for free beer and munchies..it was there he gave us black ball caps with their name on it..shook our hands again and thanked us..I'll never forget the man..May he rest in peace.
I saw Doug in concert in Vancouver a while before he died. Great show. He was so down to earth. He wandered around in the audience while he sang and wrapped his arm around me while he sung this one. Cool guy and awesome song.
in the summer of 1994 i was a taxi driver in moncton, new brunswick and i picked up doug and the bass player and the drummer at took them to their gig at chevys.
Doug and The Slugs rock. Sucks Doug died :( But thanks for the video to bring back the memory of a great music group. They should of done a music video of Tomcat Prowl.
They were good...was checking out some Northern Pikes, Neoa4, D.O.A., Does anybody has some " After ALL" late 80's canadian band ..one entirely great album.
The Slugs had a great song called "Moondog Howl". I've never seen it on You Tube. Does anyone have this one? If so, could you post it. it was one of the band's best songs.
In 1984 I hired The Slugs to do a concert at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom, it was for a dance for put on by Engineering Department of BCIT, I was Student Pres. of the Mechanical Eng. Dept. I got to meet Doug and the band, between sets. I still remember the meeting as vividly as if it was 1 year ago. I still have the T-Shirt Doug & the band gave me.
I saw Doug many times - last was Hard Rock in Toronto just weeks before he passed. He was obviously in distress but still funny as hell. Best concert was at LuLu's - he loved the venue - lots of tables and rails to dance on. I miss the Slugs every day.
I've never heard the cause, just that he fell ill on the drive between shows out west. When I saw him at Hard Rock a few weeks earlier, he was walking with a cane and obviously not well at all. He even struggled with his own lyrics but was still very much Doug Bennett. I thought at the time that it must be his last tour. It was my pleasure to shake his hand that night and thank him for all the great music he'd made since I first heard him in 1973. He's still my favourite musician.
Ahh the Misty Moon on Barrington St in Halifax. I remember seeing Doug and the Slugs there but we were underage in Halifax summer '88 looking for apartments for 1st year at Dal, and we we stood outside the Moon and listened to these guys for a good 45min or so. Remember the Moon would take out their big front windows in the summertime so you could look in and listen....good times, good times. Only time I "saw" this band unfortunately.
One of the best bands to come out of Canada in their era. Never saw them live but wished I could've, even though I was very young when they were in their heyday.

I spent a lot of time at their house as a little girl. Until my family moved to halifax.

An astounding sound, by an underappreciated band.

I saw these guys in Trenton Ontario in 1987. I was a little wasted and Doug used his fingers to open my eyes. lol. What a great bar band.

Thanks for the vid upload. I, too forgot how good a band they were. T&A is not needed to make a GREAT video

I've seen Doug and the boys perform many times during the 80's and 90's. I will miss them. Very difficult to find his CD's (may be held in estate redtape). Thanks for this video!
