  • this is soooo awesome... LIKE x 100,000 !!!

  • glooglie

  • Dude, you need to solo more often in your vids. Shit was tight and accurate.

  • This really doesn't show the amp's tone at all. You need to stop mid scooping in all of your videos. Scooped mids is for faggots and gives you cancer, everyone knows that. Boost your mids and stop post-processing, we know you do.

  • @PersonifiedMarmite Go preach to John Petrucci about why you think his settings suck.

  • @SmalltoFace Petrucci uses a Robert Keeley-modded TS808 which gives him a significant mid boost compensating for the amp's scoop. This guy is running without pedals. The mid scoop is disproportionate.

  • @PersonifiedMarmite Does he use it for his rhythm tones? What's your source for that bit of info?

The apparent disproportionate mid-scooped tone could easily be a product of any number of recording factors though.

If I came across as snarky in my first comment, I apologize.

  • @PersonifiedMarmite no mid scoop there, petrucci only used ts808 when he was using his roadking. he doesnt use it with the MK V. and this sound was actually pretty damn close to petruccis.

  • fuck my ass this is good, perfectly tracked, great mixing too

  • Ola, In your opinion, this or the road king?

  • We all love arnold :p

  • Boogie

  • random headshaking is random 3:37

  • Awesome song, awesome tone, awesome video.

  • This is soooo sick thanks for playing this song!

  • Hey Ola! I'm gonna buy a RGD series guitar, and I was wondering, isn't it too tight for E standard? (I'm used to 9-46 strings)

  • 00:26

  • clips alot? :)

  • I was responding to the previous comment. Biggest dt fan. I love this video. Such sick tone.

  • pickup?

  • awesome track...dude i would marry you if i could :D great stuff mate

  • @IoKefalas he's playing dream theater.

  • I have a feeling, no lol

  • You know he's playing overture by dream theater?

  • @lilgoten808 it says in the description :p

  • rip off of metropolis part 1 much?

  • @telluridefan he's playing dream theater you idiot

  • @telluridefan LMAO

  • @telluridefan hahahahahaha, this is overture 1928, second song from "scenes from a memory: metropolis pt 2" album... it's the sequel of the miracle and the sleeper.

  • is it a song of yours?

  • @mariuscruz It's Overture 1928 by Dream Theater. Go and become a fan.

  • @Aristowi Oh I see. I have seen your videos, they're are awesome. Do you own all those amps? If yes, wow!! what a nice (and expensive) collection.

  • @mariuscruz Those are not my videos, I just happen to be a big Dream Theater fan. But you are right, this guy's videos are great and the amps he uses sound beautiful.

  • Oh my god, that amp is bigger than a full grown man?!

  • Ola, is so since you used the red channel for both rhythm and lead, there is no real way to get both that out of one amp live is there..?

  • i like ola best when he plays DT <3

  • This is some brilliant playing Ola!

  • @MartyCannava Yes indeed. It may only be one inch longer in scale, but that equates to a considerable amount of tension.

  • ola is this an original? i gotta say i like your playing style and everything about this recording even more than your feared and scarpoint material. this is great! i had no idea you had all those lead skills!

  • @jordanzio It is a cover of overture 1928 by Dream Theater

  • this tone reminds me of satche's tone on the song "speed of light"

  • I came when I heard the intro! Dream Theater is my all-time favorite band!

  • @MartyCannava Yep, standard tuning. Must be really tense on the strings with that guitar, though...

  • @dabenson8r

You mean because of the long scale of RGD??

  • ok i got the mark 5 but it sounds really dry to me and when im playing solos the notes die out to soon :(..any suggestions?

  • @PerpetualMoon Sell all your possessions, move to Timbuktu and raise orphan sea lions

  • @sleazychestnut oooooookkkk...

  • Settings?? Pedals?

  • @N711DA settings in the beginning of the video, no pedals used.

  • @N711DA pul meg i rompa

  • do you have channel 3 in pentode or triode?

  • Hi, great playing and great sound, I have some questions about the amp, maybe you can help me out:

    1. Does the Mark V have a MIDI in/out? I would need to connect a multi FX and be able to switch the amp channels with it.

    2. Would the amp work by connecting a multi FX with the 4 cable method?

This one is not about the amp: Dis you tuned up the guitar? I know RGDs are tuned down to D.

Tkanks, the tone of the amp is beautiful.

  • @Aristowi his rgd is normally tuned to b, drop b or c.

  • @givemeajackson

So this is in standard tunning no?!

  • @MartyCannava no, it appears to be d standard.

  • @InSanityThrashBand well you can't really mention prog metal and a Mesa mk v without them coming up. Love these guys, and you too Ola.

  • jus bought a mark v, now to learn this song! Thanks fearedse for all the G.A.S!

  • Somehow I knew this would video would contain Dream Theater ^^

  • @InSanityThrashBand almost the entire video is Dream Theater.

  • @zTampa1337 It is all dream theater

  • nice chain gator...

  • Where can i find this backing track??

