  • no one in this world can give the passion that jimmy gave my all time favorite song...RIP jimmy...you will never be forgotten

  • Love this. He also does my favorite version of "I'll Be Seeing You". Another beautiful song.

  • if i ever get married this is definitely the song i want to play as the first dance :)

  • @unexpectedrain15 I am sure it will be a moment to remember for you.

    thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • Timeless, classic. Makes me think of sleepless in seattle, a "modern day" hollywood classic.

  • I really wish music now a days would show the passion these classics do

  • @lilkitten1999 I certainly agree with that feeling-thanks for the post.

    Hoops

  • He can't really sing - how come he's one of the best ever. This and "make someone happy". I guess it's heart. Nutellagirl214 has it just right.

  • If you are really a teenager I am happy that you can enjoy all types of music.

Every generation has its music and all should be appreciated, although some is

noise ,profanity and vile, but this kind of "music" will be gone and not remembered, but Dunante will be always be loved and respected.

  • @ididso1

this music will never gone and forgotten..

Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Al Jolson, Nat King Cole..etc... will never be forgotten..

  • Thanks to my wonderful daddy I have an appreciation for all beautiful music and Jimmy is one of the best Goodnight Jimmy wherever you are I like to think of you entertaining the saints

  • Simple song, legendary, and so lovely.

  • gotta love good ol' jimmy!

  • (◠‿◠)❤♥••.♫♪♫•☆¸¸.•*¨*•♫*•.¸.

  • my grandfather is a grumpy old great depression kinda guy. so im learning this on piano and im going to play it and sing to it to surprise him. hoping to get some sort of smile outta him lol.

  • Hoops: I scrolled down and read all your comments. I am simply amazed that you have taken the time to reply to almost everyone. I was especially impressed the insight and encouragement you gave the 19-year old. I remember Durante from my childhood, and my father coming home from work when the Schnaze was on tv and tap dancing across the living room. What wonderful old memories and so encouraged that so many other people feel the same as we do. Thanks again.

  • @DiveCatalina1 Well thank you for your kind words. I am not often timelyinmy replies but Ithink it only fair to reply to anyone that takes their time to comment on my work or the subject matter..Besides, I Iike it- It is a labor of love. So thank you for your comment and have a happy thanksgiving!!

  • @DiveCatalina1 I just barely finished watching "Sleepless in Seattle" for the millionth time. I decided to search for songs from the movie, thinking I'd never find Jimmy Durante and here he was...thank you for posting an awesome tune!

  • Ditto for me Hoopsmccann. This wonder oldie really brings goose bumps to my arms and heart too. Just love the old Schnooze. Thanks for sharing it. ConnieIsland

  • @DiveCatalina1 Glad you enjoyed it Connie. Sharing it was a labor of love.

    Hoops

  • @hoopskmccann Got any other wonderful oldies? I like your taste. Happy Thanksgiving.

  • @DiveCatalina1 I'm afraid time and work restraints have put a severs crimp in my video production-as has the YOUTUBE POLICE and their crackdown on copyright issues. So I have to be careful-serveral friends have lost their valuable sights due to shutdowns for that. A great loss of music and history! May have time over the holidays to create more, you never know!!!

    Hoops

  • How can anyone not like Durante and the golden days of the big beautiful orchestras. So dreamy. Just love him. Thanks Schnooz!1

  • How can anyone not like Durante and the golden days of the big beautiful orchestras. So dreamy. Just love him.

  • This, I believe, is one of the best, if not the best version of the song out there. The orchestration is just beautiful, and Durante's voice just amplifies the effect of the whole thing...

  • I'm distantly related to this Ol' Chap. Forget how... Great Grandfather's Cousin's Nephew or something...

  • There was/is only one Durante. How great to see and hear his unforgetable renderings. My heart sings along with him. Thanks for sharing these memories.

  • I love thos one !

  • Simply a classic. They don't do songs like this anymore!

  • Remarkable. If I never heard Jimmy sing this song and "I'll be seeing you," my life would be diminished.

  • @loydkoh826 Love your observation-thanks.

