  • I didn't know the BBC still played the national anthem at closedown that late into the 90sm but then again i was only 11 and wouldn't have been aloud up till that time lol

  • I acutally think that the closedown date is actually December 23rd 1996 (i.e the early hours of christmas eve) becuase if i'm not mistaken wasn't the Christmas indent not put on the air until Christmas Eve Morning in those days.

  • I guess 'Closedown' is Brit for Sign off.

  • why dont u guys have all night programming like oz

  • @guzzaguzza1 We do now.

  • They forgot to show the christmas ident didn't they?

  • @argyess The christmas ident was for christmas day only.

  • wtf 24 hour tv in nz started in 1994

  • @caleb1823 Not correct

  • 24 hour TV in Britain started in 1988 on ITV. BBC1 were a bit slower not going 24 hours until 1997

  • The last Christmas when BBC1 would close down.

  • @RobinCarmody Almost there Robin, but it would actually be the day after this when BBC1 closed down for the last time during christmas. The christmas day closedown from this same year is on tv ark
