  • Before walmart there was Kmart.I remember there used to be about 5 kmarts in the surrounding area I grew up in.Now theres only 2.And there only open to compete with walmarts that are next door to them.the stores interiors are horribly dated and disorganized.maybe if thet reinvent themselves they can compete

  • @wyattjameson Oh I didn't know that

  • Oh wow! Still looks the same! LOL

  • @thomesocksup Lol mine did till last year when the finally update the looks of it

  • '

yes i am sorry for kmart is closed slowing down out of business,,,

because target and walmart ruins kmart

  • i like kmart bit they dont have a good selection of legos lol

  • 0:26 a chain saw..........realy??

  • K-Mart is a horrible store. Becoming partners with Sears has not really helped K-Mart at all. I hate to say it, but a majority of K-Mart stores have a dated look inside.

  • wish we had something like this in the UK. closest thing we have is woolworths and even half of them are being closed. =(

  • @kacysparrow So are you saying that some Woolworths are still open?? Man I've got to come there. I miss it and havent been in for 25 years since they closed in Michigan USA

  • yeh theres like one or two still open but thats all now =(

  • For what their worth these days,i'm glad Kmart is still in existence. But..for how much longer I wonder? A Kmart over in South Point OH.just closed down, sad.

  • kmart....last of the mohegans!!!!

  • Screw Wal-Mart! Hope K-mart survives!

  • During this horrible economy, at Least Kmarts surviving so far since 2002 when bunch of them including all Texas locations closed, Cannot believe that now its survived after Circuit City, Some of Office Depots, Linens n Things closures.

  • All major Texas locations were closed like in San Antonio and Austin but Laredo and Killen still have Big Kmarts lol

  • Yes, qwandiddy is correct. The beginning of the video says, "Copyright 1986 Kmart Corp."

  • 0:26.

    Don't hurt me...

  • actually my bad it's more like 0:27

  • Im a sales and service associate at an ohio kmart, it seems like kmart is doing okay every support kmart!!!

  • Wow; this brings back so many memories. Shopping with mom at Kmart back in 1986 when I was just a kid. We bought everything from Kmart; and had lunch in the K-Cafe!

This is a great commercial for what I still think is a great store. They've struggled, but I have faith they can pull through. Kmart is still MY favorite store and MY savings place!

  • And cleaner and more friendly, Walmart is poor, disgusting, P.O.S. items that doesnt last, disrespecful guest services.

  • qwandiddy: I think it depends on which Wal*Mart you go to. There's a very nice one just up from my new job in Pewaukee, WI, and their stuff actually lasts. I'm not a huge discount convenience store fan, but I go there when I need to, and I've found they have pretty good stuff.

  • Same here with our Kmarts in Orlando - far as I know, we only have, like, 2 that I know of (that ain't that clean) and we haven't gotten any new Kmarts here in years!

  • yeah theres one like on Semoran or something. But the one near where I lived is now a burlington coat factory and the only other one I knew of out on Aloma went to crap. Basically Target and Wal-Mart blew Kmart to smitherines.

  • So true. And for the record, the other Kmart is right by Universal.

  • @MiltownPunkette21 Just stay away from Walmarts in Chicago area. they are terrible.

  • @qwandiddy-Ha! Will do! ;)

  • @MiltownPunkette21 THere are still craploads of Kmarts there anyways, most of them at former Venture Stores and some older stores left.

  • A really nice jingle and commercial.

  • WE NEED COMMERCIALS LIKE THIS AGAIN.

does anyone have any more of these "america's favourite store" version of the commercials? what about the lyrics? I don't understand what she says at the beginning; is it "from the oak town to new england, and towns along the way?" or "old towns"

  • yawn, you mean does anyone have any more ridiculously cheesy commercials? and the answer is simply yes, the universe is full of them

  • ...........................

  • Fuji: it's "From the Old South to New England."

And yes, it's cheesy, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of these.

  • it's not cheesy at all; it's appropriate for the time... i would have had so much fun back then

  • I miss the way Kmart used to be.

  • When I grew up in America, in the 70's and 80's, the last thing anyone would ever admit to was going to KMart. You'd sooner be raked over hot coals.

  • @ajbishop1020 Crappy walmarts brainwashed them but today I think walmart is WORSER than Kmart. They need to bring some kmarts back by building a new one. I never seen any new Kmarts built since around mid-90s

  • wat year is dis from?

  • '86.

  • I would say from the 80s to 1991 as latest when the design changed to Big red K with white "Mart" inside the K sign.

  • They changed to the red "K" logo in 1990...stores were starting to be remodeled inside around the late '80s (from the pukey orange/yellow/brown/beige motif to red/grey/white)

  • @catnap1972 I liked the 80s orange better lol