  • 0:26 ARNOLD!

  • lol He kinda looks like Alexi Laiho

  • Shwartzy scared the shit outta me

  • trying to learn this song...its so hard

  • revenge of the manboob!

  • 0:27 random Arnold skiing?

  • @Brndnrchrdsn85 Those are the reason why i always watch his videos

  • just wow for composing this song its really great

  • @rockerboy1989 It's not his song lol. It's Overture 1928 by Dream Theater.

  • @rockerboy1989 Nope its a cover Search for Overture 1928 from Dream theater

  • @rockerboy1989 haha, this is a dream theater instrumental XD

  • sounds so good! i love ibanez and mesa!

  • I don't understand why someone would give this a thumbs down? Great job dude.

  • The great thing about the combo, which I just bought, is it's easy to gig with and if you want that fuller sound it's easy to just unplug the combo speaker and go into a 2x12 or 4x12 cab...or just use both, sounds are limitless. Great job on the song btw, I hope to get to your caliber someday...I'm finding the right (good) gear MAKES you become a better player, no fudging your mistakes huh?

  • yeaaaaa.this is my fav. instrumental song ever:D

  • Mark V head with cab or Mark V combo? which is better in your opinion?

  • Awesome job bro!

  • How loud did you set the master on the mark V?

  • Nice tone man! I've a Dual Rectifier and i'm considering to change it for the mark V.

What's your setting for the solo section?

    Thanks

  • 2:24

  • Intro sounds exactly like The Dance of Eternity

  • @metalhead813 its overture 1928 not the dance of eternity

  • @metalhead813 its overture 1928.

  • @DeadandDECAYED99 well im an idiot

  • @metalhead813 deeeeeeaaaaaauuughhh

  • Surprise Arnold! 0:26

  • mmm, nothing like some Dream Theater :)

  • simply perfect dude!

keep doing the good job! :D

  • Do you think this head would sound good sitting on a Crate BV 4x12 cab? Beautiful song, by the way.

  • This question is to anyone who has owned a mark v or mesa head...which cab does it sound best in and why?

  • @AgentA2628 all of them because this amp is amazing. lol. but seriously, u cant go wrong. I like it with the roadster 2x12 like in this video.

  • @AgentA2628 The mesa cabs obviously sound good with them. I played my Mark IV through a peavey valveking cab and it sounded very good. The sound was clear and extremely crisp and present. Not muffled at all. I've also played it through an Ibanez cab. That thing is just plain terrible.

  • mesa boogie mark v vs. diezel vh4. which one wins?

  • @derHuckepackmann mark v i had a diezel now i have a mark v .. nuff said

  • Awesome

did you play the bass part too? and who played the drums?

  • 0:23 can't stop watching!!

  • Now THAT was AWESOME!!! I'd rather listen to this than the original.

  • very good man!! very petrucci-esc sound:)

  • can you put a combo on top of a cabinet?

  • :27 hahahahahah

  • Oh man, that Arnold picture at the beginning haha

  • Totally awesome cover dude! I really love the tone of the solo, mind if i ask what effects you use to create that? =P

  • OK i have a question for anyone with a MK V out there. Got my MK V combo last week, cracking amp but i have a possible concern. The basic bass mid and treble controls on each of the 3 channels are lets just say to put understatedly pretty non responsive. Especially mainly the mid control, it barely changes the tone in anyway at all! Is this normal behaviour for these amps or do i possibly have a problem somewhere? I would really appreciate any input you guys have.

  • @tamiyatom Yes, the tone controls on the Mark series amps are a little wierd. They act similiar on all models with the Mark V being the most different. Try keeping the bass and mid very low, around 2 or 3 on the dial. And NOT 3 oclock. Now the treble is different, if you raise it you'll notice it adds gain when it's over 7. I normally had bass and mid low and treble very high. Then you can use the 5-band EQ to adjust the overall sound.

  • @tamiyatom also the mid and bass controls are more responsive when the treble is turned down. When the treble is turned up, it takes more control of the pre-gain eq stage which would be the dials.

  • 0:27

  • Which are you favourite top three amps?

  • 1:18 hey ola what vst did you use? @fearedse

  • Which camera do you use?

  • this has nothin to do with the vid, but how come when i got on youtube the ford ad had a guy pulling a certain something out of a orange dinosaurs ass???????

  • @pivetlord13 haha the results of all cookies you've gathered the last week !

  • @fearedse thank you for the settings!

  • man o man...dual rec roadster combo or THIS?I just can't decide what I want more

  • 3:37 Goose bumps/orgasm?

  • @Filthyffs overheated processor...

  • @fearedse Are all the instruments recorded played by you?

  • This guy knows how to record guitars he would even make proper sound from my mobile phone:)

Honestly all your videos sound pretty simlar but just great !!! The best your sound in my opinion was on this video with Mesa dual and Esp eclipse is just amazing powerfull sound.

  • 0:26 I get a kick out of that every time.

  • 0:27 best moment of the video

  • Nice one man.... R E S P E C T!