    Hoops

  • what a great song for the ages. we miss you jimmy

  • @reggularguy Obviously I agree with you! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    Hoops

  • @loydkoh826 Thanks for sharing..What a fantastic version!! I really enjoyed..

Thanks Hoops for the great post!

  • @jasena09 It makes me feel good that you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to post.

    Hoops

  • What a classic voice truly brilliant fo the era. Great memories of my childhood listening to this and isnt that what it's all about!!

  • @Rohboats It sure is. Glad you liked it.

    Hoops

  • Thanks hopskmccan.....loved it.

  • @copelandgl Glad you liked it.

    Hoops

  • @loydkoh826 Thanks for sharing. We all loved Jimmy here in the U.S.A.

  • @Fegen i'm not from the USA and i still love him!Great voice!!!

  • Who doesn't love Jimmy. Just one the great ones that I wish was back.

  • @skipper8257 Agreed! thanks for commenting.

    Hoops

  • love is blind what hope for me i think i can see

  • Goodnight Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are..... You too Jimmy... thanks for the memories...

  • This is simply amazing. I am a teenager and I love Jimmy Durante. New music can be catchy at times but it doesn't have the emotion and feeling of older songs. Now, everything is overproduced and overhyped. It makes me sad that things like "Tik Tok" can get millions of viewers while this beautiful song only gets thirty five thousand. At least some of us know good music (:

  • @defygravity1223 I'm a teenager also and I could not agree more. Sadly though most of our generation thinks this music is just well to put it bluntly crap. Most people can't appreciate how much soul and as you said emotion went into the creation and performance of these beautiful pieces of art.

  • Mueychacha! I Agree!

  • They broke the mold with " The Great Snozzola " . Will Take his Tag Line to my grave,

" Goodnight Mrs. Callabash where ever you are "

  • ugh, music is dead. jimmy, dean, louie, where'd you guys go?

  • @Mueychacha they are playing in that great band in the sky! Thanks for the comment.

  • beautiful song!

  • great posting, ty. incredible really for a guy who couldnt sing how warm and welcoming his voice was. a great man and a 1 off style.

  • @fredorulz1 Talent comes in many shapes, sizes, and sounds. It's all about the message. Glad you enjoyed this little piece of musical history and thanks for taking the time to post your comment.

    Hoops

  • @fredorulz1 On Durante's voice we could do worse than quote Noel Coward another great performer who "couldnt sing". He put it like this: "I cant sing but I know HOW to sing". That covers the schnozz, doesnt it. And also remember: he became a well known star back before the First World War as a piano player..Now THAT he could do. It's a shame there's not too much of that on the 'tube. Anyone got something?

  • A dollar is just a dollar.

  • such a character and a gentleman

  • @GoldenEra29 yes indeed-he was totally unique and a joy to experience. Thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • I envy all you guys who lived through times with these songs and amazing singers. Jimmy Durante's one of my fave old time artists now, heck I'm only 19 but I listen to these types of songs more than anything these days. I just love it, everything about it, it's just so legendary.

  • @OnizukaBlues I impressed with your vision and openness to the past. Many your age fell that there is nothing to learn from the past-it often takes years to learn that there is value in the past AND the present. Glad you enjoyed the song and it expanded your horizons. Keep that open mind going -it's an invaluable tool and a precious asset for living life to the max. Thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • talk about a great flashback to my childhood gee I loved this and still do, shit I'm old if I love this 42yrs or should I be 62????

  • @Rohboats Don't feel alone. I'm right there with you. The more I hear comments like yours (which reflects my thoughts too) the more I realize we don' t necessarily FEEL that old and that is why we make the comment.. Take heart and enjoy the NEW 60 year olds that we reflect - aged but not old in thoughts and actions ...Thanks for your comment-glad you enjoyed the music and video.

    Hoops

  • always makes me feel so bittersweet! pure silk and satin music

  • So glad you enjoyed it! it is a classic sound. thanks for taking the time to comment.

    Hoops

  • I've enjoyed Mr. Durante's take on this song for many years. Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are.

