  • I would rather call straight marriage a different name because marriage is connected to disgust now ....I don't value marriage anymore..Marriage is no longer a beautiful thing.....We need a new name for straight marriage....The faggots and dykes can have marriage.

  • Slavery was wrong. Segregation was wrong. Tormenting and persecuting gays is wrong. Any form of inequality is wrong. Fighting against equality is wrong.

You can dress it up with fancy words of denial in any way you like, unfair policies are still wrong.

Demanding sacrifices of others while not making an yourself is unfair.

Would you like the entire institution of marriage abolished, or would you prefer everyone enjoy the benefits equally? You would Cut off your nose to spite your face?

  • Your arguments are identical to those given in 1948 when interacisal marriage was about to become legal. The only thing that will change when gay marriage becomes legal nationawide is that millons of gay Americans will be recognized as eqauls to everyone esle, and they are allowed to be happy. Will the happiness of gays bring anger to you? If so, why? Do you hate gays more than you respect them as fellow citizens? Would you want to be treated like you suggest gays be treated? Bigotry is dying!

  • "Don't change the rules"??? Rules/laws are supposed to EVOLVE. Wait, nevermind, that concept's gonna be lost...

  • The only true minority left in America is known as the ignorant, hate obsessed, unfair, bitter, negative, anti-social, counter-productive BIGOT.

The grains of sand running through the hour glass of bigotry are almost gone. The remaining few who are clinging to their old ways of legalized discrimination are deserate, andgry and frustrated. Their support has dwindled, and now they are the group nobody likes. The only difference: The dislike of bigots is justified.

  • The institution of marriage is between a man and a woman. So now the rules are supposed to change to accommodate a minority? Really? Don't confuse those who don't support gay marriage with bigotry. That is very weak and fickle thinking.

Rise above man. Don't be weak and fickle.

  • Hate has no future. Those who kling to bigotry will see themselves on the wrong side of history, alongside the segreagtionists and those who embraced slavery.

Live and let live. You can't be a "Christian" while fighting against equality. Equality won't be held up, but those desperate to keep discrimination alive will be the true minority in the end.

Those who just can't get along migfht be better off just getting out. Few would care if they did. Why not try it and see who cares?

  • I can't vouch for people like raineygoodyear who reflect a point of view different from mine, but I can explain why it is that I support Proposition 8. It's not about being a religious zealot or a gay-basher or a homophobe. Society itself hangs on the foundation of marriage between a man and a woman, therein being balance. If that balance is changed in any way, society itself, in process of time, will be shaken and changed. This is not for discrimination. It's for society's future, for all.

  • I do not hate, and I am not a bigot. Name-calling will get you nowhere in the world, my friend. I am not in opposition to happiness. Gay couples are already equal to the eyes of the government, and are therefore protected within it, due to California Family Code 297.5. This is not a question of discrimination, because nobody is being discriminated against.

  • "society itself hangs on the foundation of marriage between a man and a woman, therein being balance."

seriously? what, is society going to fall apart once marriage is no longer just between a man and a woman

  • Notice that the above message said that the California Supreme Court over ruled the states ban on gay marriage. That ban was supported by a majority of Californians. Accusations like bigotry in this context come from thoughts that were formed in a very small box.

Whoever raves about decisions enacted by a very small group OVER the majority will of the people tend to be doctoral types who know whats best for everyone.

  • "Notice that the above message said that the California Supreme Court over ruled the states ban on gay marriage. That ban was supported by a majority of Californians."

You mean like it was done with slavery and segregation? Majorities supported those wrongs as well. Can a majority of Americans outlaw RELIGION?

You have the right NOT to belong to a church, not to get married, etc. WHY must YOUR preference be forced on everyone? Why are YOU more important than others? WHY?????

  • Slavery and segregation are wrong. Perfect examples that the majority is not always right. Still the civil rights movement was successful BECAUSE it persuaded the majority. (thank God)

Do not equate gay marriage opposition with slavery or segregation. A man cannot chose his skin color, he is born with it. Homosexuality is a behavior NOT a something as natural as skin color. You may argue that homosexaulty is natural just like you may argue it is not. The nature of skin color cannot be argued.

  • Civil Rights is not just a black/white issue. That is a very norrow historical view of it. Not only on your part but even on the part of some who advocate for same sex marriage. Being Jewish I defend civil rights that may both be inborn or choice. Like being Jewish. I bet my grandmother could have been forced to convert and pray to Jesus. Because in a way, it's a choice too to be Jewish. But should we Jews be denied our civil rights because being a Jew may or may not be a choice?

  • Yes you can be Christian and fight against equality. Some things are inherently unequal. Homosexuality and the institution of marriage is one of them.

  • i agree with you, jltcpe!!!!!! :D...give a piece of ya mind to this scum - "raineygoodyear"!!!!...hahahahaha...i think he is talking abt him/herself being immoral!!!...hahahaha

  • Only politics and religious men are inmoral !!!! they lie , they kill, etc... not us !!

  • Sexual deviancy and peversion wins just another blemish our world has it goes deeper into immorality our destruction is on the horizon

  • I almost lost my partner of 8 years this year because a hospital wouldn't accept me as her next of kin no matter what she wrote when she checked in. they made her wait 22 hours while her apendix ruptured to even tell anyone she needed another signature. She spent 2 months in hospitals recovering from the paratinits, and still she won't sue. She says she's just glad to be alive. I still have no right to sue for her. There are reasons we are fighting for equal rights that civil unions won't cover.

  • just wish it could be everywhere!!!!beautiful~~

  • so much noise for something so simple !!