  • this sounds like you just copied a medley of dream theater songs

  • Comment removed

  • @FermerMetal It is a full Dream Theater track. From the album "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory". The track is called "Scene Two: I. Overture 1928". Just search for "Overture 1928" and you'll find it.

...fearedse even wrote it in the description... ;)

  • Dude, nothing beats this amp for lead tones, imo.

I regret selling mine so much... Always used the IIC+ setting for rhythm and mark IV for leads.

  • @oJinxx I agree. For leads this amp is a dream...

  • Do you remember if you were using Variac or Full power for this video? Were the tubes on diode or triode on the back?Thanks-

  • this sounds like a metallica instrumental mixed with dream theater

  • so progressive metal = happy metal?

  • @vaibhavnayel Not necessarily, but for some reason, a lot of progressive metal bands has at least written one Ci-fi themed song...

  • @KHGuitarFreak1988 Woops. Meant to say Sci-fi...

  • @vaibhavnayel

    "Happy Metal"?

    Seriously, what the fuck?

  • @DeadSteal oh you know what I mean! heavy metal is always like angry sort of stuff (in general).... this seems all happy with major chords and things ! :P

  • "1080p you bastard" This video begins well ! Oh yeah !

  • You should get your hands on an Orange Rockerverb 100

  • metropolis! awesome song!

  • man is any of the amps you make videos with able to be played at low volume in an apartment?? by the way your reviews are great , youre an awsome musician

  • @alexmetallicaZFC13 The Mark V, which is the amp he's playing in this video, is able to be played at pretty low volumes and still sound damn good. It obviously gets better when turned up, but it's surprising how good it sounds at low volumes IMO. Other amps, like the Dual Recto (Which is pretty damn loud), can be played at low volumes by using a power attenuator.

  • Haha u definety like Arnold,Anyway on the last seconds you moved your head haha so funny !! mmmm purple + arnold mmmm hahaha Great Vid mate !!

  • What made you decide to go with the Roadster cab over the Rectifier? I have not personally used the Roadster, but I like the tone in this vid. Great playing, and great song/band.

  • 0:26 epic

  • Killer lead tone! Great micing with the 57 also. That mic is finicky on placement. How do you have it positioned on the speaker/grill.

Any eq/effects on guitar after recording?

  • HUR FAN KAN DU HAR SÅ JÄVLA KLART O FINT LJUD!!!!! BLIR FAN AVIS!!

  • This sounds amazing man, did you record all this yourself?

  • Alright Ola...so it goes without saying that your vids are amazing. Your musicianship, your artistic sensibilities, and your recording chops are stunning. You've heard all that before, and rightfully so. But one thing that people fail to say is that your vids kick serious ass for yet another reason...you have the balls to put shit up in 1080p. Bravo my friend!!

  • It's actually really unique, but you immediately hear that it's Dream Theater...

    Very well played!

  • man really you have that tone only with amp and...mic...apogee one and logic 9?? or you have super skills to mix that thing?? because...you ended with a lot of shit about to go ..to a super studio...to have the tone man...

    greetings!!!!!

  • Yummy Synth :3

  • woow!! is that the sound of the amp!!!! i think you where playing with the original song and not with a backing track!! amazing!!! :)

  • Overture 1928 <3333

  • love the 80's skier dude you sneaked in there!

  • @olivermichael88 It's the artist formerly known as the Governator....Arnold! :D

  • @shwalton75 they sould hire him for a show to come on and go wahey!

  • Hey Ola, is this tone obtainable using the HD500 or Axe Fx? Or only using this amp? Overall, for convenience and volume control, should I buy the Axe Fx over actual tube amps? I don't plan on playing loud; just playing at home and recording on my Mac. Thanks man, you are awesome!

  • @killmysister short answer: no...

    long answer: no way...

  • @fearedse how can you say that man? Even Steve Vai swapped out his rig for the Axe fx. It is supposed to beat any tube amp out there isn't it? And by the way, in the videos where you demoéd the Axe Fx what monitors were you playing and mixing the tracks through?

  • @kirkhammett1993 SUpposed to yeah but it doesn't. It gets really close. But for live use you probably wont hear a difference.

  • @killmysister i wasnt on planning to play loud........buy a half stack and u cant get off musically until you turn it up....peace out niga

  • It's awesome to see you doing stuff other than totally brutal metal.

  • Ola, this is my favorite vid of yours! Excellent playing!

  • wow. great playing!

  • overture 1928 :) i love that song

  • That set-up sounds amazing and the song is very well executed. You mentioned that you use an overdrive pedal in front of the amp. Two questions: are you using one in this song? if so, what pedal are you using? Thanks

  • @rafa5150 No OD used with this amp what so ever!

  • @fearedse Thanks for the quick reply. Truly amazing tone.

  • @fearedse Thanks for the quick reply. Truly amazing tone!

  • I once read in a Mesa Boogie Mark III owners manual and it said "The third channel is purley Mesa Boogie. Try as they might, no one else can though this."
