  • every time she says tomato make a batch of Doritos consommé

  • CONSOMME THAT SHIT.

  • woooo wooo woooooo wait a second........ that's not tomato sauce...... that's just a wrong way to make an horrible SUNDRIED TOMATOES FLAVORED ORANGE WATER.

1 you just can't mix hot and cold ingredients together in a blender, will make the food go off much quicker.

2 you just can't put olive oil in a blender, the resulted chemical reaction turn the good fat into hydrogenated fat ( bad ) and give the orange colour

3 better use ketchup for your pasta instead, it's still tomato sauce.... WTF ?????

  • Doritos Consomme instead of boiling water ?

  • if the ending result is an orange colored sauce, i disaprove : \

  • olive oil in a blender? bad. friction bruises olive oil resulting in bitterness. instead use mortar and pestle or add olive oil at end.

  • @swankrecords bullsh- theres so much stuff in there, that there wont be much contact of oil and blade and even if- it wont result in any noticeable bitterness.

though, people who prepare pesto and other things, with a lot of oil, in the blender, should be smashed to death with a good old heavy mortar and/or the pestle^^

  • @kingy37321 omg you're so original! that joke has definitely not been made 300 times on this video!

  • @TheLemonLily oh jeeze, your comment is so original!

  • @rainpoolraiu you're so original!

  • Why don't you just make it with REAL FRESHLY PICKED tomatoes instead of dried..?

  • @VMKBrainyBoi tomatoes are not always in season. In fact, they aren't in season right now! Just because they are still sold in the supermarket, does not mean they are of any quality to cook with.

  • wasn't even joking about the consomme...

  • I prefer having Consomme with my pasta...

  • I was racking my brain trying to think of a way to give this sauce a nice Southwestern kick. Anybody got an idea? I'm at a loss here.

  • am i the only one that's noticed the incredible milf-itudinous of this woman spring warren? she's enough to make any man forget about...you guessed it...doritos consomme.

  • @Shuhnyxia It's true. The Doritos Consomme meme wasn't funny to begin with and these mouthbreathing retards think they are SO clever when they're only proving how pathetic and desperate for attention they really are. They are trying so hard to be edgy and hip like the 4Chan/Reddit crowd. Sad.

  • @gnomechomskylives Hey! I'm a Redditor, and I don't see the hilarity of the Doritos bullshit either. I actually think it was really cool, and I's like to use it in a cheese sauce my grandmother makes. The idiots who make these jokes are the same ones who say, "OMFG THE VIDEO SAID CHOW TITS HURR HURR HURR!" on every video. Morons come from all walks of life.

  • @CarolineTurpentine Hey! I'm a Redditor too. Apologies if I sounded disparaging of Reddit. Not at all. While Reddit isn't perfect (the hivemind & reposts can be annoying), it is easily my favorite site. These Consomme-trolls by contrast are trying *so* hard to be funny. At least Reddit memes *are* funny (even the dreaded "arrow in the knee" meme was funny for one brief moment before it got run into the ground). These guys? Not funny at all. >:c

  • @gnomechomskylives I actually still have no idea what that arrow to the knee crap is. I'm pretty sure it's stupid so I've never bothered to look it up.

  • @CarolineTurpentine If you're ever on Jeopardy and are faced with the answer to this question, I'll tell you now and save you the anguish: it's a reference to the video game The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee" is a line repeated by the numerous guards founds throughout the game. Now you're ready should this piece of video game trivia ever come your way :)

  • easy

you have to saute the onions and boiling the water takes time

who are you Martha Stewart ?

  • @glee27101994 Sauteing Onions- 5 minutes

    Boiling Water- 3 minutes

    Blending- 30 seconds.

The whole sauce should take 5 minutes and 30 seconds unless you can't boil water and saute onions at the same time. That is lightning fast in cooking time.

  • Ooh, definitely want to try this. Love sundried tomatoes.

And way to consomme a dead horse. Not even funny anymore.

  • @Cinnamoka This is the first consomme joke I've laughed at in like 5 videos.

  • @sasho16 that is so funny that people still talk about it! lol

  • Tomatoes stopped having seasons when they invented the hot house. Cut them in small pieces right into the pan and cook them until they break down. Holy Shit!!!!!! Its sauce from tomatoes. Heirloom is highly recommended.

  • @Shuhnyxia my point is; i wish top comments would be nice inputs rather than fucking troll shits

  • Am i the only one subbed to CHOW just to see these outrageous comments?