  • AH CHA CHA CHA!.........LOVE THIS!

    Hoops

  • A classic and will always remain as such.

    Hoops

  • I never realized that he sang this song, which is played on As Times goes by sung by Judi Dench on BBC.

  • Yes he did a great job on it didn't he? thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • the direction of music nowadays sometimes i wonder where ms music is goin.

  • There is still some good music out there being made but I still am drawn to the old "classics".

Thanks for the comment, glad youenjoyed the vid.

    Hoops

  • NOTHING makes me smile like this

  • SO GLAD you liked it -thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • i first heard this at the beginning of the British Sitcom "As time goes by" they used this song..makes sense..since this was the name of the show..LOL..HA!!!!!!!!! (duh)

  • Yep makes a ton of sense-the song stands up to tome too-no pun intended.

    thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • Great song, terry wogan played this on his last radio 2 show.

  • This day and age we're living in Gives cause for apprehension With speed and new invention And things like fourth dimension Yet we get a trifle weary With Mr. Einstein's theory So we must get down to earth at times Relax relieve the tension And no matter what the progress Or what may yet be proved The simple facts of life are such They cannot be removed
  • Words written in 1931 that remain timeless even today "As Time Goes By". thanks for your post.

    Hoops

  • Thank you for remembering me at this wonderful song. One day I ´ll try to sing it on my own.

  • Well, it's still the same old story

A fight for love and glory

A case of do or die

The world will always welcome lovers

    As time goes by

Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers

    As time goes by

  • Amen

  • Casablanca Bogart & Bergman Great movie

  • yes-a true classic-not the original music but a great rendition. thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • This song makes me smile :) first heard it on Sleepless In Seattle...great film! :)

  • This version reminds me of Frosty the Snowman. If memory serves, the big Shnozz played the narrator in the old 1969 animated version.

"Frosty was da FASTEST belly-whopper.... in da woyld!!!"

  • I sing this song at kareoke venues.people either dance to it or applaud.timeless song

  • It is incredible-glad you like it. Thanks for the comment.

  • linda demais, eu amo essa musica!!

  • My son and I selected this song for our mother-son dance at his wedding next weekend! Thanks for the nice video - it'll be in my mind while we're dancing...

  • how sweet-I could send you the video if you would like to play it while dancing, if they have a projector or screen to show it on.

    HoopsMcCann

  • Thank you. Let me check with the DJ and see if that's do-able. My son is a big fan of the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack and it was a toss-up between this and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. We decided that one was used a lot whereas As Time Goes By is something different. I will let you know - thanks again!

  • I heartily agree and glad you liked it. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

    Hoops

  • He's from an era when what he did was called Entertainment and He was one of the Masters. Thanks for this 5 star posting

  • The Cyrano de Bergerac of smooth music.

  • Hey-love the connection of that sentiment-you "nose" what you are talking about-Thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • He did it without a voice or good looks. I watched him many times with my parents and grandparents who all loved him.

  • He truly was one of a kind. Thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • Thank you for this!

    Good night, Jimmy Durante --

And good night, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are!

  • Somehow he is a great singer yet not. His songs are magical. I love him.....

  • Yeah-he has that unknown thing called "it" that just makes it happen. Thanks for the comment.

    Hoops

  • Lucky are the ones blessed with "IT". It's intangible, can't be manufactured. While Sinatra is smooth, I enjoy Jimmy more. On another note Sinatra in my opinion is not half as good as Nat King Cole.

  • dino beats them all haha. Never seen anyone with such great stage charm and charisma.

  • have to agree that Dean had the stage presence and Charisma AND good looks. quite a package. Just TOO SMOOTH-he dripped charm and confidence.

    Hoops

  • A GREAT MEMORY THANK YOU 5 STAR

  • thanks for the good word-Appreciate your advice on contesting the block. I see a lot of direct CD copies with even pictures of the current CD in the video that still are running. Must be just WMG that is the heavy hitter of their material that youtube monitors closely....

  • How Sweet it Is...Good Job Brother !
