  • What is the date on this? Around 1990?

  • @TheDeJureTour I think this is the same version which is on the deluxe gish reissue, it's listed as a reel time demo so I think that it was recorded in 1989

  • What I love about Pumpkins is how they don't have a particular genre. Sometimes they're grunge, sometimes acoustic, sometimes punk rock...

And then... I love how their music isn't conventional power chord plus cheesy "solo". They actually make MUSIC. That's what's so great about them.

And to complete it all, you have Billy Corgan. A unique vocalist. Not the most talented, but definatley unique and that's what makes him one of the best and fortunately, he's a fucken poet too!

  • didn't anyone say they knew I'd look a lot like you ?

    .

    .

    .

    cause I do.

  • Will someone please tell me where I can get this song. I can't find it on Amazon or itunes or anywhere else for that matter

  • I will never get over the Smashing Pumpkins. Too fucking good

  • This song sounds like the beatles I am the Walrus !!

  • Okay maybe i'm an idiot for asking but where do you get this song I heard it years ago then I got an Ipod a few years ago and well what do you know fucking Itunes dose not have this beautiful song ?

  • @babydick626 Youtube convert it :)

  • this song is so fucking dope it should be in a movie

  • This song sounds like Stumbeline, i've got to say. Just the vocals.

  • Awesome! sp forever!

  • Thnaks so much for posting these!

  • it's very beautiful....

  • They were on a serious trip when they wrote this song. lol. sounds awesome tho

  • Hey what single or EP or whatever was this on because its not on their b-sides or rarities?

  • @ urface102

they re-recorded it for gish, but wound up releasing it on the I Am One 10". that version actually has professional production (and it's slower), but it doesnt have the acid reference.

  • uh, tristessa 12" on sub pop, actually. my bad.

  • @urface102 This version is on a rare studio demo CD called 1989. There is also a little bit different version on the Ultra Rare Trax CD. Then I also have 3 different live versions of this song on CD." Fishing Blue"," Acoustic Daze", and disc 2, track 4 of the "Mashed Potatoes" box set. I know they are all really rare, I got all of mine off of Ebay a long time ago.

  • Omg, is this gish era?

  • @beholderof probably pre-gish. They've got a ton of loose tracks from like 88

  • I said GOD DAMN this song is good I love how it opens up, not alot of good music like this anymore

  • love this. the name of this song rocks.. ♥

  • Such a great song! The liv version of this rocks too.

  • I always shiver when I hear first tone of this song.also `under your spell` is a great pre-album song!

  • the pumpkins are so badass

  • I like the bass line. It reminds me of something I've heard before, but I can't place it.

  • Awesome!

    A Song For Pironne

    Find The Sci-Fi Book : Level 7

  • everything the pumpkins did was lovley even everything off zeigeist which is the greatest record of 07

  • your garbage

  • one day, when the world isnt musically retarded i am going to steal all the pumpkins old stuff and form my own band- upon making millions i will dedicate one unmarked and empty grave to him and his love in my gigantic backyard in chicago- after all thats what he wouldve wanted-right?

  • God this song is amazing....

  • GOD! :o i fucking worship these guys! the more i hear from them the more i love them. I 've never heard a better or more unique band, you just cant compare them to anybody else.

  • Fav SP old school song is "my eternity"

  • dude, you cant top early pumpkins.

  • agreed

  • i used to think that nirvana had the best "early"/pre-famous stuff, but nope. the pumpkins do...though i like how you can get ahold of nirvana's early stuff on cd (with the lights out and bleach)...havent seen anything like that for the pumpkins...at least not yet.

  • Early Pumpkins ...is like my first sip of altar wine.

  • actually the pumpkins have more b-sides, outtakes, live rare-songs and that stuff, in more quantity than all the rarities of nirvana..even the fecal matter thing and that is really difficult to find, try the billy's gravity demos and you'll see how much difference are between the studio-jamming is really different

  • this is like they put gish and machina together. I like it.

  • ....dude...Noussen...where are you getting this stuff?!

  • Where can I get all this old SP stuff? I once had a cassette tape of The Sound of Turnips, but I dunno where it is now...

  • i love this song so much. all the versions. that hook is so delicious.

  • Cool groove, tripping out.Bit by the honey spider.

  • Thanks for this song, I also prefer this regular version, to me it sounds 'more pure' than the clean 'alternate'

  • really cause I got honeyspider 2 off rarities and b sides

  • and its free too you can get all songs off Machina 2 on Smashing Pumpkins web site

  • Thats a bad copy of honey Spider Nouseen you can get this song in high def off the smashing pumpkins web site you should down load that one

  • You wanted Honeyspider II? There are two versions of this song (except live 90), the regular distorted version, and the clean version (called "alternate" or "Honeyspider II") which appears on the Pisces Iscariot bonus. I prefer the distorted version. So... it's not a bad copy, it's another one (appears on Tristessa Single 12'').