  • @fo13ulous

you know a Chow video is good by the top comments

  • Dear Chow,

I don't think viewers are going to let down this Dorito consomme joke any time soon. Ignoring it won't make it go away. It's going to plague every video you put out. I wish you'd show viewers that behind all that expensive production are real human beings with a sense of humor. I feel like you take yourselves way to seriously. I don't understand why I have to care about an innovative consomme. Seriously, can it be done with other snack foods? Cheetos? Chex Mix? Ketchup chips?

  • @riptiki No.

  • @riptiki Yes, the point of that video is that a consomme can be made from anything, and doritos were only an offbeat example to showcase this. Cheetos, Chex Mix, Ketchup Chips - they could all work.

And, I'm not sure why you think we're so serious - we do have a sense of humor (remember Trixy Stix?), and we're okay with a little trolling every now and again. But, we also know when a joke has gone on too long.

    Blake of CHOW

  • @CHOW

    it's still funny dammit.

  • @CHOW if you accept the trolling then that just goes to show that you think that some of these videos are just plane stupid a useless

  • @CHOW Prempt the joke. Ever heard of it? Just make a Cheeto consomme video and then the whole thing will be lessened. Show us something tongue-in-cheek

  • @vicofour Not if you've taken a south western kick to the knee.

  • @vicofour seriously... that sounds kinda good.

  • i'm italian and i think this is pretty much heresy.

  • @pipomaggi that's what everyone says when their own culture's traditional recipes are changed or tweaked. you can't call it heresy until you try it. yeah, it probably won't be as good as a nice slow cooked tomato sauce with fresh tomatoes and herbs, but it might still be pretty damn good.

  • @mostlymichaelcanada some lady put sun dried tomatoes, onion, garlic and red pepper flakes in a blender. that's all you missed, oh and sun dried tomatoes taste more tomatoey

  • that is the fucking wierdest blender ive ever seen

  • that's a cool blender

  • iPad problem !?!

  • WOW! I was waiting for them to add in the KETCHUP!

  • i think the trick would be to use both canned and sun dried. certainly not all sundried because they are expensive.

  • 0:02 SHOW TITS

  • we want alex back :(

  • I like fresh. But thanks.

  • @AveragePope Goat Butter

  • What's the point of using dried tomatoes if you're going to add water anyway? Wouldn't fresh better than? (yeah, she did say they have a stronger flavor but does that really apply once you dilute them?)

  • @Kaminix Fresh tomatoes are not always in season. They aren't in season right now. They might be sold in supermarkets still but those tomatoes are pretty shitty and won't make a good sauce. Sun dried (and even canned) tomatoes would have been processed when they were fresh and in season, so would have the most rich flavours. the things they sell in the supermarkets in the off season are pretty tasteless and limp in comparison.

  • @CarolineTurpentine Ah. That makes sense. :) Thanks.

  • Dried tomatoes are too expensive.

  • :3 oh Doritos Consomme... it still sounds nasty o-o

but hey what do I know u.u

  • Can tomatoes can be pretty good too.

  • This looks kind of good !

totally gonna try this, throw in a little cheese and some shrimp for a good spaghetti sauce !

  • @ravenprey666 shrimp and spaghetti sauce? is that actually a thing? definitely not a combination I ever thought i'd see.

  • Please just disable comments already.

  • @sansviedotcom just don't read them

  • damn it

  • it can't be fresh if it's dried though...

  • @BiGaZnJeFF

They can still be considered fresh if it hasn't been very long since they were picked. Only difference is that the moisture has been taken out, for easy storing.

  • @BiGaZnJeFF the water makes it taste fresh

  • @BiGaZnJeFF she said "fresh tasting"!

  • @BiGaZnJeFF She said fresh tasting.

  • @BiGaZnJeFF She said "fresh tasting" not fresh....like that "new car smell"......

  • @BiGaZnJeFF well if you listen carefully it is fresh "tasting" you fucking douche...fucking stupid trolls on chow vids...

  • @peachesdeity All hail peachesdeity, the White Knight of chow tips!

  • @BiGaZnJeFF at least is more fresh than canned tomatoes

  • @BiGaZnJeFF Well, she did say fresh "tasting."

  • @BiGaZnJeFF She didn't call it fresh; She called it "fresh-tasting." There *is* a difference.

  • @BiGaZnJeFF fresh-tasting is what she says
