This is a great video, I know you teach third grade and I teach high school. But believe it our not in my resource special education classes you would be surprised with how many students do not know how to correctly use a ruler. This video would be great for my students to view as a review before we start our unit on measurement and finding area and perimeter. Nice Job!
Hi Jeff: to help with you and Jill; perhaps use rulers that only break down to the 1/4 of an inch. They may be trickier to find, but having rulers that break to the 32nds or even the 16ths when you're teaching 1/2 and 1/4 can complicate the instruction, especially for those more challenged. Then your 4th or 5th grade teacher introduces 1/16 rulers when fractions get tougher at that level. Finding the perfect tool for instructions is always challenging and you did a great job.
Jeff, this is a great video..I teach 3rd grade and always have trouble getting the ruler large enough for the students to see. I really like the way she show the ruler close. I will use this in my classroom this year.
Just wondering could you do the same with 1/4 inch? Mine always have trouble with that.
also tried to post video response but would not let me...
I don't suppose why I wouldn't be able to do the quarter inch video. Maybe I will work on that at another time. I know from my students this is a difficult topic to show and teach too. I plan to use it this year as well.
Who you teaching man, two years old? lol this is not even funny.

I have a special needs child and the other ruler with the 1/2 inch marks on it would be very helpful to him. where did you get it from ?

@cnc4ever1 Sorry, I haven't checked my video in a long time. It was an OXO brand ruler, so I think I got it at Target.

I love your revised video. You must have worked hard to resolve the lighting. I think you should be proud of how this final version came out!
